Chapter 10 The Queen’s Betrayal

Zhou Zilang told me they had once been the old king's most valued assistants.

After the old king died, the Queen helped her son take the throne and ruled from behind the scenes.

She took back their power and pushed them aside.

She even refused to let them fight when the Insectoids attacked.

She had said with fake kindness, "You two have done enough for the Empire. It is time to rest."

Because of this, the Empire lost battle after battle against the Insectoids and gave up many cities and resources.

When Fu Yanan saw the situation turning bad, he secretly joined the troops and took part in the hardest offensive.

Ten thousand Empire soldiers against one hundred thousand Insectoid troops.

Even so, he turned the tide alone.

But right before victory, he saw the Queen being held hostage.

The Queen should have been safe in the Royal Palace. Why was she there?

Fu Yanan did not think twice. He was the Empire's most loyal warrior.

He was lured to an empty place and forced to drop his weapons.

Meanwhile, Zhou Zilang, who had been teaching the young king in the Royal Palace, found secret letters.

They clearly showed someone was working with the Insectoid leader to swallow the Empire.

He knew it was bad and rushed to the battlefield.

But he was too late.

Fu Yanan was badly wounded and accused of treason. He could not defend himself.

Zhou Zilang fought back, yet letters with the Insectoids were found in his own house.

He looked at the Queen in disbelief and understood everything at once.

The real traitor was the Empire's own mistress.
