Chapter 11 The Moment That Changed Everything

Chapter 11

The Moment That Changed Everything

Aadhira stopped breathing for a second.

Rain fell softly around them while Arjun's forehead remained against hers, warm despite the cold night. His words still echoed painfully inside her chest.

I don't know how to love someone without destroying them first.

The confession felt too raw.

Too real.

This was not the cold billionaire the world feared.

This was just a man finally realizing he had broken the one person who truly loved him.

Aadhira slowly opened her eyes.

Arjun was already looking at her.

Not at her lips.

Not at her body.

At her.

Like he was trying to memorize every emotion crossing her face before she disappeared from his life completely.

And somehow... that terrified her.

Because after years of begging silently for his attention, he was finally giving it to her all at once.

Too late.

Dangerously late.

"You shouldn't say things like this now," she whispered weakly.

"Why?"

"Because I still love you."

The truth slipped out before she could stop it.

Arjun went completely still.

Aadhira immediately looked away, angry at herself now. "That's the worst part. Even after everything, I still-"

Her words broke off suddenly.

Because Arjun had lifted his hand toward her face again.

Slowly.

Carefully.

As if afraid she might disappear if he moved too fast.

His thumb brushed lightly beneath her eye where tears mixed with rainwater.

And God-

The tenderness in that touch nearly ruined her.

"You still love me," he repeated quietly.

Not arrogantly.

Not proudly.

Like the realization genuinely shook him.

Aadhira laughed bitterly through tears. "I hate that I do."

Something inside Arjun cracked completely at those words.

Because for the first time, he truly understood the depth of her love.

She wasn't staying because of his money.

Or his name.

Or fear.

She stayed because she genuinely loved him enough to endure loneliness beside him.

And he had almost lost that forever.

Arjun suddenly pulled her closer.

Not roughly.

Desperately.

Aadhira's hands instinctively pressed against his chest as warmth surrounded her instantly. She could feel his heartbeat beneath the damp black shirt.

Fast.

Unsteady.

Nothing about Arjun ever felt unsteady.

Until her.

"You should hate me," he murmured against her hair.

Aadhira closed her eyes painfully.

"I tried."

His arms tightened around her slightly at the answer.

For a few dangerous seconds, neither of them moved.

The rain.

The storm.

The mansion lights behind them.

Everything blurred into background noise.

There was only him.

Only her.

Only years of unspoken emotions collapsing between them.

Arjun slowly pulled back just enough to look at her again.

His gaze dropped briefly toward her lips.

Aadhira noticed immediately.

Her breath faltered.

No.

No, this was a terrible idea.

Because if he kissed her now-

After years of emotional starvation-

She would break completely.

"Arjun..." she whispered shakily.

But he was already too close.

His hand moved to the side of her neck gently, fingers sliding into her damp hair while his eyes searched hers one last time.

As if silently asking permission.

Aadhira should have stepped away.

She didn't.

That tiny moment of weakness destroyed both of them.

Arjun kissed her.

Softly at first.

Carefully.

Like a man touching something precious after nearly losing it forever.

Aadhira's breath caught instantly.

God.

It felt nothing like she imagined.

Not cold.

Not distant.

Not controlled.

It felt hungry.

Years of suppressed emotions crashing through one single touch.

The moment she responded slightly, something inside Arjun snapped completely.

His hand tightened at her waist as he kissed her deeper, rougher now, like he had finally stopped holding himself back.

Aadhira's fingers curled against his shirt automatically.

Her mind screamed at her to stop.

But her heart-

Her stupid heart melted the second he kissed her like she mattered.

Like she had always mattered.

Thunder echoed faintly above them while rain soaked through their clothes unnoticed.

Arjun kissed her like a man starving.

And maybe he was.

Because suddenly he understood something horrifying-

No business victory, no deal, no success had ever affected him like this woman standing in his arms.

Nothing had ever felt this necessary.

Aadhira finally pulled back first, breathing unevenly.

Both of them looked shaken.

Arjun rested his forehead against hers again, eyes dark with emotions he could no longer hide.

"Aadhira..."

The way he said her name now sounded ruined.

Completely ruined by her.

She swallowed hard, trying to steady herself. "This doesn't fix anything."

"I know."

"Then why did you kiss me?"

His eyes held hers for a long moment before he answered quietly-

"Because the thought of losing you is making me lose my mind."

And before she could even process those words-

A furious voice suddenly shattered the moment completely.

"Aadhira!"

Both of them turned instantly.

Savita Oberoi stood near the mansion entrance, staring at them in absolute shock and fury.

And beside her-

Was Naina.
