Chapter Three

Bzz. Bzz. Bzz. “Juni.. what is that noise?” Bzz.

Bzz. Bzz. “Ughhh, babe, turn it off, whatever it is, turn it off,” Reece shifts behind me—shoving the pillow over the top of his head with a groan.

Stirring awake, I realize Reece is complaining about a non-stop sound.

It takes a moment to figure out it’s my phone.

Facebook, to be exact. The annoying dinging sound of notifications.

I start scrolling to clear the notifications and put it on silent so it stops waking him up.

We were up so late last night. He needs his sleep.

As I’m scrolling, I swear my eyes actually bug out of my head.

Gavin Petrov's heart reacted to your photo. I looked puzzled at my phone screen. Gavin? Really? I click on his profile and start investigating. Hmm, not in a relationship. Seems like he has a good job going for him. He looks happy… healthy. He’s absolutely covered from head to toe in tattoos now, minus his beautiful face.

Continuing to scroll, I smirk. Ah, that explains it.

Somewhat, the last thing posted on his page.

He was tagged in a post by Brenden Hayes.

“Checking in” at Last Resort, the same bar where Reece and I met a few months ago.

How crazy is that? They must have had a good night, and he did that by accident.

Probably hasn’t given me a thought since he broke up with me that night.

This is terrible. I’m lying in my marital bed next to my brand new husband, thinking about the man who took my heart and broke it. Fuck you, Gavin, I think to myself as I clear the notification. No more of that. He’s in the past for a reason.

I turn over and snuggle up to my husband. Wrapping my arms around him and hooking my leg over his hip. “Good morning, husband,” I say flirtatiously, batting my eyes at him.

“Argh, mmhm. Good morning, wife. How did you sleep, Pretty Girl?“

“I slept so well knowing today is the first day of our forever,” I say, looking at him lovingly.

His green eyes light like flames. Dragging me to him so there is no space between us. “I’m going to start my day the best way I know how. I’m going to fuck my smoking hot wife until we both have had our fill.” He says with a growl as he nips my bottom lip a little harder than I expected him to…

Six years ago

“Oh my god! Gavin stop! I’m so ticklish!

Seriously, stop,” I squeal. A few of us from class decided to have a bonfire at Martinez’s house.

She’s one of the only ones who lives quite literally in the middle of nowhere.

Her house is in the woods on about fifteen acres.

We are safe enough to drink and not get in trouble, even though we are all underage.

I recently got a new-to-me vehicle. A friend of mine, her dad, sold me his Cabrio.

It came with a really bad ass system already in it, so I wanted to show it off to my friends.

Gavin is sitting in my passenger seat, sitting back and relaxing.

Everyone else is either by the fire or scattered around.

I’m leaning against my open passenger door, talking to Gavin.

A song by The Lacs is playing in the background.

A squeal leaves my mouth before I can even comprehend how I am now sitting on Gavin’s lap in my passenger seat.

“Relax, Любовь” ‘Love’. “Why are you tense?” Gavin whispers faintly in my ear.

Words don’t come because he takes my breath away. He starts massaging my shoulders while his breath lightly grazes my neck. His sandalwood scent invades all of my senses. Why is his scent so calming? Because he’s not, he makes my heart race out of my chest.

Sighing, I lean back into his chest, his fingers leave my shoulders and instantly go to my sides, and he starts to tickle me.

“GAVIN,” I giggle. “Please stop. I didn’t tell you I’m ticklish for you to use it against me!

” I jump off his lap and take off running.

I don’t really know where to go, but I need to find a hiding place soon.

I decided to run into the house and go up the staircase.

I know there is a bathroom I can hide in.

I’m halfway up the stairs when I start hearing the pounding of footsteps.

“Ahh ha! There you are, Любовь,” he says with a grin that could kill. As I turn to start running, I only get maybe two steps when Gavin’s body collides with mine, and I end up flat on my back on the landing. Liquid heat seems to replace his dark brown eyes, turning them almost black.

He reaches for my wrists and pins them above my head with his left hand. He’s grinning at me, with a liquid, fiery gaze.

My breath gets trapped between my lips, thinking he’s going to kiss me, I’m pinned to the landing of the staircase by Gavin’s hard and toned body.

He started to lean farther into me, the liquid heat in his eyes burning so bright.

I still can’t catch my breath. His breath lightly brushes my jaw, and he nuzzles the side of my neck as he starts to angle his face towards me.

I’m expecting him to lean in and capture my lips with his, but he doesn’t.

I’m met with a look of pure mirth. As his right hand makes its way to my ribs, he starts to tickle me again.

I can’t control the jerking of my body as I try to rip free of his grip on my wrist. So, I do the only thing I can do.

I lock my legs around his slim waist tightly, reaching up and capturing his lips with mine.

He immediately drops my wrist and snakes around my lower back and shoulders.

A deep guttural groan leaves his throat.

“Careful, Любовь”... "Are you sure we are ready for this?” he says, his eyes burning into mine.

“You have been so patient and kind to me, Gavin. I’m ready.” I said as I captured his lips again.

Just then, Gavin repositions himself onto his knees with my legs locked around his waist. He wraps his arms around my lower back and starts to kiss me again. With me wrapped around him so tightly, he stands up with ease. “Любовь, promise me you're serious?” he says breathlessly.

“Yes, Gavin, I promise,” I say with a small smile on my face. Quickly, Gavin grabs me and pulls me into a large coat closet that was in the hallway.

After tonight, our relationship seems so much more real.
