Chapter Five

At James’ comments, Spencer gasped then he looked at Bane again. “What do you want to know?”

Bane turned to face him. “I need to uncover your family’s secrets.”

Spencer shook his head. “I’m an only child and my father is gone already. So there is nothing to find as I do not have a family.”

Bane sauntered over to him and ran the blade down his shirt front, right at the pocket.

The material shredded and Spencer stared down at his shirt as his fear grew.

Bane leaned in closer to him and whispered, “You didn’t mention your mother, I wonder why that is?”

Spencer shuddered in fear and spat out, “My mother left us the day I was born. I have no idea if she’s still alive or where the fuck she went when she walked out.”

Bane made another cut on his shirt.“And what about your brother?”

Spencer didn’t move or look up but he insisted, “I don’t have a brother.”

James shook his head in disappointment. “Dude, you must like pain. You are not doing what is needed here to avoid bleeding all over this floor.”

Bane liked that line as he raised the knife and cut Spencer’s shirt open from the neck to his belt buckle.

When his shirt fell open there wasn’t even a mark on his chest. Just like Bane had described this knife was beyond razor sharp.

Now, Spencer really began to tremble.

Bane scoffed. “If you do not have a brother by the name of Jasper Owens’, then why would you plant a bomb in my vehicle because you thought I was in his house?”

Spencer snapped his gaze up to Bane and his face looked ashen now.

“See, we know about your family ties. That you do indeed have a family.” Bane nodded.

“We know you are Miranda Gaynor’s son. We also know Jasper is her son as well.

..oh! And don’t forget about your sister, Lisbon Parks.

You all may have different fathers but you are all Miranda’s children.

And all three of you followed in mama’s footsteps. ”

Spencer couldn’t deny it so he didn’t try. By now, he fully realized that Bane knew the truth about his family. “So what do you want me to do?” he finally asked.

“You are going to tell me what the family is really doing and just how far it's already gone,” Bane announced.

Spencer kept his lips tight as he did not speak.

Bane nodded. “I think you should know something here. Any minute now your warehouse is going to be raided by government forces. Your men will be arrested and your inventory will be collected then stored for your trial. The charges against you will multiply as they take inventory and I’ll make sure they include attempted murder. ”

Spencer scoffed. “Attempted murder? You got no proof.”

“Oh... is that right?” Bane reached for his phone and brought up his surveillance video. He turned his cell to Spencer and played the part where he was planting the bomb.

Spencer paled and more sweat beaded on his forehead again, dripping down the side of his face.

“And I think I should tell you that they have your brother in custody,” James spoke up once more. “And they found enough evidence at his place that will nail the whole damn family to the wall. Jasper kept everything. His records go back twenty years or better.”

Spencer thought about what the warehouse held and he felt his stomach begin to roll.

Then he thought about what Jasper’s evidence might be and despite being in prison, Jasper still had a lot the government could use against them.

He looked at Bane and James. “Wait a minute, you guys aren’t government agents. You can’t turn us over to anyone.”

Bane smiled at him then turned to glance at James. “No we don’t work for the government, but there is someone involved with this that does. And he’s busy reading everything we found at Jasper’s house.”

“And by the way,” James added with a low growl. “Your boys failed to finish what they started by taking down that copter. Shay Montross and Stone Masters are still alive.”

Spencer opened his mouth in shock.

Bane smiled again and his eyes were still cold as ice. “Your men however, are not.”

“How the hell did you manage to kill them? Spencer wanted to know. “They were professionals.”

Bane sneered. “Your mercenaries are good but they got sloppy. They also went up against people that don’t like to be shot at because they will shoot back.”

Spencer growled as he looked frustrated. “Those same men will come here for me.”

Bane raised an eyebrow and asked, “Will they though?” He shrugged. “I know of these men. They only go where they are paid to go. And in case you don’t know it yet, you’ve got no money to pay them with anymore.”

Spencer growled, “What the hell are you talking about? I’ve got money.”

“I suppose that Bane is right...you do not know it yet,” James cut in.

Bane shook his head and tisked at Spencer. Then he checked his watch and said, “You have zip now. They froze your accounts. They also got your sister’s accounts and dear old mom’s too.”

“What about Jasper’s accounts?” Spencer asked in shock.

Bane shrugged. “Oh, they took care of his accounts yesterday, well his and Charlie’s.”

“You can’t do that!” Spencer screamed. “That’s my money, you can’t just take it like that.” He now fought the restraints as he swung from side to side.

Bane rolled his eyes and held out his hand to stop the swinging. “Behave now. I haven’t even started yet.”

Spencer stopped swinging and glared at him. “When I get free, I’m going to kill you.”

Bane just smiled. “You can try but you’ll be the one face down in the dirt.” He laid the knife back down on the table. Then he walked back to the cabinet, pulled out a pair of gloves and donned them.

James heard the snap of rubber and he did panic a little as he believed there would be blood now. Lots and lots of blood. “What are you doing?”

Bane just smiled and said, “I was going to use Genghis. Then I remembered your abhorrence of blood spilling. Then I remembered that I had Elvira here at the house.”

James cocked his head at him and quipped sarcastically, “You cannot be serious.”

“Sure, I mean back in my day she was hot. And also deadly. And her favorite game was Truth or Dare.”

James looked puzzled. “I seem to remember that she was sort of a slut and a great comedian.”

Bane scoffed and replied, “Yes to both. But I won’t argue the point of her wisdom. She was a fucking genius. So... it’s Tit or Tat.” He laughed.

Spencer gaped at him. “You are insane!”

Bane nodded. “All the best killers are, you know?”

James broke character and barked out a laugh.

Bane ignored it, although his eyes did show amusement.

“So we’re going to play a special game of Truth or Dare.

” He grabbed a small box from the cabinet and strode back to Spencer.

He looked him in the eye and said, “This is going to be very unpleasant for both of us but more so for you, I suppose. But since you do not care to tell me anything, we shall do it this way.” He tugged the man’s belt off and pulled out as much slack from his pants as he could, then he reached into the box and took something out of it to shove it down Spencer’s jeans.

He positioned it so it was pressed against his lower belly and secured it by the waistband of Spencer’s boxers. It also remained too close to his nuts.

Looking hysterically frightened, Spencer snarled at him, “What the hell are you doing?”
