"After they locked us in Extreme North Prison, the Queen still did not feel safe. She sent many assassins. We survived by pretending to be mad."
Zhou Zilang gave a bitter smile.
I was too shocked to speak.
How could this be?

"So those people tried to kill me today because the Queen thought I knew her secret?"
I cried out, goosebumps rising across my skin.
Zhou Zilang smiled. "You should leave. We wanted to use you to gain Shang Xu's help, but we cannot drag you into this."
I stood up at once. "Who are you underestimating? Protecting the Empire is my duty too. I have a way to help you."
Fu Yanan watched me quietly. "You are the first person willing to believe us."
His gaze made me a little embarrassed. I turned away and made an encrypted call to Shang Xu.
