15. The Quest To Bone
THE QUEST TO BONE
Zenith was so hard, it hurt.
He stared at his laptop screen and tried to make sense of the words, but they swam and refused to cooperate.
Upstairs, Emre laughed.
The sound went straight between Zenith’s legs. His cock jerked, precum soaking through his pants.
“Fuck,” he muttered, running a hand over his face.
For the past three days, Zenith had been plagued by this.
He would wake up before dawn on the heels of a scorching dream, hard as steel and wet with precum.
He would wrench himself away from Emre’s side, ignoring Emre’s warmth on his skin, Emre’s scent in his lungs, so he could rub one out in the shower.
Then he would work out in his home gym, rubbing out another release when he was done.
He would throw together some breakfast, get to work, and when he heard Emre’s voice upstairs, he would jerk off again, needing his omega but unable to touch him.
It was insanity.
Across the internet, opinions varied. Some people said you had to wait a week post-birth to mate with your wolf omega. Others said to wait a month. There was even a group of people who said it was best to check your omega inside, to make sure he was ready for penetrative sex.
But these options all involved separating Emre from his newborn pup, and Zenith couldn’t do that to them.
In an attempt to channel his desires into something more productive, he had sent his characters into another explosive hate-fucking scene.
Ulgon, the smaller mage alpha, had antagonized his alpha prince, insulting Burnzinger’s abilities in bed until the prince had snapped. Burnzinger had dragged Ulgon into his chambers to corner him. But that turned out to be a mistake when Ulgon told Burnzinger that his stamina sucked.
To prove him wrong, Burnzinger had whipped out his cock, and Ulgon had grabbed it to show that Burnzinger had a hair trigger.
The scene had ended up in hair-pulling, wrestling, and grinding their cocks against each other to see who would come first.
So it was kind of hot, even if Zenith would never admit it to anyone.
Especially because Ulgon and Burnzinger were based on his friends, Uriel and Bruiser.
Crush had commissioned Zenith to write this book as a lavish present for his omega, since Uriel and Bruiser were taking their sweet time getting together.
“You’re amazing,” Emre said somewhere upstairs, sighing happily.
That sigh. Zenith’s thoughts dropped straight back into filth.
Emre giggled and murmured to his pups. Then he groaned—someone had probably poked him in the eye—and the sound dug its claws into Zenith’s balls, filling them with heat.
He wasn’t going to touch himself again. Except his cock had a mind of its own, growing thicker and harder, demanding attention.
Zenith cursed and shoved a hand down the front of his pants, wrapping it around himself to take the edge of his need. He remembered his dreams vividly: Emre whimpering and pliant beneath him, spreading his legs, his hole fucked loose.
How long until he could come again?
He checked his phone. One more day, and Uriel’s busy schedule would allow him to drop by.
Just one more day until he could get Emre alone. Then he would examine Emre’s hole, see if he was recovering well. Maybe he might even get to taste Emre, milk him, put more cum into his fertile body...
Zenith grabbed a tissue, thought about Emre taking his load, and came hard.
“Wow,” Emre said the moment he stepped into Zenith’s office. His nose twitched. “The smell.”
Zenith winced. “I don’t suppose it smells like paper and printer ink?”
Even he could smell the sex musk in here, to say nothing of Emre’s heightened senses.
Emre snorted. “It smells like paper and ink... if you ignore the thousand tons of musk and cum.”
“Damn it.” Zenith rubbed his temples. “I wish I could say it was because of my manuscript, but it’s... not.”
At that, Emre’s eyebrows shot up. “Are you writing a steamy scene? Can I read it?”
“Sure you want to do that right now? You’re carrying a pup.”
Emre made a face, his shoulders sagging. “Dammit.”
He had T-Bean cradled against his chest, the pup’s little eyes still scrunched shut. At first, Emre had nicknamed the pup To Be Named, except he’d shortened it to TBN after a few hours. By the end of the day, the pup had become T-Bean.
Bean hadn’t shifted into his human form yet, which was making them both extremely curious.
“Uriel’s coming over tomorrow,” Zenith said. “I think I have an idea how to get you a small break from keeping T-Bean warm.”
Interest flickered in Emre’s gaze. “You do? How?”
“It’s a surprise. But it’s really more for my benefit than yours.” Zenith gestured vaguely at his own hips.
Emre sneaked closer, peeking around Zenith’s desk at his covered crotch. His nose twitched. “Wow.” Then he pouted. “Is that why you’re never around anymore when I wake up in the mornings?”
Zenith winced. They had removed most of the pillows from Emre’s nest so they could all stretch out comfortably on the bed. But Zenith hadn’t returned to sleep after he’d taken care of his problem, the past few mornings. “You missed me?”
“Well, yeah! You’re so cuddly in bed.” Right after, Emre’s face pinched, as though he hadn’t meant to admit that.
Zenith’s heart warmed.
In a smaller voice, Emre said, “Is it a bad thing if I’m not with my newborn pup 24/7?”
He looked so guilty that Zenith rolled his chair back from his desk and opened his arms. “Hey, come over here.”
Emre came closer, carefully perching himself on Zenith’s lap. He still held T-Bean cradled against his chest, and he looked like... he belonged.
Zenith wrapped them up in a warm hug. “I think you need to do what keeps you safe and sane,” he murmured, rubbing Emre’s back.
“You’re human, and you need rest. If that means taking a break from your pup, do that, so you can go back to being the best dad you can be.
As long as the pups are safe and cared for, I don’t see it as a bad thing.
Otherwise you might push yourself beyond your limits, and end up resenting the pups. ”
Emre shuddered. “Gods, no, that sounds bad.”
“So make sure you’re in a good headspace,” Zenith said. “The way I see it, the pups will benefit when you’re happy.”
“Okay.” Emre sat a little straighter.
“I’ve said it to you before, and I’ll say it again—anytime you need help, tell me, and I’ll see what I can do.”
“Thanks,” Emre said, looking a little overwhelmed. “It’s hard to believe how good you are to me.”
“I try my best.” Zenith pressed a kiss to Emre’s hair, hugging him close. The omega felt so good on his lap, safe and secure. T-Bean nuzzled the soft material of Emre’s shirt, looking so at ease that Zenith’s heart swelled.
They relaxed against each other, the silence easy around them. Then Emre turned back to Zenith, his curiosity obvious even before he spoke.
“So... Your manuscript?”
Zenith couldn’t help glancing at his laptop. “Definitely don’t mention it to Uriel when you see him.”
Eyebrows rising, Emre leaned closer to the screen to see what Zenith had been writing.
It was that hate-fucking scene.
The more Emre read, the hotter Zenith’s face burned. It was one thing to tell people you were an author. It was another thing to tell people you were writing a book about your friends.
It was a whole other alien species for them to read the very explicit sex scene you’d written your friends into.
Fuck, this was mortifying.
“I should mention that I’m in no way attracted to Uriel,” Zenith said awkwardly. “Or Ulgon. Or Burnzinger.”
“Holy crap,” Emre whispered, his ears pink. “This is, um. This is really hot.”
Zenith breathed a sigh of relief. “Thanks. I’m glad you think so. Please, please don’t ask him about Bruiser when you see him tomorrow, or he’ll murder me.”
Emre’s mouth twitched. “So, what’s with their fake names?”
“I’m just following my employer’s request to name them Ulgon and Burnzinger. Not that it really conceals their identities, if you know what to look out for.” Zenith sighed.
“I want to read the whole thing,” Emre said. “It sounds amazing. Are Uriel and Bruiser like this in real life?”
“Yes. They bicker so much, everyone has already placed bets on when and how they’ll get together. You’ll understand it if you see them in person.”
Emre turned, slow and innocent, to peek at Zenith. “Will Bruiser be here tomorrow?”
Zenith froze. “We’re not supposed to set them up, or we void our entry in the betting pool.”
Mischief flickered through Emre’s face. “But if they accidentally meet?”
Zenith began to frown.
“Leave it to me!” Huxton bellowed through the mansion.
Emre lit up. Zenith facepalmed.
“They’re like an explosion and a half,” Zenith said. “Don’t say I didn’t warn you.”
“This is so exciting!” Emre wriggled on Zenith’s lap and scrolled up to read more of the sex scene—seemingly unaware that his ass was grinding against Zenith’s crotch. Right over his covered cock. “Oh, there’s more.”
Zenith gritted his teeth, torn between pointing out exactly what Emre was sitting on, and letting Emre wriggle until he felt the consequences of his actions.
Emre kept reading, his breath hitching, little pleased sounds falling from his lips.
Zenith bit down his groan. “You want some of what they’re getting?”
“I... Maybe?” Emre said breathlessly. “I think you could convince me.”
Zenith huffed. “You’re sitting on my most convincing argument.”
Emre shifted in confusion, grinding down on Zenith’s hard-on. “Oh!” He blushed bright red and leaped to his feet. “Sorry! Um, tomorrow, maybe?”
He peeked at Zenith’s hips, his face turning pinker.
“Really?” Zenith said, surprised. “You don’t have to. I know it hasn’t even been a week since the birth, and... This isn’t something I have any control over. Something’s wrong with my body.”
Emre frowned deeply. “I want to help. I could hear you having... problems. If it’s something I can do... I just need to figure out how to balance that with keeping Bean warm.”
He glanced helplessly at the little ball of fur cradled in his hands.
“I think Uriel might have a solution,” Zenith said.
Emre perked up. “Really?”
“Yes, really.” Zenith tried not to look too desperate, but it was hard when Emre’s warmth was still imprinted in his lap. “I’ll see you later, okay? Gotta work on my book.” He gestured vaguely at the screen.
“Right, of course.” Emre bobbed his head.
But his gaze dropped knowingly to the hard line in Zenith’s pants. Zenith blushed.
With a tiny smirk, Emre left the office, his hips swaying a little. Zenith cursed and shoved his hand between his legs.
