Chapter 93
Speculation is rife today, as solicitors acting for the late billionaire Logan Quick are preparing to read his last will and testament at their offices in Exeter.
Reclusive businessman Quick, who had been suffering from terminal cancer, died last month in a helicopter crash off the coast of Cornwall. He was alone on board.
Weeks before his death, in a move that made headlines around the world, Quick announced that he was leaving the bulk of his fortune to seven people from the southwest, all of whom had been sent what was described as a token.
Shortly afterwards, the seven were named as Trevor Winter, fifty-five, a retired seaman; Tara Webb, fifty-five, a former nurse; wedding planner Robin Knight, fifty-two; Craig Lewis, fifty-four, a retired fireman; ambulance driver Sabri Carter, fifty-four; Cheryl Young, fifty-one, a carer, and personal injury barrister Holly Baker, thirty.
All seven token recipients have denied any previous relationship with Logan Quick.
The cause of Logan Quick’s helicopter crash remains a mystery.
While Quick’s body was quickly recovered from the sea, it is believed the wreckage is unlikely ever to be found.
As conditions on the day were more than suitable for the short flight, most commentators have assumed either pilot error (most likely, given Mr Quick’s state of health) or mechanical failure.
Amanda Quick, Logan Quick’s ex-wife and his two children, Ludo and Coco, are not expected to attend today’s reading.
A source, who asked not to be named, informed the Telegraph that Quick previously set up trust funds for his children along with similar funds for several valued staff members, and that they are not will beneficiaries.
In spite of six of the recipients insisting that the tokens were voluntarily returned to Mr Quick and that they no longer consider themselves beneficiaries, all are expected to attend the offices of Barker, Momen and Dodds today.
The whereabouts of the seventh, Craig Lewis, are presently unknown and all attempts by the Telegraph to trace him have failed.
The reading will take place at 11 a.m.
