Chapter Eleven
Pope glared at Demon and snarled. “Get lost, idiot. If that moron with the Molotovs was your son, then you need some bail money to go downtown and pick him up. The cops took him hours ago.”
“You are a damn liar!” Demon shouted back. “We’ve been watching this place and there ain’t been no pigs up here all damn day.”
“Says you, the moron’s parent.” Pope scoffed. “Why did you come here in the first fucking place?”
Looking pissed, Demon paced back and forth as he replied, “Someone saw your group with my daughter and I want her back too.”
Pope laughed. “Well damn, old man... It isn’t our fault that you can’t keep track of your own kids. We haven’t seen your daughter and like I said the cops have your son. He’s up on attempted murder charges and arson.”
Demon now looked even angrier. “Two of my boys said they saw Daisy with you guys in the back parking lot of the bar in town. One of them followed you guys back here and she was still with your man.” Then he glared at the clubhouse while yelling, “Daisy, get your dumb ass out here right now! Where is your brother Digger at?”
Daisy remained right where she was. She knew she couldn’t go back to Demon’s house. Hell, all that was waiting for her there was a bullet. She looked up at Torin and saw him holding a finger over his lips and she gave him a nod. Then she silently lifted her middle finger and pointed it at the door.
Torin just grinned and gave her a nod of his head.
Pope stood there by the door and stared at the gathering of men on the other side of the gate. There were at least twenty men there, then five of them broke away and went to one of the trucks. They were digging around in the back of the truck and they all brought out blow torches.
One of them dug into his pocket, took out a lighter then he opened the torch and lit it. Flames shot out from it as he handed the lighter to the next man. That man did the same and so did the next one in line.
He started toward the wooded area set off from the road. The other four men followed the lead man.
Pope looked over his shoulder and found Torin and Hacksaw watching all of this. He stepped back into the clubhouse and slammed the door behind him. “Everybody get ready. All we can hope for now is that there’s enough water in the woods.”
Fox was already on his laptop with the cameras on and he had two monitors hooked up as well.
Pope came over to stand behind him searching the monitors for any movement in the woods.
The camera caught the five men who went in. The looks on their faces when they began slipping and sliding in the ankle-deep water was hysterical really.
Satan looked puzzled as he looked down into the water. Satan then aimed his torch up at the tops of the trees to see the flames fizzling out.
His men branched out then the first one slipped in the water and the soap. He fell flat on his ass. The next one followed and so on till they all no longer held torches as they had fizzled out in the mud.
The sight was almost like a Three Stooges episode and most of the guys who witnessed this were laughing.
Torin stood beside his dad and chuckled.
Outside, the comedy nightmare continued as Satan reached down and tried to help his man to his feet.
But then the both of them were slipping and sliding in the mixture of muddy soap.
Satan screamed and tried to get up again but the soap wouldn’t let him, he barely got to his feet when the soap made him slip again.
Again, he tried to get up and everyone saw the mud and soap bubbles in his hair and he was soaked to the skin.
Another one of his men tried to help him stand but they both went right back down.
When Satan finally got to his feet he was covered in mud and soap bubbles.
They saw him toss the blower down into the water with a splash and he stomped to the edge of the woods but before he could even get there he slipped again.
Now even his face was covered in mud and when he reached the last tree, he was screaming Demon’s name.
Demon just stood there, staring at the other man in shock. “What the hell?” he yelled.
Satan stomped over to him and tossed a handful of mud into Demon’s face. “They fucking soaked everything in those woods. We can’t set anything on fire.”
Demon swiped at what mud did hit him as he looked puzzled. “So why are you covered in soap?”
Satan glared at him. “Because they dumped soap into the standing water, you damn fool. It’s a fucking swamp in there.” He was breathing hard now and flinging mud everywhere as he raised his arms and went a little nuts as he again shouted at him, “You got any other brilliant ideas, Mr. Torch?”
Demon glared at him then looked over at his truck.
He then glanced at the gate and suddenly smiled.
“Yeah, I got another idea. Everybody get back, I’m gonna ram the gate.
” He rushed over to his truck and got behind the wheel.
Firing the engine up he revved it several times, when he put it into gear he rushed toward the gate.
Before he could even get close, four men that they never saw on the roof, stood up and aimed their rifles at the truck... shooting at the engine.
With a loud boom, the truck stopped just inches from the gate.
Demon was suddenly jerked forward and because he wasn’t wearing a seat belt his head hit the windshield hard enough to shatter the glass.
He looked up at the roof of the clubhouse and cursed at the men standing there as blood ran down his face from where his head shattered the windshield.
He jumped out of the truck and stomped his way to the gate to raise his clenched hand at the clubhouse.
“Give me my son and send out my daughter, you fuckers.”
Suddenly, the sound of a siren came from behind them.
Satan turned to stare at the red and blue lights coming up the driveway. He glared at Demon and growled. “You stupid mother fucker.” Then he looked around the group of his own men. “Everyone to their vehicle, I ain’t about to get jacked up here. I got warrants out.”
Everyone scrambled and soon the whole yard was in a dash to see who could get away. Only problem with that plan would be that there weren't just cops coming up the drive but Thumper and his deputies were coming as well.
A few of the men disappeared but Demon and his bunch as well as a few of Satan’s men didn’t.
Satan got onto his bike and turned toward the trees.
After a minute or two, everyone could then hear him screaming and yelling. They could also hear his bike engine whirring loudly as he tried to make his way through the wet soapy muck in the trees. Then they all heard a crash as his cycle slid into a tree and an explosion as his bike blew up.
Thumper shook his head and sent two of his deputies into the trees to drag the man out.
The men were gone for several minutes and when they came back out they were alone. They both went over to Thumper and shook their heads.
One of them reported, “We followed his path into the trees, which on a bike would have been dangerous. The floor of that forest is soaked completely and there are soap suds all over the place and it smells like Cheer laundry soap. We found the crash site but what we didn’t find was the rider.
We searched for a while but he’s not there. ”
Thumper looked into the trees then he turned his head and glared at Demon who’d been already packed up in the police van.
Demon just smirked at him through the glass of the window then he turned and spit in the aisle. The van pulled out and made its way slowly down the driveway.
Pope, Torin and Callum came out of the clubhouse to talk to Thumper.
Thumper looked at Pope and shook his head. “Well, we got Demon and two of his sons and most of Satan’s crew but Satan skedaddled after he crashed his bike.” He looked perplexed as he asked, “Look, I understand the water on the ground but what the hell was the soap all about?”
Pope chuckled “A friend suggested it... make it hard for them to get around and it might just save us from getting burned out. Who knew it would work so well? Did you see them boys? They were covered in muck and mud and every step they took ended up on their asses. Funnier than hell.”
Thumper nodded at Pope and Torin. “But what’s not funny is the fact that Satan is still out there and that man is crazy. He isn’t about to let this go. Watch your backs, boys.”
Pope nodded. “You watch your back too. And you tell Emmett to post extra men at the jail tonight. Satan might just try to bust Demon out. And he’ll definitely try to get his crew out.”
“Do you really have the goods on Demon with a connection to Demon and Satan?” Thumper asked.
Pope nodded then explained it, “Yeah we got that and a whole lot more. Demon’s own daughter handed it over to us, hoping we could get it to someone who wouldn’t just sweep it all under the rug.
That’s why we asked you and your boys to come here for it.
” He shook his head. “That ole Demon thinks the law doesn't apply to him and his spawn. He has used and abused that girl ever since she was ten years old when he took his wife out for a ride then came back alone, saying a gator got her. She is 24 years old and he’s basically kept her a prisoner in his own house as a servant for him and his three sons.”
Thumper looked puzzled. “Three sons? I only counted two boys with his last name.”
Pope snorted. “That’s cuz the oldest boy threw a grenade over the gate this morning hoping it would blow up our clubhouse, but because Daisy warned us about that very thing we had a sharpshooter on the roof and as he threw it over the gate our shooter hit it with a bullet and it went boom before he could get out of the backlash.
He was laid out. Then Demon and his boys scattered like cockroaches when you turn on a light.
He came back with Satan and his crew to burn us out. But you saw how that turned out.”
Thumper shook his head. “So where is the oldest son?”
Pope turned around and pointed at a tin building. “He’s in there. We had Patch check him over then we put him in there. Daisy said her dad would be back and sure enough, Demon came back.”
“And he came back with his new business partner, Satan.” Callum growled. “We have evidence that Demon is setting up a new drug business and he’s using Satan to distribute the new designer drug he’s going to start up.”
Thumper nodded. “We’d heard rumors about that. Seems Demon can’t keep things under cover long enough to even get started.”
Daisy stepped outside and nodded. “That’s because my father does his business in the public eye really. He thinks he can’t be touched. He’s got enough police, judges and lawyers on his payroll that no one in our town will touch him.”
Thumper nodded. “I hear ya.”
Daisy shook her head. “But you need to hear the whole story. The other night they were at the Warrior’s bar and they acted like they were at home.
They all drank and pissed off a lot of the others there and when the bartender called last call they were just going to get up and walk out without paying.
They do that at home too. Callum told them what their tab was and then dad had to step in and make them pay it.
But they came back and shot up the place.
Then they backtracked into the back alley and tried to shoot at anyone who worked there.
They did that because that’s just the way they are.
Lowlife bullies. Then they came here the next morning and my brother, Digger, was ready to kill everyone by tossing Molotovs, but I warned them about what he was going to do beforehand, so at least they were ready for what happened.
And please tell the cops who took them to jail, to be warned, my father and brothers are going to cause a riot after they get there.
They always claim that they will never go to jail and if anyone tries to keep them, they will bring hell down and they won’t be there long.
You have to tell them to be ready for anything.
My father and brothers won’t care who gets caught in the crossfire either.
That’s just the kind of miscreants they are. ”
