Chapter 24 The Next Morning
Sunlight slipped through the curtains and touched my eyes. I opened them slowly and realized it was already the next day.
"Awake?"
I looked up. Song Chengyuan smiled at me, his eyes warm in the morning light.
He chuckled, leaned down, and kissed me.
I came to my senses and gave him a light pat. "I have not brushed my teeth yet."
The words surprised even me. I had not thought I would act spoiled.
Song Chengyuan smiled. "All right, we will listen to Xuxu. Rest a little longer. I will make breakfast."
He had given Aunt Wang a few days off, so he had to cook himself.
I nodded obediently and burrowed back under the covers.
Since I could not fall asleep again, I picked up my phone.
An email appeared on the screen.
I held my breath for a few seconds, then opened it.
It was an offer from a well-known foreign university.
I had started preparing the application after moving in with Song Chengyuan. Now the effort had paid off.
Without Xu Yunru watching me, everything I had planned was going smoothly.
The only thing that had not gone according to plan was Song Chengyuan.
I no longer knew whether I was still acting or not.
My hand tightened around the phone until it hurt, yet the pain did not clear my mind.
