Chapter 20

Madison was surprised when Sabrina called her the day after Henry’s funeral

“Hey, sorry I’ve been MIA. It was hard to process so many things at one time.”

“I understand.” And she did. It was hard for her to believe that yesterday she buried Henry and got married.

“I wanted to talk to you.”

“Sure.”

“In person.”

Brows knitted together. “Why?”

“Well, part of what I want to show you I can’t over the phone.”

“Can you take a picture of it? I’m supposed to meet Becky in a few hours.” She had already done her interview with the fashion house.

“Well, I wanted to give it to you to keep. You might want it.”

“Ok Sabrina, this all sounds mysterious.” Madison didn’t want to hear anything else that had to do with rumors or to see pictures of her and Dante together.

“Fine. I’ll tell you over the phone. I’m pregnant with Henry’s child.”

“What?” Madison couldn’t believe it.

“Yes, they had me on bed rest because I was bleeding when I found out Henry had died.”

“Oh, Sabrina that’s terrible.” Madison’s heart squeezed, and she believed she was in the wrong for thinking Sabrina didn’t care for Henry, or even care enough for him as a person enough to show up. “Oh, this is so exciting. I’m going to be an aunt. What did you want to give me?”

“An ultrasound picture of the baby for you and your dad.”

“Oh, Dad will want that. Where are you? I’ll come meet you now.”

“Great.”

****

Madison showed up outside the cafe to find Sabrina and her brother Randy waiting. “Hey.” She gave them each a hug. Sabrina was stiff in her arms. “I can’t believe this is happening. Dad will be so excited when I tell him.”

“Did you tell anyone where you were going?”

“No. Why? Should I have?”

“It’s going around the club that you and Dante got married. Must be nice.”

“Uh, yeah. Ok.” Madison didn’t know where things were going, but she wouldn’t discuss her marriage with anyone. How did they even learn they had gotten married? “Can I get the ultrasound? I need to get back to meet Becky.”

“Randy, show her what she’s won.”

“Won?” She looked between them.

“What if I tell her?”

Something pushed into her low back and she turned to look over her shoulder.

She froze. The man towered over her and he had tattoos on his neck and ran up his face.

Maybe they went lower, she didn’t want to imagine it.

He let her see the gun he pushed into her side.

“Mrs. Bianchi, you’ll come with us,” the guy said.

A black SUV pulled up to the curb and they pushed her in.

“Wait, what is this? What do you want? Sabrina what are you doing?”

“They are going to take you for a train ride. A double train and you get to be the engine.”

Madison’s body went cold ,then hot, then cold. She had an idea of what Sabrina had meant. Madison fought against the new guy, but he was too strong for her. She stomped on his instep.

“You’re going to pay for that.” He tightened his grip on her.

She looked up at the shouts calling her name and there was three men in suits headed towards her, but they were too far away. And out jumped some other guys.

The last thing she could see was them pull out guns before she was pushed into the truck and followed by the big tattooed guy. The other door opened, and Randy slid in. Over his shoulder, Sabrina smiled.

“You hate me.” It was a question, but came out like a statement.

“Yes.”

“Were we ever friends?”

“When we were younger, but the friendship ended on my side a long time ago.”

The door closed and then the car sped off. Madison sat there and tried to process her fate.

“I’m going to have fun with you.” The tattooed guy rubbed a hand over her thigh and her skin crawled, and her stomach cramped.

He looked over her head at Randy. “Too bad we can’t keep her. But even used, she will bring in a lot of money.”

Madison’s stomach dropped. This wasn’t just a way to make her miss the fashion show. Sabrina wanted to get rid of her. For good.

She looked at Randy. “Sabrina hates me this much?”

“I bet it’s more than this.”

“Then why was she friends with me?”

“You know how the saying goes. Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer.”

“Did she ever like me?”

“When you were little girls, you guys were friends, but once you guys hit middle school, it was a competition between the two of you.”

“I didn’t know.”

“Doesn’t matter. But one you were in just the same.”

Madison turned to face Randy. “This is crazy. Randy, you’ve known me for so long. Please don’t do this to me. If it’s money for you guys, I’m sure Dante would pay whatever. You don’t have to do this.”

“It’s already been put in motion. If we don’t follow through, we will be seen as weak.”

“But Dante will go to war to get me back.”

“And that’s fine. We’re prepared to handle that.”

“How can you do this to me? I know Sabrina must have told you I lost my virginity not that long ago.”

“That’s where the big money is coming in.” Vince spoke, bringing Madison’s attention back to him.

“So what’s going to happen to me?”

“Someone said you know how to work the pole, so we’re going to take you to the Donnettis’ club, have you dance for us, and we’ll place bets to see the order that we’re going to sleep with you.”

“And Sabrina knows this?”

Madison cried. She couldn’t believe that Sabrina had known she had been a virgin before Dante and would want this to happen to her.

She was going to be sick. Her stomach rolled like it was on the world’s twistiest roller coaster.

She was sure she would pass out, the walls of the car closed in on her and squashed between the two men, she was like a child.

“She wanted us to run a double train on you, but like you said, you were a virgin not that long ago, so I decided not to do that.” He looked over her head. “Right, Vince.”

“Not the first time anyway. Did Bianchi take that ass or no?”

Madison’s eyes got wide, and she sucked air in through her nose.

“I guess not. Let’s see who gets first pick.”

“This is going to be fun.”

****

Dante picked up the phone after the fifth ring. “I said I don’t want to be disturbed.”

“Boss, we lost her.”

“What?”

“They took her.”

“Shit.” Dante’s first instinct was that she had slipped the tail that he had put on her, but this was even worse. “What the fuck were you guys doing?”

“She went to meet her friend. We didn’t expect the Donnettis to be waiting. It was an ambush boss. Even if we were closer, they would have still taken her.”

“Where are they taking her, and better not tell me the fuck you don’t know where my wife is going.”

“We have the friend. But I doubt the lackey’s sister is going to get us a trade.”

“What do you mean lackey?”

“One of the footmen for Donnettis. We got his sister.”

“And the friend? Did they take the friend too?”

“No boss, we have her.”

Her, not them both. It was one and the same and that could only mean one thing. Sabrina.

Dante would give them whatever they wanted before they even asked for it to get Madison back safe and sound.

“Where did she say they’re going?”

“She won’t talk.”

“Bring her in. I’ll meet you guys there.”

“What’s going on?” Lucca looked up from his phone.

“Donnettis took Madison. Did you check on Ainsley?”

“Yeah, Rocco just got back to me. They have eyes on her, but they will move in closer. I’ll send some extra guys. Do you think they’re going for her next?”

“I don’t know. I doubt it. Sabrina is the one who helped them get Madison, so I feel like she is all they want. If they had wanted both, they would have had teams to take both at the same time.”

“True. But this is the Donnettis. They aren’t the brightest. and they are low down in the game.”

“We will find out soon enough. I’m headed to HQ. Put a call out; find out what they want and that I’ll give it to them to get her back.” Dante grabbed his stuff and left. Lucca was right behind him.

“What are you doing? Finish the meeting.”

“And let you go out there alone? Hell, no. We’re going together. I’ll call Gabe.” Lucca headed for his car.

All Dante could see was red. The Donnettis dealt in trafficking which was below the Bianchis. They didn’t do drugs or human trafficking or even guns. They were strict to keep their hands in white collar crimes with some blue-collar tendencies. He knew what they would do to Madison.

He had to get to her. He didn’t have a lot of time.

Dante called Gabe himself.

“The Donnettis have Madison.”

“What? Why? How?”

“Doesn’t matter. I need you to meet me there with some guys.”

“Where?”

“I guess they took her to their clubhouse.” Dante didn’t carry guns, but they did have them. “Bring me something to use. I’m sure we are going to have to take her back by force.”

“On my way. I’ll round up some of the enforcers and then we will be there.”

“Get there as soon as possible. They’re going to hurt her.”

Dante got in his car and took off. He used his Bluetooth to call a dirty cop.

“Meet me at the Donnettis’ place and bring backup.”

“What’s going on?” Mike asked.

“They have my wife. She’s been gone for close to a half an hour now. I’m on my way, and I’m bringing backup.” Dante disconnected and sped towards the Donnettis’ side of town.

****

The SUV stopped outside the club. Randy opened the door and pulled Madison out.

She still had her pin cushion attached to her wrist from the finishing touches she was doing before Becky came for the final fit.

It wouldn’t make a good weapon. Turning the men into pin cushions wouldn’t stop them.

She also didn’t know if she could stab them deep enough for it to be effective.

She also didn’t have enough pins for everyone. As she tried to process everything, it made her want to pass out. Dante’s men had seen them take her; but did they know where she was being taken?

Sabrina had done this to her, so she knew where Madison was and wouldn’t send anyone to help her.
