Chapter 26 #2

I froze in my spot. Manus pushed me into the seat and headed to one of the Witches, dragging her directly to the dance floor. I started to say something to him as he left me sitting next to Jordan but my words were lost in the loud music.

The others left for the dance floor. All the others. They peeled off in pairs as if choreographed. I was left sitting next to Jordan at the big table. “I think we’ve been set up,” he leaned in to yell over the music. I managed to close my mouth. “Would you like a drink?” he asked. I nodded my head.

He came back with two bottles of beer, no glasses. “Beer okay? I should have asked.”

Beer was perfect. “Fine.” I took a really long drink, maybe half the bottle. He huffed out a small laugh.

I watched Manus and the others dance. Manus was a master on the floor, dancing with two of the Witches at once and managing to pay them equal attention. His catlike movements were smooth and alluring. He had both the women enthralled.

“Dance?” Jordan asked. He had to lean in close again to be heard. His breath tickled my ear. My desire shot into overdrive. I shook my head no, too fast, too hard. “You don’t dance? Not at all?”

“Always had two left feet.” I also had to yell to be heard. He shook his head because he couldn’t hear. I couldn’t bring myself to get any closer. I huffed and gave up and cast the spell for the privacy bubble around us. The noise from the bar faded away. He looked around at it and smiled.

“I have two left feet. I was never a good dancer.” My voice was almost normal again.

“You’ve changed since then. I saw you spar today.

” The look he gave me was primal. “Now that you aren’t stuck in the human world, a world out of sorts for you, you move like a dream.

” His face still held the edge of the professional security man, but his eyes danced with that dark yearning that men get when they think they have a sure thing.

Even with that arrogance in his eyes, I was at a loss for words.

I blinked and tried to ignore the wetness growing between my legs.

I wasn’t sure I wanted to be so close to his powerful shoulders or the manly smell that came off him like heavy cologne.

It wasn’t cologne, it was just him—but it was working on my senses either way.

He looked off to the dance floor. “I spent over forty years trying to fit in with the human world. I used my powers as best I could to fight, but once I found the rest of the Kith…” He trailed off.

“How’d you find them?” The change of subject was a good thing. It gave me something else to think about. And with the privacy bubble, I could watch the dancers and listen to him without concentrating on the way his lips moved when he spoke.

“I was on a mission with the Navy and got shot up in some remote Indonesian hellhole. I got hit in the chest and fell into a muddy river. Another half Demon felt me using my telepathy to hide from the enemy, found me, and pulled me to safety. He did what he could to heal me then brought me here. I’ve never left. ”

“Ever?” My body had eased back just enough that I could at least carry on an adult conversation.

“I go out on missions. Some of them are longer than others, but I live here. I don’t have to hide who or what I am.” He turned and looked into my eyes. “You don’t either.”

I blushed again. His eyes were mesmerizing, all that silver so welcoming, so hot. He winked again. “Okay, Keena. Time to dance.” He held out a hand. I looked at it.

“I really can’t.” I felt the heat rising in me again at the thought of touching the big, strong hand before me. I wasn’t sure I could control my body if it got much closer to his.

“Trust me.” He took my hand off my beer and stood, pulling me to the floor.

Just enough room for us opened up. The music blared again after he’d stood and broken the bubble.

The current song had a beat that was slow and churning.

Jordan pulled me up against his body and wrapped one arm around my waist. He bent his knees enough that our hips met, one of his thick legs slipping between mine.

I put one hand on his chest and let the other fall to my side to match his free arm.

His hips started to sway with the music.

He was looking down, watching the way our bodies moved together.

His attention was completely on where our bodies met. I was watching his face in an attempt to lessen the effect his swaying hips were having on my senses.

I slowly let my gaze move down. He was wearing a black silk shirt tucked into tight black jeans. We were a melding of black on black, moving as one.

The heat started to rise in the club and in my mind. He moved us together so perfectly. I could feel his growing erection against my crotch and the tenseness of his thighs as he crouched low to fit his leg between mine. He pulled me tighter against him.

My head fell back at the feel of our bodies so connected.

I closed my eyes and let the sound of the bass thumping through the air move through me.

The rocking got more intense, sending my head swaying back and forth in time with his arousing movements.

His right hand covered the entire expanse of my back and was softly kneading my skin.

He put his free hand on my middle, fingers splayed across my stomach, and I felt his magic come through his touch.

It lit me up. My magic responded immediately.

I was wet and wanton, my pulse too strong.

I distantly realized several songs must have passed but I heard nothing, felt nothing but his touch…

I pushed against him to get some distance from his cock. My body was screaming to stay close, to take him. My mind was running scared in the night. I used both hands this time, trying to push away.

He leaned close and stopped dancing. “Keena, are you frightened of me?” I could easily see the distress etched on his jaw. “I didn’t mean to scare you.” He let me pull away from him and wrapped his arm around mine to lead me back to the table.

The coolness of the beer was not helping. The pounding thump of the bass vibrated through me. He was too close. I couldn’t fight the surging need that I was experiencing, the wetness in places that were screaming for his touch. All of it was out of my control.

“I’m really sorry, Keena. I feel your need.” He had leaned in close to my ear, touched my hand.

I couldn’t stand it anymore. I hopped from the high barstool and fought through the pressing crowd. The bodies all touching mine only inflamed the need.
