The birth was long and difficult, stretching from the first sharp contraction in the aftermath of battle to the deep, dark hours of the night when the world outside the den had gone quiet and still.
Scott felt the contraction ripple through him, his hand gripping Rukheim's. The den was dim, lit by oil lamps, and the air smelled of blood and pine. Mera knelt between his legs, her face calm.
"Breathe with me, Scott," she said. "Slow and deep. The child is ready."
Scott nodded, sweat dripping into his eyes. Fynn held his other hand, fingers laced tight. Norrix sat behind him, chest warm against his back, hands rubbing circles into his lower back. The battle had ended hours ago, but the smell of it still clung to all of them.
Another wave built, and Scott cried out. His body pushed on its own, the pressure enormous. Rukheim's thumb stroked his knuckles. "You're strong. Almost there."
"Push now," Mera said, her voice sharp. "One more."
Scott bore down with everything left, and the pressure broke. A thin, furious wail filled the den. Mera lifted the baby and checked her over. "A girl. Strong scent markers, clear lungs, perfect heart." She looked at Scott with a smile. "A prime omega, like you."
Mera placed the baby on Scott's chest. The small weight settled there, and Scott's breath caught.
Rukheim's hand tightened on his. Fynn made a broken sound.
Norrix pressed his forehead to Scott's temple, shaking.
The four of them stayed there, and the bond between them grew solid and quiet, no longer a survival tether but a living thing that needed no words.
Rukheim looked at the baby, and tears cut through the dirt on his face. He touched her tiny fist. "She's perfect."
"She's fierce," Norrix said, his voice rough. "A prime omega. She'll lead."
Fynn kissed the top of the baby's head. "What do we name her?"
Scott thought for a moment, looking at the small face scrunched in protest. "Ayla," he said. "It means moonlight."
"Ayla," Fynn repeated. "I love it."
Rukheim nodded. "Ayla. Welcome, little one."
Mera finished cleaning and wrapped the baby in a soft cloth. Scott held her against his chest, and the three alphas crowded close, each touching some part of her. The war outside was over, but here, the future had just begun.
Rukheim spoke quietly, his eyes on the baby.
"The shaman is dead. He fell when their line broke.
The rival alpha yielded. His pack withdraws beyond the northern river and will send tribute each full moon.
" He paused. "Hope is in the cells, warded and guarded.
She will face judgment after you've recovered. "
Scott nodded, too exhausted to speak. He looked at his daughter and felt the bond settle around them all like a second skin.

Two years later, the little girl chased fireflies across the evening grass. Her name was Ayla, and she had Scott's eyes and a laugh that carried across the clearing.
"That one is rose," Fynn said, pointing at the sky. "That one is gold."
Ayla repeated the words with a serious face. "Wose. Gold. Bwoo." A firefly landed on her wrist, and she shrieked with delight.
"Again!" she demanded, chasing it. "Firefly come back!"
Fynn laughed and followed. "They like the dark. They'll come back when the sun finishes going down."
"I'm patient," she declared, then sprinted toward another light.
Norrix, in wolf form, nudged a leather ball across the yard. Ayla abandoned the fireflies and ran toward him. "Papa No'ix chase me!"
The gray wolf loped after her slowly, letting her stay ahead. Her laughter pealed through the dusk. Norrix caught the back of her shirt gently and swung her up, and she shrieked with joy.
Rukheim sat on the porch steps, watching with a quiet smile. Scott leaned against the railing, one hand resting on the small swell of his belly. Four months pregnant with their second child.
"She's going to be a handful," Scott said.
"She already is," Rukheim answered. "She gets it from all four of us."
Troy arrived as the last light faded. He scooped Ayla up and settled her on his hip. "Uncle sleepover," he announced. "Stories, extra honey cakes, and no shifting indoors this time. We remember the lamp."
Scott kissed Ayla's forehead and Troy's cheek. The alphas each kissed her. Ayla pointed at each of them in turn. "Papa Ruk kiss. Papa No'ix kiss. Papa Fynn kiss." Then she looked at Scott. "Dad kiss too."
Scott kissed her forehead. "Be good for Uncle Troy."
"I'm always good," she said, and Troy snorted.
When they left, the clearing felt quiet. The fireflies were gone, and the first stars showed overhead.
That night, the four of them retreated to their nest. Scott settled in the center, his three alphas undressing and joining him with easy familiarity.
Fynn kissed him first, smiling. Norrix settled between Scott's thighs and opened him with careful tongue and fingers.
Rukheim fed his cock into Scott's mouth at a slow pace.
When Norrix pushed inside, the thrusts were deep and rolling, one hand splayed over Scott's belly.
Fynn's hand wrapped around Scott's cock and stroked in time.
"I love you," Fynn whispered. "All of you."
"Ours," Norrix growled softly. "Always ours."
"Chosen," Rukheim said. "Every day."
Scott came first, then they shifted positions. Rukheim took him next in slow strokes, while Fynn and Norrix kissed his skin. Fynn finished inside him, knotting him gently. They cleaned him and settled into the nest, Scott in the center, hands resting over the new life growing there.
Ayla's laughter still echoed in Scott's memory, and the future kicked gently inside him. He closed his eyes, surrounded by warmth.
