Chapter 32 Perfect Timing
Chapter thirty-two
Perfect Timing
Sorin
We make it to the kitchen and find the prince sitting there smiling at Sylvie, his plate empty.
“That was amazing, Sylvie. Thank you again.”
“Oh! It is no problem at all!” Sylvie glances over at us. “Come in, come in! I will grab your meals right away.” She waves us forward.
“Actually Sylvie. Can we wait until Alaceandra comes down for our meals? Would you mind giving us a bit of privacy?” Sam smiles at the older lady.
She tilts her head. “Well, sure I will be in my quarters. Please come get me when the young lady arrives.” She pets the prince’s back and departs towards her room.
Once the door closes, we turn to the prince. He is already looking at us expectantly. “What do you want?” he asks in his usual bored tone.
“We don’t trust you,” Sam starts.
Not the way I would have begun this conversation but the truth, nonetheless.
The prince smiles. “Seems we are on the same page.”
Sam smirks.
“Nevertheless, I think we all know why we are here,” Sam continues.
“And whatever is the reason for that?” the prince asks, leaning closer to us, his arms on the table.
“Alaceandra,” I butt in. Tiring of their hedging.
“Oh?” A glint of interest passes through the prince’s vision.
“Don’t act like you aren’t aware, asshat,” Sam says.
The prince’s eyebrows furrow. “I don’t think insults are the way to go here, Fadres,” the prince chides, amusement in his tone.
Sam gives him a dry look.
The prince leans back. “So, I might have had a suspicion,” the prince provides.
“But I already told my Little Dove she was free to pursue you two if she so wished. The connection between the three of you is apparent and I have no intention of stunting Alaceandra’s growth by stopping it.
So, pray tell, why are you coming to me? ”
Sam and I share a glance, taken aback by the prince’s news. He knows. I curse to myself. A smile filled with pride takes over his features.
Sam glares. “What are you after here?”
An odd look flits over the prince’s features before his arrogant mask is back in place. “We all have our motives, including you both, or would you have me believe your wanting of her is rooted in childhood love?”
The room darkens slightly. “You are such a—” I jab Sam and the room goes back to normal. Sam takes a deep breath smoothing a mask of cool indifference on his face.
“Lace has never had a choice in her life,” I supply.
“She needs all of us. We need to all be in agreeance here on what the terms are, seeing as it is apparent now we all know there is more to her than meets the eye.” I give both men a hard look, which they return with a nod.
“She has a hard path ahead of her and she is going to need all the help she can get.” I pace the small kitchen and sigh, looking up at the ceiling.
“The more allies she has the better and seeing as she has already marked the two of us,” I shoot the prince a sidelong glance.
“It is only a matter of time before she inadvertently does the same to you.” I point a finger towards Sam “especially with the heat coming off of the two of you during those training sessions.” Sam cuts his eyes away from me.
“Alaceandra had not mentioned to the both of us what you had consented to. I think it might be a good idea for us all to talk to her about this together so there is no room for questions when it comes to our intentions. There needs to be no barriers.”
“As I said we are on the same page.” The prince smirks. “I was right in my assessment of the two of you. What an interesting pair the little dove has aligned herself with.”
Sam rolls his eyes. “Sure,” he says blandly.
“We need to be careful though,” I ignore them, continuing. “Alaceandra is still a virgin, and her newfound powers and marks are going to being pushing on her to… fully unlock them with all of us.” I say delicately. “We have to do our best not to overwhelm her, are we understood?”
The prince nods, but Sam stays noticeably silent, his face concentrated. I arch a brow at him.
“Are we understood?” I repeat.
A creak sounds behind me and I spin around quickly. Lace stands there; eyes wide.
“Ah, perfect timing.” The prince says with a smile.
