Chapter Fifty
Reid
Caroline has been upstairs trying to pick a dress to wear for the past hour and a half. The time of our reservation is growing nearer and I’m getting more and more anxious for this evening. A quiet knock at the door snaps me out of my zone.
“Caroline! Mom’s here!” I yell up the stairs as I make my way to unlock the front door.
“Well don’t you look fancy!” Mom’s chipper voice greets me, as I swing open the wooden door.
“Thanks Mom, sometimes I clean up nicely. At least this one hasn’t spit up on my dress shirt yet,” I say, handing her the baby.
“You can spit up on me any time, cutie.” She happily takes Chloe as she enters the living room. “Kinda weird knocking on a door that you just walked right into for twenty years.”
“Well ya know, you are still welcome to walk in at any time.” I say, closing the front door back behind her.
“Oh no, mister. I learned my lesson last time!”
Shit, I forgot about that. “Okay yeah, maybe better to knock… I’m gonna go see if Caroline is ready.”
I make my way up the stairs to find her stuffing way too much shit in her purse. “Good lord you scared the shit out of me.”
“Sorry, did you not hear me yell?” I laugh back.
And then I am rendered speechless as she turns to face me.
I stop in my tracks and take in her figure.
I have never questioned Caroline’s attractiveness, but it’s a little different now that we share the same house and see each other on our lowest effort days.
She’s lived in sweatpants and milk stained shirts for the better half of the past few months and struggled with her body appearance, eager to start working out again.
But none of that ever bothered me. If anything, I grew to appreciate the heart she had for her daughter and her motherly instincts even more.
But now she is starting to get her glow back and I can’t help but stare at her in this current state.
The black fabric of her dress falls just enough to display her now larger set of breasts. She’s done her hair in loose waves that surround her face with just enough makeup to enhance her features. I am one lucky man.
“I did, but beauty takes time. Wanna put my shoes on for me?” She points at the strappy shoes on the floor before plopping on the bed.
“Of course, princess. Take a seat.” I slide on her black heels before she stands back up.
“Does this dress look okay on me?” She says, flattening out the bottom in the mirror.
“You look gorgeous, now let’s go get some pasta.” I smack her ass and usher her down the stairs.
