31.
“We can’t keep you as a teacher in our school. All the chaos that happened yesterday and your involvement in it, can lead the students’ minds in a negative direction” the principal says coldly.
I slowly nod my head, keeping my eyes lowered. My fingers tighten around the strap of my bag as I stand there silently, swallowing the lump forming in my throat.
“You can leave” he says flatly. Without saying a word, I turn around and walk out of his cabin. The moment the door closes behind me, I take a deep breath, trying to calm the storm rising inside my chest. My shoulders feel heavy.
It has been just fifteen days… and here I am. I hold my bag tightly against my side and start walking out of the school corridor. With every step, my heart feels heavier. My interest in teaching is slowly dying.
"Sita, tu serious ho rahi hai" my subconscious whispers.
(Sita, you are becoming serious)
I close my eyes for a moment and sigh in frustration. Sukoon se koi career ki tension lene bhi nahi deta hai mujhe.
(No one even lets me peacefully worry about my career)
I stomp my feet lightly on the ground in annoyance and continue walking toward the entrance. But suddenly my steps slow down as my eyes fall on the person standing there.
For a moment, I freeze. Then I don’t think twice. I run toward him and throw myself into his arms, hugging him tightly as if I have been holding everything inside for too long. This… this is exactly what I need right now.
“Sita” Baba says softly as he hugs me back, gently caressing my head.
“Where were you? I called you so many times but you didn’t pick my calls” I ask quickly as I pull back from the hug, looking at him with worry written all over my face. He sighs slowly.
“What happened, Baba? Is everything okay? Is Maa okay?” I ask anxiously. He gives a small smile and slowly nods his head.
“Yes, everything is okay… but not you, I think” he says softly. His voice carries worry as he gently holds my hand and starts walking beside me. I blink my eyes in confusion not fully understanding what he means.
“Why you are not leaving him?” he asks. My steps slowly come to a halt. I stop walking. He notices and turns his head toward me, his eyes searching my face carefully.
“Baba… I’m s...sorry. I can’t” I say quietly. The moment the words leave my lips, I see fear slowly appearing in his eyes.
“Sita, he will ruin your entire life. He is a criminal. He is not the one for you. Yesterday he saved himself but that will not happen in the future” he says with deep worry.
I don’t mind his words. He is my father. Worrying for his daughter is his right. Especially when he clearly knows… or I can say he is clearly fed up with everything related to him.
“Baba, if he is a criminal, then the people who run the country while wearing the mask of goodness are not any less. The government cannot directly hang a person without following legal procedures but yesterday everyone, from the Supreme Court to the officers, did exactly that. No one questioned them about why they were not following the rules but everyone is questioning him” I say calmly, looking straight at him.
His eyes widen in shock. His grip on my hand slowly loosens until he completely lets go of it. It is the truth… and no one can change it.
“You are defending him, Sita. What has he done to you? What lies has he fed you?” he asks in utter shock. I gulp slowly, feeling the heaviness of his words.
“Baba, you also didn’t come to court yesterday because you knew that the court and your other officers were not working in a legal way” I say softly, looking straight into his eyes.
He immediately looks away from me, his jaw tightening slightly. Maa told me yesterday why he didn’t come to court.
“Baba, I am not saying that he is right but the people who are punishing him are not any less than him” I say quietly. He lets out a deep sigh and slowly nods his head, silently accepting my words.
“Okay… I believe your every word and I agree” he says after a moment. Then his voice becomes serious again. “But he is not good for you as a husband” A small smile slowly appears on my lips.
I can’t explain why… but I don’t want to leave him. Not after what he said to me yesterday.
“I promise… the moment I feel that he is doing something wrong with me, I will leave him” I say sincerely. Before he can say anything else, I quickly interrupt him.
“I am very hungry, take me somewhere to eat” I say while holding his bicep and start dragging him along with me. He chuckles softly under his breath and begins walking with me.
My eyes remain fixed on the screen as the live news plays on my iPad. The glow of the screen reflects faintly in my eyes as the reporter’s voice fills the silence around me.
“The entire nation has been shaken after shocking revelations in the Zayran Kaalver case.
Moments after the truth comes out in court, it becomes clear that while the crimes mentioned in the file are real, they are not committed by Zayran Kaalver.
The documents instead expose a massive criminal network involving many powerful figures.
In a dramatic turn of events, police forces across the country begin large-scale arrests.
Not just one or two but several mafia leaders, influential politicians and even high-ranking officers are taken into custody.
Authorities confirm that many of them are directly involved in illegal trafficking, organized crimes and numerous underground operations.
Sources say the file that surfaces in court contains detailed records of secret locations, financial transactions and criminal activities linked to these individuals.
As investigators continue to examine the documents, more evidence reportedly emerges against several senior officials.
The nation now watches as this massive investigation unfolds.
Police officials state that more arrests are expected in the coming days.
What started as a case against one man has now turned into one of the biggest criminal exposures the country has ever seen. One revelation in the courtroom has turned the entire nation....”
I stop the news before the reporter can finish speaking and shake my head slowly, staring at the paused screen.
Why do people even do these crimes? They should learn from me how to be a true citizen. Look at me… I literally helped the government catch all of them.
They should give me an award for sanitizing the country. But they will not give me any award. Because they simply cannot afford it.
“Boss” Grover’s voice comes. I slowly lift my eyes and look outside the car window. One of the guards immediately opens the door for me. I step out of the car.
Several trucks are standing outside and people are loading things inside them in a hurry. Boxes, furniture, bags… everything.
So, the Commissioner is trying to run away from me. Nice.
I walk toward the house and step inside without any hurry.
The moment I enter, chaos greets me. His family members are running here and there, their faces filled with panic and stress.
Some are whispering, some are crying softly and some are desperately trying to gather their belongings, as if they can somehow escape from me.
“Commissioner!” Grover calls loudly. His voice echoes in the house and the entire living room falls silent.
A few seconds later, Commissioner runs down the stairs in a hurry… but the moment his eyes land on me, he freezes in shock.
I walk inside and sit down on the couch like I own the place. Taking out my cigarette, I light it slowly, the flame briefly reflecting in my eyes.
“Why… why are you here?” he asks slowly. The fear in his voice is clear.
I take a long puff from my cigarette and slowly lift my gaze toward him. Leaning back into the couch, I place my legs lazily on the table in front of me.
“My wife asked me something yesterday” I say in a calm, almost casual tone. “She asked me why I am bearing all this… why I am not trying to save myself” I take another slow puff of my cigarette and exhale the smoke into the air, my eyes still fixed on him.
“And when I asked her ‘Does she want me to save myself from people like you?’ You know what she said?” Commissioner looks completely terrified, his face pale. But the thing that confuses him the most is my soft voice.
“She said yes” I shake my head slowly. “Main kisi ke saath kuch galat nahi kar raha hoon. Bas biwi ne kaha hai khud ka khayal rakho… to rakh Raha hun”
(I am not doing anything wrong to anyone. My wife simply told me to take care of myself… so that’s exactly what I am doing)
“Y....you can’t do anything. Don’t even think that you can enter my house, do something and leave easily ” he says, trying to sound brave.
“Commissioner… Commissioner… Commissioner…” I repeat slowly in a calm tone as I rise from the couch and begin walking toward him.
The moment I move closer, he takes a step back. Sweat starts forming on his forehead, slowly sliding down the side of his face.
“I didn’t do anything to you before because my sasur ji was involved with you” I say casually while stopping right in front of him. “But now my sasur ji is not with you anymore… so…”
I move my hand in the air, acting as if I press a switch and whisper. “Boom”
I start slowly walking around the Commissioner, circling him like a predator studying his prey.
“What punishment should I give him, Grover?” I ask calmly, taking another puff of my cigarette before throwing it carelessly on the ground and crushing it under my shoe.
“Boss, correction… not punishment” Grover says from behind me. “You are just protecting yourself from these kinds of monsters”
I blink my eyes once and slowly nod my head. He is right.
“Should I tell your wife about your extra-marital affair?” I say calmly.
A loud gasp echoes from behind us. The Commissioner’s eyes widen in pure horror. He looks at me with a face that clearly begs, please leave me.
“Or should I leak the video where you harass your junior lady officers at work?” I continue in the same calm voice.
Grover immediately plays the video on his tablet and turns the screen toward him. The clip clearly shows the Commissioner harassing the female officers in his office. The Commissioner’s breathing becomes heavier.
“Or should I give the government the records of all your bribes?” I ask, staring directly at his face. His head slowly lowers down, unable to meet my eyes anymore.
“We have more options for you, Commissioner. Tell me if you want another one” I say and turn around to leave.
But suddenly he pulls out his gun and fires toward me. Before the bullet can touch me, I quickly dodge it. My guards instantly become alert. Within seconds they pull out their guns and point them toward everyone in the room, ready to fill every single body here with bullets if needed.
Before the Commissioner can fire another shot, I step forward, raise my hand, make a tight fist and punch him hard on his face. The force of the punch makes him stumble backward and fall on the ground.
“The bullet didn’t hit me because my feather has tied this thread around my wrist” I murmur, looking at the thread around my wrist. She really cares for me a lot. I can see that.
A faint thought crosses my mind. These days she looks different… and she is acting different too.
“Boss” Grover’s voice suddenly breaks my thoughts.
I blink once and realize that I am standing in the middle of ruining the Commissioner’s entire bloodline. Uff… she is distracting me.
“Commissioner, I think you choose everything” I say and give Grover a signal.
“L–leave me… please. I beg you” he says desperately, resting his head against my shoe. I simply walk away from him without even looking down.
“Commissioner, jab aukat kutte ki ho na to sher ki tarah dahada nahi karte” My voice is deep and completely blank.
(Commissioner, when your status is like a dog’s, you shouldn’t roar like a lion)
“I already called the police! They’ll see who you really are!” his son(Neil) suddenly shouts in a high-pitched voice. The loud sound makes me close my eyes slowly. I don’t like loud voices.
“I have never seen a person more stupid than your son, Commissioner” I say coldly and shift my gaze toward his son.
“As much as I remember, you want to travel the entire world, right?” I ask calmly.
He looks at me as if he can make my life hell. But he can’t. My life is already hell… and I am the king of my hell.
“I don’t do human trafficking” I say slowly. “But just to fulfill your wish, I will start human trafficking from now on” I fold my arms over my chest and look at him.
“You will travel the entire world now… and that too for free. You won’t need any money and you won’t need any woman who can pay for your trip either… because it’s on me”
“Grover, send this gentleman on a world tour” I say casually. “And start from North Korea”
My guards immediately grab his son and start dragging him out of the house. He begins shouting loudly while trying to free himself. The Commissioner and his family start begging desperately.
Their voices echo through the house. But instead of affecting me, they only irritate me.
“Boss, news channels and the police are coming to arrest the Commissioner. His deeds are all over the internet” Grover says from behind me.
A slow smile appears on my lips.
“Commissioner, enjoy your life, man” I say and turn around to walk outside. But suddenly, loud gunshots echo from behind me.
I don’t need to turn around… but marne wale ko akhri baar dekh lena chahiye.
(One should see a dying person one last time)
I turn my head. He is lying on the ground… lifeless… with bullets in his head.
These people are very weak. They did so much to me. They planned everything to hang me to death. I was almost about to be hanged. But I didn’t say anything to anyone. And when I just leaked a little information about him… he took his own life.
I let out a slow breath and walk out of the house. Behind me, the loud crying and mourning of his family fills the air. Their loud curses for me echo through the entire house.
I sit inside my car while Grover starts the engine. Through the window, I can see media vans and reporters rushing toward the house. Cameras, microphones… everyone is running to capture the news.
The car slowly moves forward, leaving the chaos behind.
“Boss… madam lost her job again” Grover says with a sad face. I open my eyes slightly and glance at him.
These days he shows too many expressions when it comes to his madam. Day by day he is becoming madam ka chamcha.
“I am the one who did this” I say quietly and close my eyes again. For a moment I can feel his gaze on me.
I did it for her good… trust me.
“Duniya khatam ho jayegi par tum logon ke kaand khatam nahi honge!” Sita shouts angrily at Yuv and Om while collecting the papers coming out of the printer one after another. Her fingers move quickly as she arranges the papers into neat stacks.
(The world might end but your stupid acts will never end!)
“Bhabhi, ab aap to mat chillaao” Yuv says while pouting like a child.
(Sister-in-law, at least you don’t shout at us)
Before he can say anything else, Tara throws a small paper ball at his head. “Sahi hai, chillaao mat… ise maaro” Tara says irritably while arranging the printed papers inside a file.
(That’s right. Don’t shout at him… just hit him)
All of them are sitting in the garden, surrounded by scattered papers, laptops and files. They are helping Shaurya, Om and Yuv prepare their project files which they have to submit tomorrow.
“But where did our file go all of a sudden?” Shaurya asks while typing furiously on his laptop, his fingers moving quickly over the keyboard.
“And not only that, someone even deleted the file from our laptops....” Om starts speaking. But his voice suddenly dies in the middle of the sentence. His eyes widen slightly as he realizes something.
At the same time, the other two men also realize the same thing. All three of them slowly turn their heads and look at Sita, who is fully focused on printing the papers.
“Aap ke pati kahan hai?” they ask together.
(Where is your husband?)
Their question makes Sita’s heart race suddenly… because of the way they say it. Not bhai. But your husband.
“Mujhe bata kar nahi jaate hai wo” she says slowly.
(He doesn’t tell me before leaving)
She says it quietly because she hasn’t seen him since the morning and now it is already night.
“Oh, to sir ka kaan pakad kar kaho na ki mujhe bataye bina kahin gaye to peet dungi” Tara says with a teasing smile, raising her eyebrows playfully.
(Oh, then hold his ears and tell him that if he goes anywhere without informing you, you will beat him)
“Tara, sitara ki bacchi, mazak ka time nahi hai” Yuv says with an annoyed expression.
(Tara, this is not the time to joke)
Tara immediately glares at him. “Phad kar rakh dungi teeno ki file main” she says while glaring at the three of them.
(I will tear all three of your project files apart)
“All of you be quiet and focus on work. It’s already nine and now I’m getting hungry too” Shaurya says while typing even faster on his laptop.
Sita quietly lifts her eyes and looks toward the mansion gate.
She is waiting for her husband. Her day was not good.
After meeting her father it becomes a little better but now she is feeling low again.
Somewhere deep inside her heart, she knows the reason.
She hasn’t seen him since morning… and that is why.
“Bhabhi, you are doing such good work. Join our company” Om says suddenly. Sita’s eyes widen instantly with excitement.
“Tum log mujhe apni company mein job doge?” she asks, her voice full of surprise.
(You all will give me a job in your company?)
All three of them nod their heads together.
“Thank you so much! You all are the best!” she says happily. Then suddenly she pauses and looks confused.
“Wait… but what will I do? I don’t know anything” she says honestly. The three of them smile at her.
“You don’t worry about that. We will confirm your job but you will have to do a small favor for us” Shaurya says calmly.
Sita nods her head without thinking much.
“Okay, main karungi tum sab ki madad” Sita says innocently. She has no idea what they are going to make her do.
“Hey, gareeb people, what are you all doing?” Ishi asks while looking at the five of them with a clear eww expression on her face. She has just returned from shopping.
“Kab se shopping ke liye gayi thi tu” Om asks, raising an eyebrow.
Ishi casually sits down on a chair and places her bag on the table. All of them stare at her, silently waiting for her answer.
“Bhai gave me his black card” she says proudly.
The moment those words leave her mouth, the three brothers understand everything. They immediately glare at Ishi.
Sita, however, looks confused by their reactions.
Yesterday, Zayran asked all of them why his wife was sad and if someone had told her something about him. They all said they didn’t know anything.
But Zayran’s black card has its own black magic power. The moment he gave it to Ishi, she told him everything, why bhabhi was sad and exactly what Om had said to her. And that was enough. Now their project file is gone.
poor Laksh is suffering because Ishi is not talking to him after her brother’s warning and overall… all of them are suffering. All because his wife was sad.
Meanwhile, Zayran steps out of his car and begins walking toward the mansion.
But a voice suddenly stops him. Actually… the voice stops Grover. But that voice has enough power to stop him as well.
“Come here, Grover!” Sita calls the moment she notices him.
Grover doesn’t think twice. He immediately starts walking toward his madam… or maybe his baby. Zayran stands there silently, watching the scene in front of him.
His siblings are clearly suffering…and she is sitting there, helping them. His eyes remain fixed on her. Before he even realizes it, his feet begin moving on their own and he starts walking toward her.
He stops a few steps away. Everyone looks at him. Except her. She keeps her head lowered, focusing on the papers in her hands. Her fingers tremble slightly as she arranges them. Because of the weight of his gaze.
“Bhai, bhabhi ko bhook lagi hai” Yuv suddenly says. Sita’s head shoots up instantly.
(Brother, sister-in-law is hungry)
“Mujhe nahi lagi hai bhook” Sita says quickly and looks away.
(I am not hungry)
She avoids looking at him. Because she feels too shyyyyyyyy. The moment she realizes that she has feelings for him, many things change. Now whenever he is around… she feels too many things all at once.
“Bhai, aap bhabhi ko bata kar bahar jaya karo. Woh aapke liye hairan hoti hain” Shaurya says, his tone teasing.
(Brother, you should inform sister-in-law before going out. She gets worried for you)
Sita’s eyes widen instantly and she turns her head sharply toward him. She stares at him with clear “I didn’t expect this from you” eyes.
Then she shakes her head hard, silently scolding him. Around them, everyone is watching the scene with interest. Their gazes move between the two, how Zayran’s dark eyes are fixed only on Sita and how Sita suddenly starts acting nervous under his gaze.
“Aap nahi hoti hai?” he asks calmly, his voice low yet direct, his eyes still locked on her face.
(You don’t get worried?)
“Omggggggggg!” all of them suddenly shout at the top of their lungs, as if the British have just returned the Kohinoor to them.
Sita’s eyes widen even more in shock. Her cheeks warm slightly and she quickly lowers her gaze to the ground.
Her heart starts beating fast in her chest, loud enough for her to hear it herself.
Still, she forces her face to stay normal, trying her best not to let him realize that she actually has feelings for him.
“Agar inhe pata chal gaya mere dil mein inke liye feelings hain, to khud ko Captain America samajhne lagenge” she thinks and quickly shakes her head.
(If he finds out that I have feelings for him, he’ll start thinking of himself as Captain America)
Zayran simply looks at her without blinking. For him, at this moment, everyone else becomes invisible. The noise, the teasing, the people, none of it matters. His entire attention stays on the girl standing in front of him.
“GG, apne boss se sikho romance kaise karte hain” Yuv says dramatically, grinning widely.
(GG, learn from your boss how to do romance)
Tara’s eyes widen in embarrassment the moment she hears that. Before anyone can tease her or pull her leg, she quickly stands up from her seat.
“I have work. I’m going” she says quickly, her voice slightly shaky. Without looking at anyone, she almost runs toward her room.
Grover watches her retreating figure with a sad expression on his face. His shoulders drop slightly and then he slowly turns his head and glares sharply at Yuv.
“I’m feeling like stealing a file again” he says slowly to the three of them, his tone dangerously calm.
The moment the words leave his mouth, all three glare at him sharply, their expressions filled with warning and disbelief. Grover only smirks in response, clearly enjoying their reaction.
Just then, Sita’s phone rings. She looks at the screen and immediately stands up from her place as she sees her father’s call. Holding the phone to her ear, she quietly walks inside the mansion while talking.
Zayran’s eyes do not leave her face even for a second as she walks away.
His sharp gaze follows her every step. From the way her shoulders tense and the slight change in her expression, he can clearly see that the moment the call comes, something inside her becomes upset.
How was the chapter???
I had written Sita’s past… well not exactly her past but something like that. I started writing this scene at 1 AM and I have already completed the whole scene where she tells Zayran everything.
But now I feel like I can write it better. It feels like I’m missing something in it. So I’ll rewrite?? the entire scene again and post it in the next chapter.
Thanks for waiting patiently
