Chapter Six

Silent now, Bane reached back into the box and took out a remote.

He gave Spencer no real answer but said, “We play, of course. Well, you are the contestant really. Just think of me as your host.” He leaned in close to add, “...your host of pain. Here are the rules: If you tell me the truth you won’t get zapped, but if you tell me a lie, you get a little bit of frying.

This remote goes to level five. I’ll start at level one and work my way up.

That’s only fair, ya know? Somewhere around three, is all I’ve ever had to go before the creeps I’ve used this on, crumble like apple pie.

” He narrowed his eyes at Spencer and added, “But just so you know, three is unbelievably painful.”

James remained absolutely silent as he simply watched in utter curiosity. He loved to learn more about Bane as his levels and depths didn’t seem to stop.

“Now, shall we begin?” Bane gave Spencer one more chance then he began to pace back and forth. “What are the government men going to find in your warehouse?”

Spencer pressed his lips together tightly and just stared at him.

Bane moved closer and stared back at him. “Dare it is.” He hit the remote.

With a huge intake of breath, Spencer screamed in pain.

His body twitched as an electric current ran through him briefly.

Its main targets were the man’s nuts and lower belly.

The zap was strong enough to take his breath away and when it stopped he panted hard in order to catch his breath.

“What— the actual fuck?” he whispered as he lowered his head in pain.

“Do you understand now?” Bane asked him softly.

Spencer looked up at him and snarled. “You are a motherfucker, man.”

Bane shrugged. “I’ve been called worse. But really you need to use your imagination a little.

Some have screamed things like Fucking Bastard.

Prick. Vile Killer. Asshole. Well, that one has no panache anyway.

So, shall we try this again?” He then repeated the same question, “What are we going to find when the government men raid your warehouse?”

Spencer again didn’t say a word.

Again, Bane hit the remote. This time he held the button down a little longer. He just stared at the man twitching and yelling for a moment then he stopped.

Spencer just hung there for a moment. Then lifting his head, he spat at Bane.

Bane didn’t even hesitate as he hit the button again, this time in a short burst.

Spencer let out with a high-pitched scream and writhed in pain.

Bane repeated his question, “What are we going to find in that damn warehouse?”

Spencer rolled his head and whispered, “Guns.... He panted the words out weakly, “...t-they are going to find a shitload o-of guns, all ready t-to be shipped out.”

Bane smiled. “Now was that so hard?”

“Anything else there?” James wanted to know.

“Some electronics too,” Spencer told them.

“Is this tied to your family enterprises?” Bane asked, already knowing the answer.

When Spencer didn’t answer right away Bane turned to James and asked, “Maybe the others should hear this too.” He pointed at a door at the far side of the room.

“That staircase leads to the infirmary. Only bring the Sins and Pappy.” He didn’t want Shay to be seen by Spencer.

He was the one or his compatriots in government would build the case on this guy and his family.

James moved over to the door and opened it. He didn’t close it on his way out but a few minutes later, Pappy, Sam, Deke, Mountain and Hound joined Bane and James.

They all gathered around Bane while standing back.

Bane looked at Pappy and said, “So far, we know that the LEDs are going to find guns and electronics in the warehouse and they are all ready to be shipped out. He hasn’t told us yet if this is all part of his family’s enterprises or not.”

Pappy held a phone up and it would be a video of Spencer hanging there, so Shay could see and hear this meeting.

Spencer sneered at the Sins. “My men will come for me. They’ll get me out of this situation and they will end all of you. Do you hear me? They will end all of you!” he shouted.

Bane passed the remote to Sam. “Press the red button.” He pointed at it.

Sam paused to stare at Bane.

“This guy planted that bomb,” Bane added this tidbit.

Sam snapped his head up and tapped his beard with his finger. “I got singed and landed on my ass, you dick!” He pressed the button.

Spencer screamed as his body started swinging.

Sam laughed like he just got to ride the best rollercoaster in the park. “What the hell?”

“I call it Elvira,” Bane explained. “And she sure as hell knows how to jolt them knockers.”

Mountain looked puzzled as he asked, “What the hell did you just do to him?”

Bane nodded at the remote. “We’re playing truth or dare. For every lie he tells me he gets a jolt in his belly. And he just lied about his men coming for him.”

James just shook his head. “Yeah... none of you want to know where the other half of that remote is, trust me.”

Pappy looked at Spencer and nodded. “The Feds raided the warehouse, they got there about fifteen minutes ago. They only ran into a little trouble with your guys. Seems you didn’t choose your men careful enough. Cause as soon the shooting started, they ran away like the pussies they are.”

“They never did that.” Spencer growled out.

“You’re right, not all of them ran. Some of them stayed. Then the lead cop told them over megaphone that all your money was frozen. And that they weren’t going to leave there alive. Your men broke ranks so fast they left skid marks in their pants.”

Spencer growled then began to scream threats at them all, “I will have you and your families killed! You can’t do this! I will get out and you will all pay!”

Bane shut him up with another jolt.

Spencer cried now but he shuddered as he still rebelled, “Y-you a-r-e are d-dead.”

Pappy looked at Bane then over at Spencer. “Then more news for you, Mr. Wagner. Marshalls raided your house too and they found something very interesting at your place.”

Spencer kept shaking his head as he gave no reply.

“They found your sister hiding in one of the closets.”

Spencer paused his head shaking as he looked perplexed. “No, they didn’t. I have never met my sister.”

Pappy nodded. “I know, but they found her anyway. They have her in custody. Your sweet mom, Miranda sent her on a little mission of her own. She sent her daughter to your house to kill you. Mommy wants your branch of the family empire under her control and with you dead, she figured she could just take it.”

Spencer shook his head and gazed upward. “That sounds about right,” his voice sounded raspy now from all the screaming. “But why would Lisbon think she could just come after me like that?”

“I imagine it’s because she’s just like her mother,” Bane told him. “Just as mean and nasty as dear ole Mommy.”

“I was told that you froze my accounts, did you freeze their accounts too?” Spencer demanded.

Pappy nodded. “They did.”

“Good.” Spencer growled. “But you should know something about Miranda-bitch, she always has enough cash on hand that she’ll never actually be broke.”

Pappy grinned. “Yeah, we know. The law was prepared for that as well. They also flagged her passport so she can’t just get on a plane or a boat.”

“Then you might want to check with my dad’s attorney. Bill Monroe,” Spencer informed them. “My dad used to hold money for her in a safe deposit box at his bank. Bill is also on the account and he has the key she needs to get into the box.”

Bane stared hard at him then asked, “And why are you suddenly so helpful now ?”

The room full of men all stared at Spencer.
