National Letter Writing Day
DECEMBER 7TH
Dear Ben,
It’s , so I thought I’d forgo a text for an actual letter. Writing a letter is surprisingly harder than texting. The act of putting pen to paper immediately becomes more intimate. More raw. It’s so easy to bypass emotions with texting, or pretend an emoji really signifies what we’re feeling. So, in this letter, I’m going to lay all my emotions on the line. I miss our usual texting banter. Your silence is so palpable, I can feel it pressing down on me until I can’t catch my breath. I can imagine it’s not unsimilar to what my silence felt like on Thanksgiving.
But, it’s okay. I asked for the chance to earn your trust, and I don’t deserve witty and flirty comebacks. Yet.
That’s why I’m courting you.
Yes, that’s what I’ve been doing all week, and I don’t plan to stop anytime soon. I let my insecurities and fears cast doubts for far too long, even when my heart had none. I pushed you away, yet you never gave up on me—on us. You wooed me all year. Now, it’s my turn.
Buckle up, baby. I’m about to court the fuck out of you.
Yours,
Lainey
