Everette

Ifollow our pack's lead through the main part of the giant barn and into a small Quiet Room.

Simple signage indicates that it's for those who are sensory-sensitive and need a break, small children, or anyone needing a moment to themselves.

I hadn't caught it on the way in, but I'm not surprised he had.

The space is thoughtful, and just another reason I add to my internal list of 'whys' to return to Honeybee Haven.

I couldn't turn off the part of my brain that's constantly looking for ways we can improve our own resort.

It's a brief but significant reprieve from the onslaught of insecurities that I had just moments ago.

And things like this, this room, are great ideas to take and run with our own twist, especially with our renovation project in the works.

Glancing at Calder as we shuffle into the room, it doesn't seem like the time to mention it, though. And frankly, I don't know if I have the energy to fully map it out and explore it further. So I file it away for later.

The room's small and lacking the harsher lights beyond the door that's shutting us in.

Materials that I assume buffer sound mount the calming light green walls.

Bench seating and two plush rocking chairs sit opposite a large window looking out over a section of their land.

The fact that it's Lavender from the smaller herb section doesn't go unnoticed.

I bet they sell bundles in their small market.

We sit in silence, slowly rocking in our own respective chairs, manufactured white noise filling the space before he finally speaks.

"It's kind of been a nice change having a bit more rain this year. It's the most we've gotten as far back as I can remember. When it's always sunny, the gloom and rain can be enjoyable in its own right. Also makes the sunny days just a little brighter."

The way he speaks, I begin wondering if he's actually referring to the weather and rain sprinkling beyond the window, or if I'm just desperately searching for a deeper meaning.

Maybe he's trying to softly remind me of something.

Either way, it's a nice tone for the conversation that I can appreciate.

The view also doesn't hurt. The purple and greenery against the growingly gray sky is stunning.

"Anyway," he shrugs, "could be something to take into consideration when planning and forecasting for our upcoming Fall and Winter seasons, though."

Taking a deep breath, I nod and voice my agreement, wondering if I had been, in fact, reaching.

But, in truth, he's absolutely right. Rainfall lingering into colder months, quickly approaching, could be bad.

Too much snow and tourists can't, or won't, travel to our little town.

The roads become extremely dangerous and the potential of being snowed in is a very real possibility.

"That little omega is following her own instincts, leaning into her own primal.

Something told her that the moment was right between her and Adrian.

" He looks over to me without judgment, chair serenely moving.

"Her intuition called her to complete their bond because they needed it.

Not because you two don't need it, or that she doesn't want it just as badly with you.

We need to support her and trust in her decisions. "

My head snaps back to his, brow furrowed. "I—wha—yes, of course I trust her decisions. Of course I do, Calder. Logically, I know that. Really, truly I do." My head hangs before my gaze is drawn back out towards the sea of purple, throat thick and uncomfortable, unsure what to say next.

He nods. "I believe you. It was more of a reminder than anything.

Sometimes, we need those, too." He sighs slowly before continuing.

"You know, growing up with my mom, it was fascinating to me watching her navigate multiple relationships.

Somehow, she always knew what each of my fathers needed.

Hell, even what I needed. Of course, they were always there for her in return, plus some.

But seeing her instincts and intuition in practice was always curious to me.

How she just, knew. Omegas possess a natural insight and intuition that connect deeply to everything around us. "

He pauses, and I wait for him to continue.

"Her bonding with Adrian, Sage, and myself doesn't mean she wants you any less, that you're less-than for any reason.

It just means that the timing was right for that piece of her puzzle to fall into place.

Try to find patience, with yourself and her.

There is no timeline, no rush. She'll know exactly when it's supposed to happen. "

He stands, reaching out a hand for me to take, helping me to my feet. "She loves you, Ever. With everything she is. I promise you."

"Thank you." It's simple, and I hope the two little words encompass the depth of my gratitude. My throat is a little too thick to continue with the whirlwind of emotion rushing through me.

Gripping me in a bear hug, he pats my back and steps towards the door. "Take your time. I'm going to go see what trouble those three have managed to get into on their own."

And with a simple wink, he's gone, leaving me alone to find my center before facing my omega.
