The Restoration War for Kentucky

Famine, plague, purges, and the fall of local rule have already stripped Central Kentucky when a power claiming the old United States arrives.

The Continuity Union enters Woodford County carrying preserved seed, working radios, disciplined soldiers, and paperwork that brands it the lawful national government, and weary communities reach for food and order even as others treat the same arrival as conquest in familiar clothing.

Daniel Mercer, stripped of office, troops, and public confidence after exile from the government he helped found, is caught between Emma's temporary defense coalition and a restoration drive that could ratify his worst compromises after the fact.

His estranged brother Aaron then takes a logistics post with the Union, and that inside access may be the only way to halt a takeover—or the path that places the Mercer family in Marshal Gideon Voss's hands.

As competing authorities fight over Kentucky's harvest, Daniel has to choose what he will ruin so an army cannot keep it, whose warnings he will trust, and whether legal continuity without living consent is simply occupation.
