Chapter Three
It was nearly dawn the next morning when Aisha’s eyes popped open at the soft click of the door.
At first, she didn’t know where she was and who had just come into the room.
Then she smelled the aftershave the intruder wore.
Moving ever so carefully she slid her hand over very carefully and grabbed the small scalpel she found earlier.
Their doctor had left it on the table near her bed when he cleaned up last night.
She didn’t trust anyone and she felt she needed something to protect herself.
When the man stepped closer, she took a deep breath and that’s when she smelled it.
Fresh blood. She knew right then and there whoever was in the room now, was part of the family that had come here to kill this MC.
She didn’t move for the longest time, hoping to know the man’s name before she killed him.
When the room brightened enough to where she could see movement she readied herself.
He was probably here to kill everyone inside the clubhouse, thinking he might find members of the rest of the family that had been taken against their will.
She then heard him gasp softly when he went over to the other bed.
She hadn’t seen the woman on the other bed but Ulysses had asked about her so she must be someone important.
She gently lowered the blanket and saw the man standing there with a big knife in his hand and she knew who he was just by identifying the knife. One of Bruno’s sons.
While he had his back turned, Aisha slowly lowered her blanket and glared at him. Then she looked at the man who had rescued her...Ulysses.
His eyes were open and he was looking straight at her without moving.
She slowly raised her finger to her lips for him to be quiet, then she slipped off the bed without making a sound. Then she stood and began to move quietly toward the intruder.
He just kept staring at the woman in the bed. Then his arm rose and with that the knife in his hand rose as well. He leaned down poised with the knife to stab the wounded woman in her sleep.
Aisha did the same. The blade in her hand struck first as she plunged it into his back.
The knife-wielder froze then he slumped over the edge of the bed. His blade clattered to the floor.
The woman in the bed suddenly awoke and screamed as she kicked at the man that half covered her.
Another man had jumped up from a chair next to her bed and saw the attacker with the scalpel sticking out of his back. He pulled the dead man off the wounded girl and gathered her into his arms.
Doors opened and slammed in the hall. Then the door to the room flew open and the one that led to the side room.
The doctor came and knelt to the dead man then he shook his head.
Ulysses grabbed Aisha and pulled her away from the bed. Gently wrapping his arm around her shoulder, he waited as the other men froze in place.
“What the hell is going on here?” A booming voice shattered the silence.
The doctor looked up from the dead man and snapped, “It seems you guys missed one and he just got in with murder on his mind.”
The older man next to the loud one at the doorway shook his head. “Who the hell is he and how the hell did he get inside?”
Aisha sighed hard. “He’s one of Bruno’s sons. As for how he got inside I don’t know, but he was staring at her and moving in for the kill.”
“And you stopped him?”
She glared at him and asked, “What the hell else was I supposed to do, let him cut her throat?” Suddenly, her knees gave out and she would have fallen to the floor but Ulysses tightened his grip on her. Swiftly, he swung her up into his arms and carried her back to her own bed.
“Bouncer,” the doctor looked over to the older man.
“It seems the man was wounded in the firefight but managed to crawl away before we went out there to find him. I don’t know how he got in here, but she’s right he had a blade in his hand and she stopped him.
” He moved the body and a blade was indeed under him.
The three men at the door looked up at her. Then the one with the booming voice said, “You killed one of your own brothers.”
Aisha raised her chin and was not apologetic. “I just did what I had to do, nothing more, nothing less.”
Lily looked over at her and whispered, “You just saved my life. I think you know who I am. So why?”
Aisha looked up at Lily and she nodded. “I found out a couple of years back that you made sure the servants at several Sanchez households had those nice clothes and shoes every year. Then every couple of months we got cases of chocolates and snacks, and we had to be careful none of the family knew.”
“H-how did you know though?” Lily asked. “I paid people to keep quiet about it. The leaders of the family aren’t kind.”
“No, they weren’t. There are only a few left now, so we can finally live free, Lily. God gave us life and we need to save anyone who is decent.”
Lily looked away. “I am not... a good person.”
“You chose to fight them and you saved my life,” Ulysses said.
was going to kill you on orders from a man that had no right to order your death.
Tomas was angry when he saw you and Canto alive and well when your family was laying under blankets on the grass.
They died foolishly for a cause that never meant a thing.
I was sitting in a tree hoping and praying he wouldn’t survive what was coming.
Then a shot rang out and I saw Tomas fall in a battle that if it played out I knew no one would win but he forced the battle and the rest of his family fell.
But for what? Being stupid? Probably. But they were in the wrong here, not your guys.
Your people were defending their home.” She looked down at the man on the floor.
“He was looking to end your life over a feud he had no right to bring here. I couldn’t let him win. ”
The room went silent as everyone heard her words. Then Lily asked her, “You know who I am right?”
Aisha nodded. “Yeah I know who you are, but I’ve been watching you a long time now.
You aren’t like the others. You never wanted to be like them.
I even watched you this morning when you got here with your father.
Yes, you did shoot at the building this morning but your bullets were high and wide.
You never aimed them where they might have actually done any damage. ”
Lily didn’t look up. “I didn’t think anyone noticed that,” she whispered.
Titus cocked his head as he looked at Bouncer then at Boomer.
“Well, I’ll be damned.” Bouncer finally shook his head. He looked at Aisha and asked, “What else did we miss this morning?”
“Tomas and his group were in the second car that made it through the gates,” Aisha told them.
“They waited in the woods for the first group to do their damage. Then Tomas watched as you brought in Lily and Canto. The more he watched how you treated them the angrier he became. I got inside the boundaries yesterday morning. I followed Eduardo in. I watched everything that happened.” She looked around the room.
“But I also heard everything Tomas told Bruno and his bunch too.”
Boomer stared at her and asked, “And just what did old Tomas tell them?”
Aisha swallowed hard then she told them in a low voice, “He called in his other sons. In fact, he called in his whole damn family and their men. He said the Sanchez family would come in strong and leave nothing but blood behind when they left.”
Lily looked stricken when she heard this.
