Chapter 35 – Kai

T his has been a rough night. Liam isn’t working because him and Lana have another production night. I’m pissed because Lana and I got into a huge fight.

And it was about shit that isn’t true, but of course, Lana doesn’t know me enough to know when I’m lying or telling the truth. She did tell me, that Liam fed her information and she didn’t know whether to believe it or not. But I don’t know what to do about it.

Especially after Tina ambushed me in my trailer, the other day. I don’t know what the fuck her problem is. My jaw is still sore from her punching me in the face.

I got here early, so I could mope around, and add more pieces to my costume again. These are the last two days of Midnight Mayhem and I plan on living it up with or without Lana.

My shift begins. Everyone else working tonight looks ultra scary. Just like me. We’ve progressively gotten more and more unhinged each weekend. And with this weekend, being the last weekend, we went all out.

The park is packed. More so than usual. Alyssa, our manager decided to double the amount of tickets being sold since it’s the last weekend. We’ve extended our hours to one a.m. as well.

That makes for a longer shift but well worth it, if I can just stay out of my head. I take a break at the two hour mark as usual. I thought I saw something, a shadow in Liam’s trailer or something.

I shake my head. It was nothing. I walk back inside my trailer. I take a little nap while waiting for my shift to resume. I wake up and head back out. Just a few more hours it’s no big deal.

Towards the end of the night I get an odd feeling. Almost like a warning of sorts. I am scaring the last few customers towards the entrance when I see someone run into the mirror maze.

It’s closing time. What the fuck? I follow the person inside. I hear the sinister laugh greet me. I start walking through the mirror maze cautiously. Not that whoever this is would hurt me but there could be more than one person hiding.

I get pushed up against a mirror. It’s Tina. “What the fuck?” She presses her lips against mine. I kiss back, not thinking. I push her back. “Ouch. I was hoping we could make up, Kai.” I growl. I spin her around and pin her up against the mirror this time.

“Make up? You punched me in the fucking jaw and threatened Lana.” I say. “Water under the bridge.” She pouts. I push away. “It’s closing time, get the fuck out.” I start to walk away.

“Now, Kai. Is that anyway to speak to someone who has a surprise for you?” My blood runs cold. I don’t like the way she said that. I race back to my trailer in record time.
