Chapter 14 #2

What was she even saying ? Liv cringed to herself, but the crinkle on the side of Quinn’s eyes made her continue. “I’m not dating, and you’re not dating…but if you’re attracted to me, too…maybe we could not date together?”

“Olivia Palmer, are you proposing a friends-with-benefits situation?” Quinn asked, sounding playfully scandalized .

“Yes,” Liv replied with all the confidence she could gather, and then she was done waiting.

She leaned in and gently touched her lips to Quinn’s.

This kiss was sweet and soft, but there was something powerful behind it, something that had been building for as long as they’d known each other.

As they parted, Quinn let out a small gasp, and Liv realized that, though this had felt inevitable to her, she may have moved too fast. “Fuck. I probably should have waited for your answer.”

But Quinn just pulled her back in, murmuring against her lips, “Oh, it’s a hard yes for me.”

They sat like that for a while, kissing, mostly slow, gentle moments alternating with bursts of heat. When, in a moment of intensity, Liv moved her body so that she was fully on Quinn’s lap, straddling her legs, Quinn pulled back.

“Wait, wait,” she said, breathing in deeply, trying to catch her breath. “There are parts of my body that may never forgive me for stopping this, but I think we should slow down.”

“Quinn… I want you,” Liv said, and she could tell that Quinn was more than a little affected by those words. Liv had never said anything like that to anyone in her life, but she meant it more than she could adequately express.

“I want you too,” Quinn replied, clearly trying to maintain her composure, even as Liv pressed down on her legs, grinding into her. “I want you so much, you have no idea what you’re doing to me right now.”

Liv felt emboldened at that, and she leaned in, so close to her ear that she knew Quinn felt her words as much as she heard them. “I have some idea.”

Quinn looked at her in awe, and Liv felt powerful.

She’d been wanted before, sure, but no one had ever looked at her in a way that came close to matching the desire in Quinn’s eyes.

Still, she watched as Quinn took a deep breath, squaring her shoulders, the energy in the room shifting.

It was obvious to Liv that Quinn was emboldened, that she knew exactly how to take charge of the situation.

Before she even spoke, Liv felt like she might combust .

“I want to keep going, I do. I want to touch you. I want to taste you,” Quinn said, and Liv felt a gasp escape her own lips without permission. “I want to watch your gorgeous face as I make you come.”

Swept up in her words, Liv felt want pool between her legs. She’d never felt like this before. This desperate . She licked her lips, watching as Quinn, only human, focused entirely on the path of her tongue. “So, what’s the problem?”

Quinn paused for a moment, collecting her thoughts, her hand grasping Liv’s hip. “You are…one of my favorite people in the whole world. And we share a room, and this is very complicated. So…maybe we should at least sleep on it?”

For several moments, Liv just stared at her, blinking slowly, before she let out a puff of air and lifted herself off Quinn, taking several steps away from her, hoping the distance would give her more clarity. “You’re right. I. Hate. It. But yeah…understood.”

Because, yeah. This was complicated. Incredibly so. And they probably needed to talk it through, to make sure they were 100% on the same page. But when she thought about it, just the idea of being with Quinn like that had Liv’s body overheating, even as shivers shot up and down her spine.

“I’m going to go take a cold shower,” Liv announced, and Quinn chuckled as she grabbed pajamas and her shower caddy, scampering from the room.

When she got back to their dorm, her body had calmed down to a much more manageable level of turned on, though she still felt it tick up a few notches when she realized Quinn was watching her brush out her hair, eyeing her up and down while pretending to read a textbook.

“You can’t look at me like that if you don’t want me to jump on you,” Liv said, scolding her playfully.

Quinn arched her eyebrow. “To be clear: I never said I didn’t want that. ”

“Right,” Liv replied, her insides melting at Quinn’s words. She purposely walked between their beds, reaching over to take the textbook Quinn wasn’t reading from her hands. “Can I have a hug? Before I lay down all the way over there, and promise not to touch you for the rest of the night?”

Quinn groaned, flexing her fingers, before she allowed Liv to take her hands and gently pull at her until they were both standing. Quinn gazed down into Liv’s eyes, her expression softer than before.

“I’m a little worried that you’re going to break me,” Quinn whispered.

“I would never,” was Liv’s quick reply. She lifted her arms to wrap around Quinn’s neck, with Quinn encircling her middle, pressing her hand into the small of Liv’s back, and they just held each other, breaths syncing.

When they finally pulled apart, Liv forced herself to move away. She lay down under her covers, though her eyes were still on Quinn.

“What?” Quinn asked, with a hint of suspicion.

“Can I at least tell Scarlet that you were pining after me?” Liv asked, her sweet tone attempting to sound innocent, trying to break the seriousness of the moment.

“Shut up,” Quinn replied before throwing her pillow at Liv.

“Oh, you are not getting this back,” Liv told her. She curled up around the pillow and fell asleep, breathing in the scent of Quinn.
