Chapter 5 Blame on Loop
Dad and Mom finally noticed something was wrong. They tried to drag Lin Kai away.
Mom was crying, tears streaming down her face. “How did this happen? Weiwei just calmed down. My son… why you too?”
Dad was furious. In front of everyone, the Lin family’s reputation was in shreds.
“You unfilial son—let go! Stop talking. Shut up.”
“I command you to cure her right now.”
“If you can’t cure her, you’ll all be buried with her.”
Lin Kai wouldn’t listen. Dad lost it. He slapped him hard, several times, roaring, “Shut your mouth! You’ve disgraced the entire Lin family! Get out of my sight!”
Words he used to save just for me. Now it was their turn. Pure satisfaction.
Lin Kai still wouldn’t let go. The doctor’s shoulders were bleeding.
He kept repeating those domineering CEO lines, over and over.
“I command you to cure her right now.”
“If you can’t cure her, you’ll all be buried with her.”
Mom grabbed my arm. “Chen Wan, please talk to your brother. Make him stop.”
I shook her off and stepped back. “How could I stop Brother? He never listens to me. Maybe he’s just too worried about Weiwei and lost control? She’s the only one he’d listen to right now.”
Mom’s eyes lit up like I’d thrown her a lifeline. She turned to Lin Weiwei. “Weiwei, quick—talk to your brother. He’s only like this because of you.”
Lin Weiwei was still in pain and snapped, “What does this have to do with me? He’s doing it to himself. I’m the one who’s hurt!”
She forgot her perfect white lotus act completely.
I put on an outraged face. “Brother only got hurt trying to stop Weiwei earlier. Now he’s fighting the doctor because of her. What if… what if he hit his head when he was trying to hold her back?”
I tapped my temple. “He keeps saying the same thing, like he’s possessed. Weiwei must have smashed his head by accident.”
Dad and Mom both turned to stare at Lin Weiwei. Brainwashed as they were, their son apparently still ranked higher.
Mom’s voice shook. “Weiwei… did you do something?”
Lin Weiwei was beyond caring. She had to clear her name, even if it meant throwing a tantrum.
“Mom, how can you suspect me?”
“You didn’t stop me—that’s why I got hurt!”
Then she lost all filter. “If you’d stopped me, none of this would have happened!”
I smiled inside. I silently commanded the Plot Replay System to replay those two lines 99 times.
“We tried! We couldn’t hold you—look at how hurt we are!” Mom wailed.
Dad exploded. “We all tried. Look at your brother. Look at me and your mom. And you don’t feel a shred of gratitude?”
“You didn’t stop me—that’s why I got hurt.”
“If you’d stopped me, none of this would have happened!”
Dad’s rage boiled over. “Listen to yourself!”
Mom looked horrified. The daughter she’d spoiled rotten had turned into a monster.
“You didn’t stop me—that’s why I got hurt.”
“If you’d stopped me, none of this would have happened!”
“You’re still blaming us?” Dad roared.
“You didn’t stop me—that’s why I got hurt.”
“If you’d stopped me, none of this would have happened!”
She repeated the same two lines again and again, her voice growing shriller with every loop.
Dad finally snapped. He slapped her across the face.
Blood trickled from her mouth, but she kept screaming the same accusations.
He backhanded her again.
I watched, utterly delighted.
“Shut your mouth! Where are your manners? Your class? You’ve destroyed the Lin family’s reputation!”
He slapped her twice more.
Mom rushed to stop him. I almost sighed in disappointment.
Lin Kai and Lin Weiwei kept repeating their lines.
Dad and Mom completely broke down. “How did this happen? My son, my daughter… I only wanted the best for you. Why won’t you listen?”
I stepped forward at the perfect moment. “This might be shock. Too much trauma. Don’t worry—I’ll find a specialist.” I tapped my temple again.
Dad and Mom still thought of themselves as high-society. Their children making a scene in a private hospital—and it was already all over the internet. Reputation in ruins.
They didn’t care about anything else anymore. They waved me off to handle it.
Perfect. Free rein.
I left the room and found the top neurologist and psychiatrist. Made sure to mention they were the young master and young lady of the Lin Group.
