Chapter Thirteen Purity #4

When we made it inside, he sat in the chair waiting patiently for me to remove his shoes.

He hugged my legs as I placed both of our shoes in the designated cubby.

I paid for our entry and as soon as the doorway opened, he took off.

I couldn’t help but laugh. Seeing him this happy brought me nothing but joy.

This is what I work for. To be able to provide my child with his needs and his wants.

It’s a blessing to be able to afford to take him places that he can enjoy.

Being an autism mom is a lot of trial and error.

Before my child, I had never been around anyone with autism.

Well, none that I was aware of. He’s still very young, so it’s a continuous learning process for me.

As he gets older a lot of things would change for him.

That’s when I would learn to adjust to accommodate his needs.

At first, he had no problem going certain places.

Now, some places overstimulate him and it becomes too much.

I have to limit myself to doing a lot of pickup orders for groceries and household stuff because of that. I’m not complaining at all. My son’s needs will always outweigh mine.

The first thing he wanted to do was slide down the big slide.

I wanted to go up the stairs with him. He assured me that he was a big boy and could do it on his own.

He let my hand go and went on his own. Little moments like this, made me feel so good about the progress he makes.

Without so many people around, he was comfortable and in his own element.

He was running all over the place. Playing with every toy or play object that interested him. What I love about this place is that they serve food as well. He can have fun and also get a quick bite to eat before we head home.

I let him play until he tired himself out.

He grabbed my hand and pulled me in the direction of the small food court.

I guess he read my mind about eating. There weren’t many foods that my baby enjoyed.

For now, I try to stick to the safe foods in public to ensure that he eats.

When we’re home, I try to open him up to different foods.

I got him and I a hot dog tray. Just something quick to satisfy our bellies until we made it home.

We devoured it in no time and washed it down with a blueberry slushie.

By now baby boy was wiping his eyes like crazy.

He was getting sleepy. We did spend several hours at the playpark.

It was safe to say that he enjoyed his outing.

Jhene Aiko’s “Wait No More” played softly in the background as I slipped into the halter top jumpsuit that was cheetah printed.

Tonight, my outfit represented me stepping into an era of boldness.

My confidence was on a different level. It’s just something about a bad ass outfit that reminds me that I’m that bitch.

I felt sexy as hell, and the body was giving exactly what it was supposed to.

I did a complete beat on my face, natural but complete. The ombre red lip set the entire look off. My hair was bone straight due to the silk press that I got earlier in the week. What Kash Doll said, “My real hair is just as long as my weave”. Everything about me is natural. No enhancements at all.

The scent for tonight is Jean Paul Gautier. I smelled good as hell. This is one of those lasting scents, that leaves a trail behind you. I stepped in front of the body length mirror that rested in the corner of my bedroom. I stared back at my reflection.

“I for damn sure don’t look like the bitch that just caught her fiancé proposing to another bitch”, I said, and laughed to myself.

I’m sure Dom expected me to balled up in the fetal position still crying my eyes out.

That shit lasted for a little while. Then it was like something clicked in my head.

I remembered who I was. It ain’t a nigga on this planet that I don’t think I can have.

Not even on no cocky shit. I’m a beautiful woman, inside and out.

My head is on straight. I’m a catch. I know that just as well as Dom.

My phone dinged from my bathroom counter.

Tavian Carter: Hope I “might” see your ass tonight

Reading the text instantly put a smile on my face. Here I am dressed up, anticipating seeing this man. Something inside of me felt like tonight would be special. I will be seeing him in a different environment. In a different element. Though I know Trill is himself in any room he steps in.

Me: You just “might” Mr. Carter

Tavian Carter: Chill with all that Mr. Carter shit. I don’t want to hear that unless you plan to be the Mrs.

I don’t know what the hell I’m going to do with this man. I can already see he’s going to give me a run for my money. He already has me smiling at my phone all giddy and shit. I don’t know what this is but I’m loving the feeling.

I had to lock my phone because I would be standing in the bathroom texting him forever. I needed to get baby boy over to my parents and settled. I texted my girls to let them know I would be over in bout an hour and half. I was excited to see what the night would hold.
