Chapter 36 – Lana

I run through the studio trying to find a phone. I need to call the police. I was going to call Midnight Mayhem but they don’t have a phone number. I need Kai. Regardless of how we feel about each other in this moment, I need him.

Liam is the piece of shit. Not Kai. I run behind the office desk. I sit there trying to catch my breath when I see a body laying next to me. I cover my mouth to keep from screaming. I scramble backwards.

I get on my hands and knees and peek to see who it is. It’s Miranda. I stifle another cry. Who would do this? And why? You need to focus. Get to a phone. I quickly peek around before getting up. The phone is on the desk.

I scramble to grab it. Tina pops up and slams the knife down on the desk severing the phone cord. “I don’t think so.” She pulls the knife out. I back myself into the wall. I don’t know which way to run. I don’t want to trip over Miranda’s body, so I go to my right.

I start sprinting. I don’t dare look back. I don’t want to know how close Tina is with that knife. I decide to try to find another phone. There’s no telling how far I’ll actually get on foot.

I’m running through the halls of the small production studio. Surely, there’s more than one phone. That couldn’t have been the only one. I haven’t had any luck yet. I abruptly stop in my tracks. Liam is waiting at the end of the hall.

“Looking for a phone? You’re not going to find one.” I turn around. Tina is waving the knife around. “You’ve got no where to go now, Lana.” I turn back to look at Liam.

He takes a couple steps towards me. I don’t have much time. I have to think quickly. I slowly walk towards Liam until I’m right in front of him. He grabs a piece of my hair. “Mmmm. I wanted you to make the right choice, Lana.”

I look up at him, trying to look as vulnerable as I can. “She’s incapable of making the ‘right’ choice.” Tina grits out. I turn back towards Tina. Liam tilts my chin with his hand, causing me to look at him.

“I didn’t want things to end this way, but you’ve forced my hand.” He leans his forehead on mine. My breathing picks up. He puts his finger on my lips. “Don’t scream.” I meet his gaze. He lowers his finger. He kisses me. It’s too gentle. It feels like goodbye.

I slip my tongue in his mouth. He moans. He lets go of my chin and tangles his hand in my hair tilting my head back a little to kiss me deeper. I feel the tears threaten to fall. There’s a possibility that they might kill me.

We make out for what feels like a few minutes. “Get on with it.” Tina almost screams. He pulls back. “You’ll get what you want. Don’t rush me.” He grabs my hair more forcefully. He reaches over to Tina and takes the knife from her.

I start to get nervous. “Shhhhh.” He glides the knife down the side of my neck. I close my eyes. He tilts my chin up with the tip of it. “I want you to look at me, Lana.” This sick bastard.

I open my eyes and my eyes start to water. There was so much I wanted to tell Kai. Now I may not get to. I blink and the first tear falls. “I can make this quick or I can take my time with you. Give you one last thing to think about before you die at our hands.”

He wipes the tear away with the tip of the knife, slicing a tiny cut into my cheek. I wince. Liam wipes the blood away with his thumb. I let out a shuddering breath. I know this is probably going to cost me.

I raise my knee up and hit Liam in the dick. He swipes at me with the knife. It catches my arm. I turn to run when Tina grabs ahold of my hair and slams me to the ground. My vision blurs. I gasp for air.

Tina straddles me. She grips my throat. “You’re going to pay for what you did, you bitch.” She picks me up by my throat and slams my head into the floor again. Liam wraps an arm around her waist and pulls her off of me. I start breathing in greedily.

My vision swims in and out. “You don’t get to kill her, Kai hasn’t shown up yet.” I touch the back of my head. It’s wet. I lift my hand to my face. There’s a decent amount of blood on my hand. Fuck.

I need to hold out. They said Kai is coming. I groan. I try to stand but fall back down. I start to see spots in my vision. “Fuck, Tina. At this rate she’s going to bleed out before I will get to do anything with her.” He picks me up. My arm falls over limply.

“Get the fucking first aid kit. Meet me in the auditorium.” He says, as he carries me. I groan. I’m going to pass out. “Stay with me, Lana. I’m not done with you.” I try to keep my eyes open. My vision blurs and blackens with each passing moment.

I barely register that he’s laid me on the auditorium stage. “Fuck, Lana, you’re pale. You can’t die on me, not yet.” He pleads. “TINA.” He yells. I swallow. You need to fight. Stay alive.

His presence is gone. I try to crawl. I don’t get very far. I collapse back onto the stage. I make one last attempt to stay conscious but I can’t fight it anymore.

My eyes shut, my breathing turns shallow. I’m not fully sure if I’m dead or not. All I know is that, Tina fucked me up.
