Chapter 7 #2
“Don’t touch me,” I snapped through clenched teeth.
“This family is sick! Every single one of you let me live my life as if I were free, and you would have taken my daughter from me. I can only imagine what other secrets you have buried. I’m leaving.
Please… do not call me, because I won’t be calling you. ”
I snatched my purse from the chair beside me and stood up. As soon as I turned to leave…
“Devyn, wait,” Nanna said weakly. “There’s more you should know.”
I turned around slowly, glaring at her, tears covering my cheeks because they just wouldn’t stop.
“Not today and no time soon. Goodbye, Vivian.” I turned on my heels and walked toward the door as fast as my legs would carry me.
This family had too many secrets, but this one was too much for my heart to bear. Nanna betrayed me worse than anyone. I had nobody, and this was the loneliest I’d ever felt in my life.
When I made it home, my mom called me back-to-back until I ended up blocking her.
She probably wanted to talk about the conversation with Nanna, but they could all go to hell.
I decided that I wouldn’t spend my entire day crying, so I took a nap.
Now, I was on my way to an event Savannah was throwing.
She was one of the baddest sports agents. Savannah had the gift of gab. The deals she negotiated for her clients kept her in high demand. She was that bitch in her field. Vic was pulling into the parking lot of the venue when my phone buzzed. When I opened it, it was my regular deposit from Azani.
Every week, money was transferred to the account he set up for me. Now, I know I said I didn’t want him to contact me directly, but I would never turn down money. It wasn’t the money that had my heart racing as I looked down at the screen. It was the fact that I still missed him.
I shook off the feeling because tonight, I was having fun. Vic could run back and tell Azani whatever he wanted. Tonight was about me and my freedom. To live the way I wanted and say fuck the consequences. If Azani got mad, oh well. We had months to get married, and until then, I’d do as I pleased.
“Vic, you can pull around the back. Savannah has a parking spot reserved for me. The code is 0516,” I said.
He just nodded and pulled around back. After he parked, he helped me out, keeping enough distance to let me breathe, but close enough to watch our surroundings. I peeped one more car that was always with Vic and just shook my head.
All this security for just me.
As we walked closer to the door, I could feel the bass rumbling under my feet. I knew this wasn’t a regular industry party when I heard KenTheMan playing. Savannah was on her best bullshit tonight. We were about to have a mothafuckin’ ball. I was glad I was dressed for the occasion.
“Big Sh*t Talker” blared through the speakers as I scanned the crowd, looking for her. When I looked up, she was standing on a table, rapping that shit word for word. I moved quicker, and I could feel Vic stepping just as fast behind me.
Savannah spotted me and grabbed the mic from the DJ. “My mothafuckin’ friend is in the building! Big Dev, bring yo’ fine ass up here, girl. Show these bitches how you coming!”
I passed Vic my purse, and he helped me up onto the table.
He gave me a look because he knew I was about to show my ass.
Savannah wrapped her arms around me tightly, kissing my cheek.
My girl was already faded. I could tell from how hard she was smiling.
Her wig was laid, her face beat, outfit raw as fuck.
Vannah was thick-thick. Like, disrespectfully. Had these niggas eating out the palm of her hand, calling her Juicy.
“Tell the DJ to play ‘Yo Face’,” I said against her ear.
“Play that ‘Yo Face.’ My sis wanna hear that shit!” she screamed into the mic.
I rolled my hips as soon as the beat dropped. Vannah was right beside me, bent over, shaking her ass. Somebody passed me a bottle of DVB and a cup. I dropped some in as I squatted, then took the shot back. I poured two more and threw those back, too.
Vannah grabbed the bottle, taking it to the head like she was in for an all-nighter. She then got on the mic and rapped the lyrics.
“Aye, I really want yo’ face in this shit. I don’t really want you getting up for breaks in this bitch!”
I snatched the mic, still dancing, and found a nigga in the crowd to tease. “Aye, this pussy got a million dollar place when it sit. And it ain’t my birthday, but it’s cake in this bitch!”
He was a fine, chocolate ass nigga. Tall, solidly built, walking toward me. He stood right in front of me as I danced in his face. When his hands gripped my waist, I glanced over at Vic and smirked. All he could do was shake his head.
The man standing in front of me smelled good as fuck, and when he smiled, he had a mouth full of diamonds.
I wonder if I can get some head in peace.
I was damn sure gonna try. I refused to have sex with Azani.
Loving him and fuckin’ him right now would trap me with him physically and emotionally, and I didn’t need that.
I slid down from the table and turned around, backing my ass up on the man.
He grabbed my hips as I bent over, touching my toes, shaking my ass.
“Ayyyeee! Get that shit, sis!” Vanna screamed, hands in the air, holding the bottle.
This man had his hands all over my body, and I didn’t even know his name. I danced to one more song, then turned around to face him.
“I’m Miko,” he said, pulling me to his chest.
My heart didn’t race. I felt no spark. He was fine as hell, but there was no chemistry. However, I definitely needed a release, so I’d kick it with him just to see where it would go.
“Devyn,” I said, leaning closer.
He smirked, leaning his head back. “What you doin’ after this?”
I giggled, wrapping my arms around his neck and leaning up to whisper in his ear. “Depends. You eat pussy?” I whispered.
I didn’t have time to play games and all that extra bullshit.
He pulled back, smiling at me, diamonds glistening in the dark. “Yeah… I do. You want me to eat yours, Devyn?”
“What do you think?” I purred, licking my lips.
He just nodded, smirking. This nigga didn’t know I was a headhunter. I had niggas in my phone just for the head. Everybody can’t fuck me, but head, yeah, I needed that up off niggas.
Savannah passed me two more shots, and I took them down, still dancing with Miko. When I looked over at Vic again, he was watching me like a hawk.
If he told Azani, I’m not talking to him for a week.
I stayed hugged up with Miko all night. Vannah was sitting in some nigga’s lap, whispering in his ear, giggling and shit. Miko pulled me over to where he was sitting, and Vic followed us close behind.
Miko turned around, grilling Vic. “Nigga, what the fuck you on? The fuck you following us for?” he spat.
Vic gave him a look and cut his eyes at me. “Devyn, tell this nigga who the fuck I am.”
I pressed my hand into Miko’s chest, trying to calm the situation down. Miko didn’t know that he would likely die where he stood if he kept talking to Vic like that.
“Miko, Vic is my security. You can relax,” I said softly.
“Yeah, aight,” Miko said, still grilling Vic.
I let out a breath and just stared at Vic. He was smiling big as hell, like he knew something I didn’t.
Miko pulled me behind him, toward his table. When he sat down, he pulled me onto his lap.
Vic stood closer than he usually would, which put me on edge even more. As I sat in Miko’s lap, I felt like I was being watched, but I didn’t see anybody. Vic was still standing there, eyes scanning the crowd like he usually did.
I couldn’t even relax. I grabbed the blunt from Miko and hit it hard. My eyes scanned the crowd one more time, and I still didn’t see anything. Savannah came over to Miko’s table with the nigga she was with, and we just danced all night. Smoked up their weed and took more shots.
This made me feel like myself again. I felt free. Miko’s hands moved all over my body as I danced in front of him. Still, I felt nothing. No matter how fine he was, there was no heat between us.
Savannah leaned over and whispered in my ear. “I’m bouta head out with this nigga. My assistant can shut this shit down. Call me in the morning.”
I leaned over and wrapped my arms around her. “I love you. Be safe.”
She told me she loved me, waved at the nigga, then turned to Vic. “Byyyeee, Vic,” she sang, walking away.
Vic just chuckled and stood there. He hadn’t moved an inch since I came over here. Miko’s phone buzzed in his pocket. When he took it out, he tapped my leg to get up.
“What’s your number? Ima text you this address. I gotta make a move real quick. Slide through in about thirty minutes.”
I passed him my phone, and he put in his number. He leaned over, kissed my cheek, then walked off. My phone was still open, and I looked at the address.
I’m still going… chemistry or not. If he eats pussy good, I won’t need chemistry for that.
“I’m ready, Vic,” I said.
He just passed me my purse, letting me walk ahead of him.
He was back to giving me personal space, just four steps behind me.
I was tipsy as hell as I walked toward the exit.
My body felt light as I mentally prepared myself to hopefully see a man about a horse, and with a good head on his shoulders.
When we stepped outside, the cold air hit me, cooling my body off immediately.
Vic walked ahead of me toward the truck and opened the door. I was so faded that I didn’t even realize the familiar scent that hit my nose. When I looked up, Azani was sitting there, in the dark, smoking a blunt. My heart hammered in my chest as we stared at each other.
“Get in, Devyn,” Azani said, hitting his blunt again.
I turned around and glared at Vic. He stood there with a straight face, holding the door.
He fuckin’ told on me like I’m a child!
I snapped my head back toward Azani. “Why are you here? You didn’t hear shit I said about boundaries?” I sassed, rolling my eyes.
