The Heir's Impossible Choice
Kael was ordered to prepare for war.
The council wanted him to leave the capital immediately.
But Kael knew the attack was connected to Elara's secret.
If he left, she would be vulnerable.

He found Elara in the palace gardens.
"I have to go."
She nodded.
"I know."
"I don't want to leave you."

Kael looked at her.

Elara smiled faintly.
"Then protect everyone."
Her words stayed with him as he prepared to leave.
Before dawn, Kael received a message from the queen.
She revealed that the enemy commander had once served the royal family.
His name was Darian.
He knew the palace.
He knew the royal defenses.
And he knew about the Moonborn bloodline.
Kael immediately understood.
