Chapter 25
Sebastian
Once Ariana’s breaths have slowed, we tip toe carefully out of the room. I don’t shut the door behind me, leaving the smallest crack open.
“I’m going to kill them.” Jason’s eerily calm. In contrast to his smooth face, his scent flares with murderous intent.
Evan rolls his eyes. “Like I said earlier, that’s too fast. They need to suffer.”
“Then I’ll kill them slowly.”
“First, that’s still over too quickly. Secondly, you can’t be around Ariana if you’re in jail.” Evan lifts his hands to his head. “Think, Jason Coates, think.” His second point gives the man more pause than the first.
“I agree with Evan.” Nico pipes up. “It’s better if they’re alive, having to live with what we’re going to put them through.” He nods sagely at his own words.
The three of them turn to me, awaiting my decision. I look back at the blue and brown eyes, returning their gazes seriously.
“I want Ariana. I haven’t wanted anyone since…”
“Not since her.” Jason finishes for me.
“Not since her,” I agree. “And not as badly as this. We have to protect her. We promised. I want that pack to pay.”
That pack, not her pack like we used to say. They don’t deserve to be called that.
Nico thoughtfully rests his face on his elbow. “The bond’s the problem.”
“Do you still have your contact at the Office of Omega Affairs?” I turn to Jason. When he nods, I look at Nico. “Have you managed to get in touch with Emilio?”
“I’m working on it.”
“Work harder. All of you. We’re going full throttle.
As soon as you find him, let Evan know. Jason, you convince him to lose some paperwork if that pack reports her gone.
” I smirk to myself. “It might be some time until they’re able to go do so, though.
I think their hands will be full for a while. ”
The look on Jason’s face matches mine. “Cloak’s off. I’ve been waiting for this.” We’ve been quietly setting the stage for this cloak and dagger. It’s time to start the show.
Hopefully our main actors manage to break a couple legs. It would be a shame if we spent all this time preparing for them to go off script. I don’t think they will. Knowing the Hale pack, they’ll be too preoccupied chasing the money their company is bleeding to go to the Office of Omega Affairs.
Which only gives us more time to snap Ariana’s bond. Either the material we collect convinces them, or we press charges and petition on her behalf. Once we have everything ready, we’ll just need her signature.
It just breaks my heart that it had to get to this point. They’ve hurt her far too much. We won’t let them hurt her again.
