Chapter Fifty-Four
Isleep in till noon and wake up naked. I lift my head, feeling a headache coming on. When I sit up I feel a pain in my midsection from the tackle last night. I groan and cuddle the pillow but my rest is interrupted when Axe walks into the room.
“How are you feeling?” he asks.
“Hm,” I hum since I don't want to talk.
“Do you remember last night?” He crosses his arms over his chest.
“I got into a fight,” I mumble.
“Is that it?”
“What else is there?” I sit up against the headboard.
“Do you remember the amazing sex we had or me forcing the morning after pill down your throat?” Axe raises his eyebrow.
“Oh, right. I remember you shaking me like crazy to wake up and have the pill.” I try to run my fingers through my hair but it's a knotty mess.
“Well, with the way you were riding me, I couldn't stop myself from coming inside you.”
“Enough of the sex talk. Are you giving me a lecture or not?” I ask.
“No, I want to know what happened.” Axe sits down at the end of the bed.
“Ugh, Jenna was drunk and she kept coming at me saying it's my fault that Joel's locked up.”
“Elora. It's his fault. He challenged me. No alpha alive would have locked him up. They all would have killed him,” he tells me. “The only reason I didn't kill him is because he was your mate. Now if that bitch says anything again tell her to come to me if she has something to say.”
“Okay.” I rest my head against the headboard.
This is officially the first day of my adult life. I'm leaving the dramas of teen-hood behind. I'm not going to be an active luna. I'll be support for Axe, but I'm deciding right now that I'm leaving myself out of all pack business.
“Well, I'll let you nurse your hangover. Do you need anything? Are you in pain from the fight?” Axe stands.
“I'll just have some pain pills and food and I'll be fine,” I say.
“Okay, I'm going to see Dash.” He turns towards the door but looks back. “By the way, I definitely want you to ride me like that again.” He winks and closes the door while my cheeks blush. I don't know if I'll have the confidence to take control and ride him so fiercely again like I did last night.

I'm awoken from my sleep by a knock at the door. I groan but pull my heavy body from the bed and dawdle down the stairs half asleep. I open the door and see Jayceon standing there.
“What?” I ask, leaving the door open and heading to the kitchen to get some water.
“Is Axe here?” Jayceon asks, following me.
“He would have answered the door if he was,” I say, sitting at the counter.
“I don't appreciate the attitude. You deserve the hangover,” Jayceon states.
“What?” I frown.
“Elora, my brother told me what happened last night. A luna doesn't act like that,” Jayceon informs me.
“She started it.”
“Yes, but even so, as a leader you have to be the bigger person and take care of it in a mature way.
Elora, you were too young to really know how violent Axe was towards pack members.
You're the righteousness this pack needs.
Don't let people discourage you,” Jayceon speaks wisely.
I just nod at his words. “Tell Axe I stopped by.”
I stay in the kitchen, picking at the grapes in the fruit bowl and eating them. It's not long before Axe and Dash get here and walk into the kitchen.
“Hey, my little fighter,” Axe says with humour in his tone. I roll my eyes.
His teasing words would have been fine before my talk with Jayceon. But now after Jayceon's words, I'm realising there is pressure on me as the luna whether I like it or not.
“Jayceon stopped by. He didn't say what he wanted,” I tell him.
“I guess I'll go see him then.” Axe leaves while Dash joins me at the counter.
“Am I getting a lecture from you too?” I remark.
“No, why? Is Axe giving you a hard time?” Dash asks.
“Jayceon did.”
“Jayceon is a stiff, stubborn man set in his ways. Don't worry about it,” Dash says.
“Do you think it's bad of me to get into a fight?”
“No, I think it's funny.” Dash chuckles.
“Why?”
“You were at a high school party with alcohol. Fights are going to break out. No one cares.”
Who do I listen to? Jayceon, his brother and everyone expect me to be the luna. But Axe and Dash think I'm doing fine. They're the leaders. Their opinions matter more to me. So everyone else can get over it.
“I have heard some gossip, though.” Dash smirks.
“Ugh what?”
“You're a pretty unhinged fighter. You have more in common with Axe than I thought.”
“Thanks.” I drop my head in my hands, just wanting to go back to sleep.
“Elora, I don't mean that's a bad thing. I'm just saying you could train with Brian if you want to learn more defence instead of brute attack.”
“I'll think about it.”
I head upstairs and try to go back to sleep but I can't so I call Amelia and check if she's okay. Her sugar daddy picked her up when the party finished up. After I get off the phone with Amelia, I call Carson.
Carson laughs after I tell her about last night. “Damn, girl. You're a great match for my brother.”
“Thanks.” I chuckle. “Dash wants me to train with Brian.”
“That's not going to happen.” She laughs. “Axel hated that I trained with him. He's not going to let you train with him.”
“Anyway, how's the pregnancy?” I ask.
“I'm getting fat,” she says sulkily.
“No you're not, baby.” I hear Timothy's voice in the background.
“I'm sure you look great.” I chuckle. “You're not even that far along.”
“That's why I'm sad. I'm only a couple months and I can't stop eating,” Carson complains, making me laugh. “I want you and Axe to visit when I have the baby. I will be lonely.”
“We will. Don't you have friends there?” I ask.
“Yeah, but they're still in their party phase. I'm the first one out of the group to get pregnant.”
“Aww, well they'll probably be very attentive when you get married. Is that happening soon?”
“Actually... I'm already married. No one knows. I didn't want any bullshit at my wedding so Timothy and I eloped last year on vacation,” Carson reveals.
“Oh, wow. Do you wear a ring?” I try to remember back to when I saw her if she was wearing a ring.
“Yeah, but everyone believes it's a promise ring so that works out good.”
“As long as you're happy.”
“I am.” I can hear the smile in her voice.
“I feel confident enough to say me too.”
