From Boo to Work Boo . . .

The Next Morning

I was tired today. I wouldn’t tell Falcon that I had a little bit of joint pain, because he would blame it on our sex, or he would swear that I was on the horizon of a flare-up. Little did he know, sex made things all better.

My day started early no matter how late I went to bed.

I had my medication regimen to thank for that.

There was a med for a little bit of everything.

On top of my SLE and lupus nephritis diagnoses, I was also diagnosed with chronic kidney disease anemia and hypertension secondary to my kidney disease.

Add to all that the fact that I was on the kidney transplant waiting list and I had a smorgasbord of prescriptions.

Those were just good mornings, you’re awake meds.

When it was time for breakfast, which was usually an hour later, I had to take sevelamer carbonate, or as it was called Renvela.

It was a phosphate binder that I had to take when I ate my first bite of my meals.

With my kidney failure, they no longer removed the phosphorus efficiently from my blood.

To avoid a buildup in my blood between treatments, I had to take the med.

My dialysis didn’t remove enough of the phosphorus by itself.

If the levels got too high, a host of issues occurred like cramping, bad ass fatigue, bad joint pain, and worst of all, hardened blood vessels and heart problems over time because of the calcium deposits.

I took the Renvela with breakfast, lunch, and dinner. At night, I took my second dose of my Plaquenil. That was a lot of medications to take, and that was an everyday occurrence.

If I had a lupus flare, I added on Prednisone, which was a steroid.

I hated that drug with a passion. When I had to take it, Lula Ann knew from the first interaction with me that day because of my attitude due to the damn mood swings it caused.

On top of the damn attitude, my face swelled, I ate like a hungry hippo, and I had problems sleeping.

I couldn’t be a fat-faced, no-sleeping glutton with an attitude. That went against the nature of life.

On the days that I had dialysis, two more meds were added: heparin that kept my blood from clotting inside of the dialysis machine and Epogen that was for the anemia that was caused by my kidney disease.

They gave me IV iron on occasion when I needed it for my energy and iron stores.

There were times that my session made me nauseous, so I was given zofran.

Those little shits were expensive as hell.

“Baby, I’m about to head out,” Falcon said as soon as he saw me emerge from the back.

After I showered and got dressed, I came out to the dining room to a prepared breakfast, with my water and medication sitting next to it. It didn’t matter if I was at his house or mine; this was our normal.

“Fal, you know that you don’t have to set out my meds and cook my breakfast. I appreciate it, but you don’t have to do it.” This man took care of me so well that I sometimes doubted that I deserved it.

In my few past relationships it was like pulling teeth to get some act right from those niggas.

They never took the time to truly understand my condition.

It sounded all good until I was too tired or in pain to fuck.

There were rare times when my pussy acted up and didn’t want to get wet like normal.

You would think grown men understood that bodies changed and may need different things at different times.

When I introduced a water-based lubricant, you would have thought that I asked them to put acid on their dicks.

It was always an issue, and I had short patience for ignorance. The goal was wet pussy, good dick, and nuts. How the pussy got wet was irrelevant in my opinion.

Falcon came over, wrapped his arms around me, then passionately kissed my lips. His stare was intense when he pulled back from our kiss. “Kee, I want to be a part of your daily routine. It’s my pleasure as your man to make your life easier. I take pride in that shit. Let your man be a man.”

My man has spoken. “I understand. I’ll see you in a bit at the meeting.”

“You sure will. I forgot to bring my suit over, so I have to go home to get dressed. By the way, you look gorgeous today. I love your hair like that,” he complimented.

Last night before he got here, Lula Ann installed a crochet style.

It was a feather curl look that sculpted my face beautifully.

I loved crochet styles because they were lightweight and a great protective style.

My natural hair was long, but I preferred to wear weave for convenience.

“Thank you, baby. I’ll see you at the office. ”

We said our final goodbyes, and he was on his way. I took my medication, then sat down to eat the breakfast that Fal prepared. He made the perfect soft scrambled eggs. I didn’t eat much in the morning because I normally had lunch around eleven.

I was a little nervous about the meeting today.

Cory, Seth, and Shannon would be there for the proposal.

They were all equal owners of Queen Luxury Property Management.

They made all the final decisions as a collective.

I would say that with all the suggestions that I gave them, they accepted.

That was a plus in this case because unbeknownst to them, their decision would determine if my boo became my work boo.

The Boss Has Arrived . . .

One thing was certain and two things were for sure: When these people left, I planned to fuck the hell out of my man in my office. If I couldn’t fuck him, the least that I would do was give him the head of a lifetime. Something would happen in my office behind my closed, locked door.

Falcon Josiah St. Claire walked his fine, chocolate ass in our conference room in a tailored five-piece suit that gave silent warning. He didn’t come here to negotiate in infinite circles, play games, or leave without a contract. The energy took all the air out of the room.

I barely listened to his proposal because I knew it well. My attention was on the reaction of the owners. After years of working with them, I knew their tells. I knew when they liked or disliked something. Based on their tells, they loved Falcon’s proposal.

The property solutions company that we recently terminated the contract with took care of our trash and recycling services, pet waste management, as well as porter services.

Porter services was when we needed an apartment turned over as well as on demand maintenance support.

Those were the same services that they needed as well as the added service of pressure washing.

We used a separate company because the previous company didn’t offer the service.

St. Claire Property Solutions had cornered itself in the market as a one-stop shop.

It was a genius business model that he developed over the years.

Property management companies in the Charlotte and Rock Hill area were astonished by the trust that Falcon’s company gained in the industry.

Most of the companies were owned by paper white individuals.

It was almost unbelievable to them that a Black-owned company operated at the level of excellence that my man required that his operated at.

Seth cleared his throat after Falcon sat in his seat at the head of the table.

“This presentation is extremely impressive, and I am very happy with the price point given. As you know, we currently have seven properties that we need serviced. Do you think your company has the capacity to take on over four thousand more units between our seven properties?”

Falcon sat back in his seat. “I am prepared to scale so that I have the adequate staff to service your properties at the level of excellence that I require. We currently have a waitlist of people that are seeking employment with my company. The addition of your properties will provide an opportunity for promotions that will boost morale. As I mentioned in my proposal, if you are willing to utilize individuals from my employment and training program, St. Claire Workforce Initiative, that will add a five percent discount on your overall account. All my employees, regardless of the source, are thoroughly checked and bonded.”

Shannon nodded with bright eyes. “I love the fact that you have a company-funded employment and training program. It’s important that we train people and keep their hands busy, especially the younger ones.

Everyone is not interested in going to a four-year college or college period.

For some, certification in different areas is what will make them successful in life. ”

I knew if anyone liked that, it would be her. Seth, Cory, and Shannon were siblings whose grandparents passed this business down. They were trust fund kids who happened to understand the importance of hard work.

Shannon was the baby of the three who liked black dick.

Oh, and by black dick, I meant toxic black dick.

She had an affinity for felons, thirty-year-old trying to make it rappers, and ‘I have a dream’ niggas.

Out of the three of them, she was the only one who did not have full access to her trust fund.

She was given a monthly stipend, and if she wanted more, it had to be requested from the executor of the trust. All that came about because she got into a relationship with a dude that ran her for her pockets.

By the end of it all, she bought that man a condo, a big boy truck, a Hellcat, a motorcycle, countless jewelry, clothes, and jet-set around the world with him.
