Chapter 27

DIANA

Kai fucks me into the pool table.

My chest bounces with every hard thrust he makes. My mouth falls open, my breath stuttering until I can barely remember why I was so angry.

“Take it out on me,” I gasp. “Fuck every thought out of our heads.”

With my back bent over, Kai’s pace grows rougher. All I can sense is his fingers fisting my hair and my pussy taking him in so deep every time he thrusts in and out. All of my defenses fall, reducing me into nothing but an outlet for his rage and desire.

“Oh my god,” I gasp.

The pool table wobbles against my chest, the cue sticks clacking thunderously loud as Kai’s hips pound into me.

I never knew defiance could feel this good.

“That’s it,” Kai’s thrusts puncture every word. “That’s. How. Good. Whores. Get. Fucked.”

A line of drool trails from my gaping lips. My fingers mindlessly curl around the wooden edges of the pool table. All of the tension winding through my body slips away, fading under the heat stoking between my legs.

“I’m so close,” I moan.

“I know, princess. I know. Just hold on for a little longer for me,” Kai rasps. “I wanna come inside of you.”

The heat rises through my body. My legs tense. Pleasure trembles inside of me, desperate to unravel. I don’t know how much longer I can hold on. I just need to—

“Where the hell are my socks?”

My breath stops. Kai freezes. The hairs on the back of my neck prickle at the sound of footsteps walking outside the lounge.

“What do we—”

Kai covers my mouth as the doorknob suddenly twists and turns.

“Why is this locked?”

Panic trembles through my fingers. I can see Kai and I in the mirrors on the walls. We’re stripped down to nothing, our arousal dripping down my legs, as I lay face down on the pool table with Kai’s hand over my mouth, and his cock stuffing me full.

But the thought of someone standing out there, just one wall away from seeing how dirty and depraved we are sends flutters down my stomach. It’s so wicked and freeing and—

“Bordel de merde,” Kai breathes into my ear. “Ease up, Di.”

My cheeks flush knowing my pussy has clenched tighter around him.

It’s not until the hockey player’s footsteps retreat further into the locker room that I relax ever so slightly.

Kai’s hand drops from my mouth. But my senses narrow back to the thickness of his cock filling me up.

Desire builds around my hips. They’re so tempted to thrust back and chase that mind-numbing friction that had my tits bouncing and my pussy throbbing to come all over Kai.

My throat grows dry with need. I prop myself up and whisper into Kai’s ear, “I need to finish. Can you get rid of him?”

Kai shuts his eyes and curses under his breath.

“Alright, hold on.” Kai reaches for his phone on the table and makes a call.

I can faintly hear a guy’s voice answer on the other side of the locker room. “What’s up?”

“Hey, man,” Kai’s voice comes out taut, as short breaths quietly push out of him. “W-Where are you?”

“I’m just grabbing my socks from my locker stall. Why?”

“You might wanna get out here. I think your car is about to get towed.”

“Shit! That’s my grandma’s car!” Eager footsteps race through the halls outside. “Thanks for telling me! I owe you one!”

Kai hangs up just as the door to the locker room swings shut. I sigh, slumping back against him. “That was close.”

I can hear the smirk in Kai’s voice as it drawls against my ear, “Did that really turn you on?”

I gulp, avoiding his eyes. “I was…I was just surprised. That’s all.”

“This is a safe space, Di. It’s alright to admit that you got turned on by the idea of us getting caught.”

“I don’t—” I gasp, as his hands curl around my tits, rolling the hard peaks between his fingers. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

Kai twists me around and props me onto the edge of the pool table.

“I’m talking about the fact that when Ryan walked in, your pussy was basically begging me to keep fucking you like this—” A whimpering moan breaks out of me as Kai pushes himself back in, drawing our faces closer together. “A part of you wanted him to see you get fucked on this pool table, huh?”

My lips quiver. “M-Maybe?”

Kai’s smile falls. He glares at me with smoldering green eyes that darken possessively.

“Well, that’s too bad.” His lips brush mine, his whisper feather-light. “No one gets to see you get used like this except for me.”

Stars break across my eyes as Kai starts fucking me again. My breathy whispers and his low grunts echo around the lounge. My back arches, curving into the hot friction thrusting in and out of me, so eager and rough I swear all of my atoms are breaking and rearranging for him.

“Mark me up,” I beg. “Make it clear that I’m yours to fuck.”

“Damn,” Kai groans, as a teasing smile trails his lips. “Did the Canadian Press Stylebook teach you to talk to your sources like this?”

“Of course,” I pant. “Why do you think I’m so persuasive?”

Kai laughs. He kisses down my chest before he sucks my tits into his mouth. I gasp, my fingers curling into his hair.

My eyes flit towards the locked door. At this angle, if anyone walks in, there will be no doubt in their minds of what they’re seeing.

Me, Diana Huang, one of the heiresses of the HMG, utterly naked, gasping and moaning as she’s being ruthlessly fucked on top of a pool table.

I should feel shame and embarrassment. But all I can comprehend is the desire exhilarating me from the inside out, emptying my head of everything except coming all over Kai’s cock.

My eyes roll back. I slump against the teal surface of the table, letting Kai fuck me into oblivion.

“Yes, Kai, just like that,” I moan, “fuck me just like that.”

His control snaps. Kai grips my hips tighter and slams into me. Rapid, deep groans punctuate his every thrust, his forearms straining, his dark brows furrowing, as he pounds out all of his anger, his frustrations, his fear.

A feral desire consumes me. My body tenses again, my orgasm rising onto its peak.

“Don’t stop,” I beg, “Please, don’t stop, Kai.”

Kai angles his head and raises his brow. “You wanna come, princess?”

“Y-Yes.” Tears prick my eyes, streaming down my face. “Please, let me cum.”

“Then be a good whore and look up at me.”

Through teary, hazy eyes, I do as he says.

I have always loved how strong and gentle Kai looked.

But God…he’s heavenly when he loses control.

Those dark green eyes pin me down, fierce with want and possession.

Kai groans my name. Sweat builds across his temples, slickening his black curls that grow damp.

My hands digging and raking down his chest, wordlessly begging him not to stop because I can feel it. The nerves bundling tight, my orgasm edging closer and closer, my thunderous pulse beating in my ears, my back arching—

“Kai!”

Shivers rack through my body, making my limbs jerk against the tide of pleasure radiating all over me. He fucks me through my orgasm. Bouts of pain and pleasure pump in and out as I gush all over him.

“Putain,” he curses. “Fuck, you feel so good, Di.”

Kai’s pace grows frenetic and desperate as he chases his own orgasm.

The pool table trembles back and forth, the hinges creaking.

Then his cock twitches inside of me. Kai finishes hard and fast. He groans, dropping his head down.

My nails slacken against his chest. They limply trail down, resting between the place where he and I are intertwined.

I take in the empty haze surrounding me, relishing how weightless I feel.

Kai swallows hard. He wraps his arm around my hips before he lifts me back up.

My hand flattens against his chest, the other cradling the nape of his neck.

Our foreheads press together, heavy breaths colliding.

I shiver against his thumb tracing my bottom lip.

Kai kisses me, deep and slow, reveling in the last remains of our hunger and our lust. His muscles gradually relax under my fingers, his rapid heart rate slowing to a normal pace.

Kai draws away. “You alright?”

“Y-Yeah,” I breathe out. “Are…are you?”

“Yeah.” Kai smiles in relief. “Jesus, that felt amazing. Thanks for helping me get out of my own head.”

“I’m thankful for this, too.” I let out a small chuckle. “I would’ve been beating people with those hopper balls if I wasn’t dragged in here.”

Kai laughs, and I can’t help smiling. He gently brushes my hair back, tucking it behind my ear. Mischief flickers across his face as he nods down at the pool table.

“Do you have any idea of how we’re gonna clean this up?”

My hands reek of disinfectant no matter how much soap I’ve scrubbed onto them.

I cross my arms, tucking my hands away as Kai and I walk back to the fundraiser. He lingers just one step behind.

“Di, relax, it’s fine,” Kai consoles. “We’re lucky we found something to wipe down that pool table.”

“Keep your voice down!” I panic.

All my fearlessness from before vanishes under the wholesome scene of families laughing and munching on grilled food at the picnic tables around us.

“What if people figure out what we did?” I whisper.

“I doubt they’ll draw a connection between us secretly hooking up and our hands smelling like disinfectant,” Kai assures, “Besides, reporters at the Howler have been working with the Griffins all day. They’ll probably think we’re helping each other out for a story.”

Helping each other out. The lewd sound of my eager moans and Kai’s hips pounding into me echoes in my head. I gulp, my cheeks flushing.

“Oh, Diana! Diana!”

My head snaps up. Sadie Beaumont, a first year Métis reporter, hurtles across the field towards me. She stumbles to a stop with her cheeks puffing out. “I was looking all over for you!”

“Yes, I was…” I gulp as Kai arches his brow at me. “I was helping some of the Griffins move around a few boxes in the athletics building.”

“Oh, did you happen to spill something?” Sadie wrinkles her nose. “You smell like disinfectant.”

Kai shrugs. “Yeah, Diana made a bit of a mess while she was helping me out.”

My eyes widen. Kai smirks smugly at his shoes.

“I-I, um…” I press a trembling hand to my throat. “Is there something I can help you with?”

“The source we have scheduled for this month’s radio show just cancelled.” She frowns. Sadie flips through a pocket agenda filled with underlined and highlighted deadlines. “He’s down with the flu and we don’t have anyone else lined up. Do you have any ideas?”

I swallow hard. Since the scandal broke out, many of my trusted sources have severed contact with me. Only a scattered few remain, but none of them have anything newsworthy to share with DHU students.

“Not really,” I confess.

Sadie shrinks back, defeated and crestfallen. Behind her, I can see Andrea lecturing a group of fidgeting first years.

I fight back the urge to roll my eyes. “Did Andrea have any ideas?”

“No. She just told me to ‘figure it out.’” Sadie groans. Suddenly, she perks up at Kai. “Hey, what about you? Aren’t you some big shot hockey player on campus?”

Kai scratches the back of his neck, chuckling sheepishly.

“Not for the right reasons,” he demurs. “But if you’re in a bind, I’m okay with stepping in for a quick interview.”

“That’s perfect!” she squeals. Sadie eagerly scribbles into her agenda. “I’ll email you all the details. You’re…Kai, right?”

He smiles and nods. “You got it.”

“Great!” Her pocket agenda snaps closed. “See you later!”

I make sure she’s far enough before I whirl around and smack Kai’s chest.

“‘She made a mess?’” I hiss, “Are you crazy?”

“That was kind of clever, you have to admit.” Kai laughs.

I roll my eyes, yet I can feel a smile coming on.

The afternoon sun softens over him. Standing beneath it with his hands tucked in his pockets, Kai looks so at ease that I wish he could always feel relaxed like this.

“Are you sure about doing an interview?” I fiddle with my media pass. “You’ve only done a few since your first year.”

“Yeah, I know.” Kai blows out a breath, raking his fingers through his hair. “They’re not my favorite thing to do, but it’s the only way I can control the narrative around me. At least people will get to hear the words out of my own mouth instead of someone else’s.”

“I can understand that.”

When you live under so much scrutiny, it’s so easy to lose your grip on who you are, especially in a world where rumors define your reputation and silence the truth coming out of your mouth all at once.

“Well, Sadie is a good reporter. Andrea and the rest might doubt her, but I don’t.” I raise my chin. Confidence shapes my every word. “I know she’s going to do a great interview with you.”

Kai chuckles and glances up from the ground to look at me. “So, I’m in good hands, then?”

“I’d like to think so.”

Kai smiles. My stomach flutters, unraveling with a warmth that makes my toes curl.

Stop it, Diana. It doesn’t matter how much he makes you laugh and smile. At the end of the day, Kai just wants the sex. Not you.

I clear my throat. “Well, I think—”

“—I should…” Kai nods at the car wash. “I should probably get back to my post.”

“Right.” I nod, my heart falling as I do. “Sorry about keeping you. Thank you again for…um…”

“No problem.” Kai laughs, all traces of his anger and panic gone.

I watch as he goes back to the car wash. A pathetic sadness comes over me. I know this is what it means to be friends with benefits. You can only have bits and pieces of someone because what you have isn’t meant to last. But the arrangement still hurts as much as it relieves.

My phone pings, jostling me out of my own mind. I glance down and see a breaking news story from the HMG.

A string of food poisoning outbreaks plague restaurants in Gastown

The tension in my heart eases. Regardless of the scandal, the HMG is always the first media outlet to publish breaking news stories that grab people’s attention.

Our determination to get the story first is what keeps the company afloat when our reputations are on thin ice.

It’s an odd blessing I’ve always been thankful for.

My fingers tighten on my phone when I scroll down to the next story.

The HMG, Decibel 6, and the Pacific Observer collaborate on joint project to produce story on rapidly melting Arctic ice

The feature photo shows Sophia, Jonathan, and Gregory in a solemn discussion with scientists in the DHU microbiology lab.

Every word in the article makes me want to scream.

This was supposed to be my project. I was supposed to be in this photo. A part of me wants to storm into the lab and root myself into the project against bàba’s wishes. But I know it would backfire more than it would resolve.

No one trusts me anymore. As irritating and unfair as it is, I have to find a way to clear my name before I can even think about getting back everything I’ve lost.
