Chapter 22

Iwoke up early, just to make sure I wasn’t dreaming. I wasn’t. Walker’s beside me and by the way my body feels, we ran a marathon last night, which included the pole vaults. I lean on my elbow, moving the sheet to get a better look at him.

His wavy hair spikes at the ends, here and there.

A strong jawline frames those perfect lips.

His chest is massive helping to outline his abs.

Needless to say, I’ve never seen a deeper V cut in my life.

It could be because his girth lays along his thigh that makes the entire package perfect.

His legs are cut, showcasing each muscle.

“Are you staring or glaring at me?” His voice is raspy with sleep.

“Neither.” I smirk when he forces one eye open.

“But you’re looking at me.” He squints from the light streaming through the windows.

“I’m ogling you. There’s a difference.” I toss back the cover. “Geez, someone’s touchy.” I roll my eyes and start to crawl from the bed.

“I’m about to touch you. Come here.” Walker’s hand is around my stomach, tugging me back into him.

“Hey, Mr.” I pretend to fight as he tucks me into his chest.

“Mmm, I like this.” He moves my hair over his arm and breathes into my ear. “Have I mentioned how much I love your hair?”

“The way you pull it, I thought maybe you were wanting to get rid of it.”

His body goes rigid behind me. “I thought you said I didn’t hurt you?”

My stomach knots, thinking I’ve worried him.

I twist my body, staring at him. “Walker, you didn’t hurt me.

” I close my eyes, swallowing hard. Fuck, just say it.

“I loved it. All of it. The hair pulling, the hard fuck, the grinding and most of all, the way you took control. It’s crazy scary how well you know my body. ”

“I’ve studied it long enough, I should know your hips better than you. Or at least your ass.” He shrugs.

My face turns red. “My stars, you know how to embarrass a girl.”

“Baby, after last night, I know your body so well, I could tell your momma a thing or two about it.” His lip curls, and he winks at me.

“I bet you say that to all the girls.” I glare at him. Before I realize what’s happening, he flips me over and is on top of me, leering.

“Say it again. I mean it, Reese.” He leans down, smashing our mouths together. “For the record, I never left with Candy.”

“But you have. You two were a thing, right?” Why did I ask? I don’t want to know. It’s his past. I’m a glutton for self-hate.

He shakes his head and sits back on his heels, straddling me. “About a year ago, I was in a bad place. I went home with a lot of women but her, twice. I’ve not gone home with her since.”

“Oh, I see.” My stomach rolls with anxiety.

“No, I don’t think you do.” He rubs his hand over his face. “When I walked away with her, it was for you.” His brows knit together.

“For me? The hell you say it was for me.” I try to wiggle my way free. “Let me up,” I demand. He falls to the bed, and I scramble to the floor. I grab my t-shirt, yanking it over my head.

“Would you stop?” He glares at me. “You brought it up.”

My face flames as rage fills me. “Maybe I did but I sure as hell didn’t need a blow by blow.”

“I didn’t give you a blow by blow,” he grumbles.

“I know you’re more, shall I say, versed with dating than I am but damn.” I stomp from the room, looking for my things. Sad thing is, I’m not sure it’s Walker I’m mad at.

“Hell, no! You are not leaving.” He follows me into the living room, buck-ass naked.

“Seriously?” I gape at him.

He saunters over in all his glory, jerking the Hammer of Justice off the table. “I hold the hammer, I get to talk and then you can have a turn.” I fold my arms over my chest. Why in the hell did I agree to this shit? “You keep bringing her up. I wanted to explain why I walked away with her.”

I reach over, ripping the hammer from him. “I didn’t want to know you fucked her. I assumed that already, asshole.”

“It was a year ago. She meant nothing then and even less now.” I shake the hammer at him, and he takes it from me.

“Fine, I’ll go on. I hated, despised the things she was spewing.

And you stood there, taking it. What the fuck?

You might not like yourself, Reese, but I’ll be damned if I allow anyone to talk about you that way. ”

Well, damn. Where’s that fucking hammer? I yank it from his hand. “I can’t defend myself when it’s true, Walker.”

“What? None of what she said is true.” His brows snap together.

“You are gorgeous. You’re rich, like beyond young, starving attorney rich. The fact that you’re interested in me may never sink in. And yes, we fuck well together but that’s where it ends. I’m not even close to being in your league.”

He moves slowly. Every sinew is defined as he leans down, taking the hammer.

“I’m in no league. I fucked up so badly, people turned their backs on me for months.

As for the money, ask my parents why I haven’t touched it?

I’m not sure how I look to you but damn, you’ve seen my brother.

What the fuck am I supposed to do? Of course, I’m gonna work out.

” He takes a deep breath, snaking his arm around my waist. He presses into me, inches from my face.

“As for you, I’d fuck you on the damn table of the courthouse if you’d let me.

I got a damn hard-on the minute I ran into you at the center.

” He clutches me, breathing against my ear.

“You’ve wrecked me. You fit me in every way.

And I’m positive I’ll never be the same. ”

I slide my hand down his arm, wrapping it around the hammer. “I’m not sure I’ll ever see myself the way you do.”

“Ditto.” He tightens his grip on the tool, cracking a smile as I try to pry it loose. “I’m thinking this needs to be The Hammer of Love if we continue to use it for our relationship and not actual courtroom issues.”

“Relationship? I haven’t agreed to anything.”

He tightens his arm around me, pulling me up on my tiptoes. “I’m happy to fuck around with you, Red, but I want more.” His lips crash into mine, and I melt in his arms.

Walker hauls me into his chest, and the hammer is dropped to the floor, forgotten.

He leans me against the wall, and I wrap my legs around him.

I gasp when he lowers me down onto his waiting cock, sensitive from the earlier activity.

I relax as he pushes my back up the wall.

His hand lands on my thigh, working its way down to my knee. He grips it, hauling my leg higher.

His works his hips, slowly at first until he’s pounding me into the wall, triggering my orgasm. It rushes through me, provoking me to scream when it explodes. “Oh, my fucking heavens. Walker.”

He thrusts a few more times before joining me. His head rests against mine, both of us trembling. Until the knock at the door.

“Fuck,” Walker mutters.

“Who’s that?” My eyes are bugging out of my head.

“Just a minute,” he calls, carrying me to the bedroom and laying me down. “I’m not sure who it is but they have to have a key.” He drags his pants up his legs, picking a shirt up off the floor. “I’ll be right back.”

I scramble to find some bottoms, praying no one needs to come in here. I hear muffled voices but can’t make out anything. When Walker calls my name, I freeze.

“Reese?” I stand stock still, thinking if I’m quiet they’ll forget about me. “Dammit, Reese. He knows you’re here.” I straighten my shirt, realizing then I don’t have my bra. I scan the room. His jacket catches my eyes, and I put it on to hide myself.

I open the door to find Walker standing by it. “I was coming to get you.” He smiles at me and takes my hand. “Reese, I’d like to introduce my parents. My mother, Cynthia and my father, Ian.”

I can’t get my mouth to close.

“We’re sorry to intrude. We had no idea he would have company.” Cynthia pats my hand as I shake hers.

“We wondered if he even dated anymore. My, you’re gorgeous.” Ian smiles at me and without a doubt, he’s Walker’s Dad.

“Thank you. Please, don’t worry. We should’ve been up and out already.” What in the hell am I saying? Kill me now.

“Walker tells us you’re an attorney also.” Ian’s smile is as infectious as his son’s.

“That was Ava and Riley. I hadn’t talked about her because I thought she hated me.” My head spins on Walker, and he chuckles. “Remember, asshole?” He points to himself.

I wind my arm around him, pulling him to me. “Term of endearment, I assure you.”

Cynthia giggles. “We heard how much you like each other.” I stand, petrified, my face ashen, and Walker snickers. “Oh, I meant not just now. Before. I mean, before now.” Her face is as red as my lips are from biting into them.

“Well, kids, Cynthia has managed to embarrass us all. We’re gonna go now that we know Walker’s okay,” Ian says. “We hope to see you at Christmas.”

“I’m having my mother down for a few days.”

“Bring her. We’d loved to have you.” Cynthia’s eyes crinkle at the corners.

“It’s whatever Walker thinks. I’ll leave it up to him.”

“She’ll be there, if she doesn’t kill me first.” Walker splays his hand on my ass. I elbow him to make him move it, which he doesn’t. “Thanks for stopping by. Love y’all.”

His mom kisses him on the cheek. “Be good to her. I hear she’s amazing.”

“That’s what I’ve been telling her all morning.”

Ian bursts into laughter, and Walker snickers. My face burns from humiliation. I can’t get my mouth to shut. It just continues to hang open.

“Boys, I think y’all have embarrassed her enough. Good lord, we want her to stay.” Cynthia tugs on Ian’s arm. “Please forgive us. We’re an eclectic bunch.”

“That’s code for Batshit Crazy.” Ian stares blankly at me. Walker covers his mouth, trying to stifle his laughter.

“Oh, good. My mom will fit right in.” Walker falls over the back of the couch, laughing. I slap at him when he kicks at me with his feet.

“Stop it, dammit.” I can’t help but laugh. Walker rights himself and joins us again.
