The Plan to Romance the Film Industry

The American film industry is the most lucrative and influential in the world, and Belgrovinia's Royal Council is spearheading an elaborate campaign to court the Hollywood film scene and encourage them to bring their business to Belgrovinia.

Last year alone, more than three billion US dollars were pumped into central Europe's economy from American-backed television and movie studios. Thanks to organized efforts led by King Alexander and Prince Nicholai, Belgrovinia is seeking to earn a larger piece of that pie .

This month, the brothers unveiled a multi-tiered bill to incentivize international production companies to move their projects to Belgrovinia. I sat down with Prince Nicholai this week to discuss the plan.

"Once Parliament passes the bill, not only will it bring increased federal revenue through tariffs and fees imposed upon the studios, but it will also bring more jobs to our country," Prince Nicholai explained.

Part of their lofty initiative involves an agreement for the studios to hire a certain percentage of local workers.

"However, it goes far beyond that. It’s a domino effect, really.

Research shows that when Belgrovinia is the chosen location for movies and TV shows, tourism to our country increases as well.

When tourism increases, there is an influx of money benefitting our country at the local economic level—hotels, restaurants, and attractions. "

After announcing the plan for future economic incentives and logistical support, Belgrovinia is already receiving increased interest from Hollywood.

Last month, Lyonsfilms Studios, an American-based company, announced that they greenlit the biographical film based on Princess Mila's life, titled Mila of Monaco .

In a concerted effort to court Lyonsfilms Studios, Prince Nicholai is hosting a small yet prestigious conglomerate of Hollywood's elite.

The group, consisting of people attached to the Princess Mila film, includes famed director Hugh Benoit, and award-nominated actors Jasper Bennett and Willa Radford.

When asked if all production companies can expect the Belgrovinian monarchy to roll out the red carpet for them, Prince Nicholai laughed, remarking, "Building these collaborative, symbiotic relationships with our international partners is important.

If they want me to roll out the red carpet, I'm certainly not opposed to it. "

Since birth Prince Nicholai has been overshadowed by his older brother, King Alexander, but Prince Nicholai is coming into his own.

Having graduated with his Master of Business Administration this past May from prestigious Windingham University, the second born prince is younger and less experienced than his older brother; however, behind his obvious, effusive charm lies a man deeply devoted to his country and highly motivated to see this passion project through to completion.
