Chapter Eleven. #2
I lifted my gun and aimed at Earl.
He spat again, unfazed. The Gerrit next to him wasn’t and raised a rifle. In response, my club reacted, and then the Gerrits did too.
“Enough, ya fuckin’ hot-headed eejits. I said I’d call, Sapphire,” Earl repeated. He shoved the shotgun of the guy standing beside him down.
I took a stab in the dark. “Loretta was seen on camera, Earl.”
“She’s bringing her here.” Earl spat again.
“There’s vengeance for this, Earl. Loretta crossed the line.”
“You’re getting the bitch back; don’t push me, Sapphire,” Earl snapped.
“You forgot your place. Gerrits don’t fuckin’ challenge my club. You don’t dictate to us, and if someone steps out of line, retribution is swift.”
A junk car pulled up, and Loretta climbed out with swagger. She sneered and then moved to the passenger side. Kiki was dragged out, and my temper ignited.
“I said unharmed,” I snarled. “Does she look uninjured?”
“Loretta, you fuckin’ stupid cunt!” Earl yelled.
“Who’s her family?” I demanded.
“Nobody ain’t sayin’ shit, bitch,” Loretta crowed. She brutally shoved Kiki, who was seriously hurt. “This stuck-up cunt learned a lesson.”
“Those,” Belladonna declared, pointing at four men and five women.
“Cyber, fuck their electronics,” I ordered.
“Done.”
“Candle, that bitch, she looks to be Loretta’s mother,” I said.
Candle nodded, and her hands lit up.
The Gerrits all stepped backwards, and Loretta stopped gloating. Candle aimed at the mother and let loose. The bitch screamed and fell to her knees. Candle kept up the torture as someone moved forward, shotgun raised.
Sparrow grinned and bent the barrel back so it faced him. The idiot dropped it and backed away.
“Mama!” Loretta shrieked and ran toward her.
Sparrow held her in place as I pointed to the older woman. “Heart.” Heart’s eyes closed, and Kiki suddenly gasped in relief as Heart stole her pain and forced it onto what I assumed was Loretta’s grandma.
“Blade, Dagger,” I commanded, and the men began yelling and shouting in abject fear. Earl watched, tight-lipped, as we tortured his family and knew he was helpless against it.
“Keep it up until Stitch has healed Kiki,” I ordered.
“Enough, bitch,” Earl yelled.
“No, Earl. That woman is disabled, and your redneck inbred fuckin’ whatever Loretta is, beat the crap out of her. I say when it’s done!” I bellowed.
Loretta wailed and shouted abuse as she watched us torture her family.
Minutes ticked by while the Gerrits could only watch. One moved to shoot, and Tinkerbell froze his hands. Oops, looks like he’d lose fingers later on.
“Sapphire, my dear, I’m okay,” Kiki said fifteen minutes later. “I’d love to see my nephew, please.”
I marched over to Loretta. “You kidnapped someone belonging to the Royal Harlots and believed you were in control. Now I’ll take something of yours.”
Loretta’s grandma suddenly dropped to the ground, clutching her chest.
Sparrow paled a little, and I knew she’d done it.
“Let’s get Kiki home,” I murmured as people began rushing over to the old lady who lay still. Loretta screamed incessantly.
“Make sure she relives this memory every night and understands it’s because of what she did to Kiki,” I said to Belladonna, whose eyes turned white.
Blade and Dagger covered her while she locked this in for Loretta. I approached Earl. “Didn’t have to come to this. Control your family, Earl. Because I swear, some think you’re weak.”
“Get the fuck out, Sapphire. Take the cunt and leave. We got kin to mourn.”
“This is on Loretta, Earl, not you or anyone else. It’s on her head. Don’t bother looking for revenge.” I stepped closer, ignoring his smell. “You and the elders need to address the young ones. They don’t respect you.”
Earl glanced at me, and I saw the meanness in his eyes. “Leave now, Sapphire, before I decide the risk is worth it. We won’t get all of ya, but we’ll get enough to hurt.”
I nodded and headed for my bike. Sailor brought an SUV and helped Kiki into it. Hopefully, they’d learned my lesson. But I doubted it. Earl and the other elders were losing control.
Nun
I rode like a bat out of hell and parked as close as I could. Jumping off my Hog, I jogged down the road and saw the crowd. Shit. I shoved my way through and discovered Blue sitting on the grass with his head on his knees.
I ducked under the tape, and a uniform went to stop me, but Cassidy saw me and waved me on. Blue didn’t even move as I dropped beside him and wrapped him in my arms.
“We’ll find her, we’ll bring Kiki back,” I promised.
“Apart from you, she’s all I have,” Blue murmured and leaned into me.
“She’s alive, and the club will recover her.”
“We were fuckin’ while she was fighting for her life,” Blue muttered, and I felt his self-blame and hate.
“Kiki wouldn’t hold that against you. What will matter is you had people in your corner to bring her back,” I whispered.
“Nun, get him out of here,” Wylde commanded.
“I’m not leaving,” Blue retorted, lifting his head. The agony on his face took my breath away.
“Do you have anything?” he asked Wylde.
“Loretta Brown showed up on the cameras. She kidnapped Kiki; we have evidence. The uniforms are reporting she’s not home. We’ve got alerts out.”
I pulled my phone and messaged Sapphire.
“Let’s go to the hospital. If they find Kiki, that’s where they’ll bring her,” I suggested.
“I couldn’t protect my aunt, the most important person in my life. How the fuck can I claim and protect you?” Blue whispered brokenly.
“Hey,” I cupped his face. “You do, Blue. I’m free to be who I want, and you never judge me. Don’t you see? I’m safe in your hands.”
“You care for Priest too.”
“Yes, and it’s not because you’re lacking.”
“I won’t make you pick,” Blue muttered.
My heart stuttered. “Don’t leave me.” Fear rushed through me. Was that what Blue meant? No! I couldn’t allow that to happen.
“I’m not. I’m just going to have to accept sharing you. But I’m not interested in sex with a man. I’m not bisexual. I don’t know if Priest is, but I’m not.” Blue got to his feet. “I need to head to the hospital. You’re right. They’ll take Kiki there, and Susan shouldn’t be alone.”
He reached down and pulled me up. “Don’t leave me,” he whispered, repeating my words.
“Never,” I promised and meant it.
We headed for my bike as I prayed I’d hear news soon. Hopefully, Sapphire had found Kiki. If she died because of me, I don’t think Blue would ever recover.
Blue
Susan was sitting up and couldn’t stop apologising.
“Hey, Susan, stop. You were unable to do anything,” I interrupted.
“But if I’d got the door…”
“No. It wouldn’t have made a difference. The doctor said they’re keeping you in overnight for a concussion, but they’ll discharge you tomorrow. I’ll put you up in a hotel until the house is released.”
“No, I can sleep at a friend’s—”
“You won’t!” I exclaimed. “You and Aunt Kiki will go to a hotel while we tidy up the house and secure it.”
“No, they won’t.” Nun interrupted. “Sapphire has Kiki. Sailor’s bringing Kiki in, and she’s mainly unharmed. The club is escorting her. Loretta had her.”
“That bitch…” I broke off and shut my mouth with a sideways glance at Susan.
“Is she really unhurt?” Susan said.
“Yes, our medic, Stitch, looked her over.”
Nun held my eyes. Kiki had been injured, and Stitch had healed her. That’s what she couldn’t say. I nodded slowly.
“We have a house we rent out; it’s free. You and Kiki can go there until her home is repaired and straightened up. Plus, you’re going away to the resort next week. In fact, I’ll contact Belladonna, who runs it, and see if you can all go early.”
“Oh, we hadn’t finished packing! We still had some items to purchase,” Susan exclaimed.
“I’m sure Wylde will collect your cases, and you can buy the rest in Wolfeboro,” Nun said.
I read between the lines. Sapphire had done something to the Gerrits and wanted us out of the way in case of retaliation. Just another typical day in the life of the Royal Harlots.
