Chapter Twenty-Nine #2

"He is a good man," Simone continued gently. "He has taken his mistakes, and he has used them to forge himself into a man worthy of having the entire world. He is worthy of everything, Ana. And I wanted you to know... Arielle and Enzo are so incredibly happy."

In the quiet parlor in Naples, the dam finally broke.

Ana Falco let out a ragged, beautiful sob, tears of pure, unadulterated joy spilling hot and fast down her cheeks.

For over a year, she had wept in silence, watching her youngest, brightest child suffer in a freezing exile, broken by a mistake he had been manipulated into making.

To hear that he had not only survived the fire, but had emerged victorious, anchored by the love of the woman he cherished, was a relief so profound it felt like a physical weight lifting from her chest.

"Thank you," Ana wept, her voice cracking with overwhelming gratitude. "Thank you, Simone. Thank you for telling me."

"He is family now, Ana," Simone promised warmly. "He is safe."

Later that night, the modest stone house in the hills was a haven of insulated, perfect intimacy.

The winter wind howled against the reinforced windowpanes, but inside, the roaring fire cast a brilliant, dancing amber light across the terracotta walls and the custom-built bookshelves.

Enzo sat on the edge of the oversized, plush sofa, his back resting against the armrest. Arielle was settled between his legs, her back pressed flush against his chest, enveloped in his arms. He rested his chin on the crown of her hair, his large hands laced securely over her stomach.

They were surrounded by peace, talking quietly about a future that had once seemed impossible.

"I cannot stay auditing the ledgers for my father forever," Arielle murmured, her fingers idly tracing the veins on the back of Enzo’s hand. "Lucian is perfectly capable of managing the northern logistics. I want to build something of our own. Where do we go from here, Enzo? Where do we live?"

Enzo kissed her hair, inhaling the sweet, citrus scent of her skin.

"We can live anywhere on this earth you want to live, Ari.

If you want to stay in the north, I will expand this house.

If you want to move to Paris, I will buy an apartment overlooking the Seine tomorrow morning. It is your choice."

Arielle was quiet for a long moment, watching the sparks pop and hiss in the grate. She closed her eyes, a deep, undeniable yearning surfacing in her chest.

"I miss the water," Arielle confessed softly, her voice carrying a wistful ache. "I miss the smell of the salt, and the warmth of the sun on the cliffs. I want the coast, Enzo. But..." She hesitated, her body tensing slightly against him. "I am not ready for Naples. I don't want the Falco estate."

"I know," Enzo answered instantly, his arms tightening around her in a fierce, protective embrace. "And I promised you that you would never have to see those gates again."

He shifted slightly, reaching his free hand toward the side table to retrieve his phone. He tapped the screen a few times, pulling up an encrypted architectural file, before handing the device to her.

"What is this?" Arielle asked, looking down at the illuminated screen. It displayed a rendering of a breathtaking, modern villa built directly into the side of a plunging, sun-drenched cliffside, surrounded by terraced lemon groves and sprawling infinity pools.

"It is Camogli," Enzo murmured, his voice dropping into a low, velvet purr near her ear. "The Italian Riviera. It is coastal, it is vibrant, and it is hundreds of miles away from Naples and syndicate politics."

Arielle stared at the rendering, her heart beginning to beat a frantic, beautiful rhythm.

"I bought the property six months ago," Enzo confessed, a raw, vulnerable sincerity bleeding into his tone.

"It was a pathetic, desperate hope. I had no right to assume you would ever speak to me again, but I needed to build something.

I needed to have a sanctuary ready, just in case the universe decided to grant me a miracle. "

He reached out, his long finger pointing to a specific detail on the architectural rendering—a sprawling, white stone balcony that wrapped around the master suite, overlooking the endless, glittering expanse of the Ligurian Sea.

"The architects are fully mobilized," Enzo whispered, his breath hot against her neck. "I told them to prioritize that structure. The balcony overlooking the ocean, Ari. The one I promised you a long time ago. I am going to have it built for you."

Arielle’s breath hitched violently in her throat.

The memory of that promise—made during their early days together, before the blood, before the betrayal, before the world had shattered—crashed over her with devastating force.

He had never forgotten. Even when he was drowning in guilt, even when he believed he had lost her forever, he had been quietly building the dream he had sworn to give her.

A choked, beautiful sob tore from her lips. The phone slipped from her hands, tumbling onto the sofa cushions, as tears of pure, overwhelming love spilled over her lashes.

"Oh, Enzo," Arielle wept, turning in his arms to bury her face in the crook of his neck. She wrapped her arms fiercely around his broad shoulders, clinging to him as the sheer magnitude of his devotion washed away the last, lingering scars of their past.

"Don't cry, my love. Please, don't cry," Enzo soothed instantly, his voice thick with emotion. He gathered her fully into his lap, his large hands cradling the back of her head, pressing tender, desperate kisses to her temple, her jaw, her tear-stained cheeks.

"I love you so much," Arielle choked out, her hands framing his face, looking into his shining eyes. "I love you."

Enzo let out a ragged, fractured groan. The words were a brand, searing straight to his soul. He didn't answer with words. He lowered his head, capturing her lips in a kiss of staggering, consuming reverence.

The kiss started slow, a tender, desperate exploration, but the sheer, agonizing weight of the year they had spent apart rapidly ignited into a roaring, uncontrollable inferno.

Enzo’s hands slid down to grip her waist, pulling her flush against him.

Arielle opened to him willingly, her tongue tangling with his, a soft, breathless moan escaping her throat as the friction between their bodies sparked a desperate, primal need.

It had been over a year. A year of starving, of looking at each other across courtyards and village squares, forbidden from touching.

Enzo broke the kiss, his chest heaving as he stood up from the sofa, carrying her effortlessly in his arms. He didn't break eye contact as he carried her down the short hallway and into the master bedroom.

The room was bathed in the pale, silver light of the moon.

Enzo let her legs slide down his body until her feet touched the floor beside the edge of the sprawling mattress.

He didn't rush. Despite the feral, burning hunger threatening to tear his control apart, he treated her with an agonizing, worshipful deliberation.

He reached out, his trembling fingers finding the hem of her sweater. He pulled it up and over her head, discarding it onto the floor. His eyes darkened to pitch-black as he took in the pale, flawless expanse of her skin.

"You are so beautiful," Enzo rasped, his voice a guttural whisper. He reached out, his knuckles grazing the curve of her collarbone, tracing the delicate line down to the center of her chest.

Arielle’s breath hitched, a liquid heat pooling low in her stomach.

She reached for the buttons of his shirt, her hands moving with frantic, desperate efficiency.

She pushed the fabric off his broad shoulders, letting her palms press flat against the hot, heavily muscled expanse of his chest. She felt the rapid, violent pounding of his heart against her skin.

Enzo unfastened her trousers, letting them pool at her feet, before stripping away his own. Within seconds, there was absolutely nothing between them.

He backed her gently toward the edge of the mattress, following her down into the soft, white sheets. The cool linen was a stark contrast to the burning, unyielding heat of the man hovering over her.

Enzo braced his weight on his forearms, trapping her beneath him.

He didn't just want physical release; he wanted to anchor his soul to hers.

He lowered his head, his mouth trailing hot, open-mouthed kisses down the long column of her throat.

He lingered at her pulse point, sucking gently against the sensitive skin, drawing a sharp, arched gasp from her lips.

"Enzo," Arielle pleaded, her fingernails biting fiercely into the thick musculature of his back, pulling him closer.

His mouth moved lower, capturing the peak of her breast, laving and teasing the sensitized flesh until her hips bucked off the mattress in a restless, frantic search for friction.

Enzo let out a low, rough growl of satisfaction, his large hand sliding down the curve of her waist, trailing over her flat stomach, before parting her thighs.

When his long fingers finally slipped between her folds, he found her slick, swollen, and absolutely desperate for him. He stroked her with a slow, agonizingly precise rhythm, his thumb circling her most sensitive nerve, applying a steady, building pressure that made her vision blur with pleasure.

"Look at me," Enzo commanded softly, his breath hot against her ear as his fingers worked her closer and closer to the edge.

Arielle forced her eyelids open, meeting his burning gaze. She saw the raw, unadulterated worship in his eyes.

"You are mine," Enzo vowed, a fierce, primal claiming echoing in the quiet room. "You are my entire world, Ari."
