Chapter 10 Secret Account

Besides reposting my promotional material, his Weibo contained only life photos.

The latest post was from last month. He had reposted a dating show announcement and tagged his friends.

He seemed pleased and added: 【Same show.】

His friends’ replies carried clear silence.

【Chased her for four years and she still does not know you exist. Impressive.】

【Chasing someone all the way onto a dating show. Jiang Shuo’s father will beat you when he finds out.】

【Secretly liked her for four years and got called a scumbag by her fans. No one is more miserable than you, Jiang Shuo.】

Jiang Shuo shot back: 【What do you know?】

After scrolling through his secret account, I remembered my agent once mentioned that before I became famous, someone often sent packages to the set and the company. The company had thrown them all away as harassment.

No wonder the cleaning lady at the company always looked happy. She kept finding large bags of untouched snacks, lipsticks, and even brand-new luxury bags in the trash.

I stood there stunned, picturing Jiang Shuo standing outside the company with a disappointed face.

I had thought his liking was just a passing novelty.

Four years.

If that liking were counted in numbers, how much would it be?

My hand moved to my chest without thinking.

It was warm. It was beating.

Strong and alive, as if I had returned to the day I met Jiang Shuo in the park.

I had stood under the cold streetlight and watched him. His energy made my blood stir. My heart pounded.

I looked at the half-smoked cigarette at my feet. My father had been right. It choked, but it also made me happy.

Even later in school, when Jiang Shuo still did not remember me or recognize me, I still felt happy watching him pass by my window.

Even when I knew clearly that someone like him would never turn to look at the girl in the corner, I let him quietly mark every moment of my high school years.

I was brave and timid at the wrong times, yet fate had twisted in such a strange way that it had never failed anyone.

I stood up and walked to Jiang Shuo. He was facing away, unpacking the takeout bag.

When he saw me, he calmly handed me a plate of luxurious breakfast. “I made it. You eat first?”

I looked at the unopened hotel packaging on the rice ball and swallowed what I had been about to say.

My eyes drifted to his lit phone screen.

As expected, the search bar read: 【Successful ways to chase a girl.】

The answer page displayed bold text: 【Girls like boys who can cook. Grab her stomach first.】

I stared.

So this was why Jiang Shuo kept ordering takeout and pretending he made it himself?

I took a bite. The hotel breakfast really was good.

Then I deliberately said, “The rice ball seems undercooked. The rice is a bit hard.”

Jiang Shuo’s face darkened. “What?”

He said, “I will handle it.”

He walked to the corner and picked up his phone to call and complain.

I held back a laugh and stopped him. “Jiang Shuo, let’s team up for today’s date.”

He turned. He froze for a moment, then seemed to remember something and snorted. “I remember you said you hated me yesterday.”

I blinked.

I had told him to like other female guests. I had never said I hated him.

Jiang Shuo rushed to add, afraid I would take it back, “But out of politeness, I will not refuse a girl’s invitation.”

I said nothing.
