Chapter 24 #2

Or at least, that was what she might think if they were more than friends.

“Hey,” Liv said, moving to stand in front of Quinn.

“Hey,” Quinn said, hands still safely in her pockets.

It was like Liv saw right through her. She could tell with the way she eyed her, fingers twirling her long hair, before she asked Quinn to show her around the apartment.

Quinn felt the heat emanating from Liv as they walked the floor plan, her hands itching to reach out and touch her, to thread their fingers together.

“What movie are we watching tonight?” Liv asked, her voice soft, as she looked around her bedroom.

Quinn had set up the queen-sized bed Liv’s parents had ordered.

She’d even made it up with the bedding, and she had to stop herself from throwing Liv down on the bed just then, not concerned in the least that Emma was in the living room.

Quinn had to think for several moments, trying to remember what Liv had asked. When it came to her, she said, “I let Emma pick. Jurassic Park.”

Liv raised her eyebrows again, saying with a laugh, “She has a thing for Laura Dern.”

“Everyone who has eyes and good taste has a thing for Laura Dern,” Emma shouted.

When they rejoined her in the living room, Emma had already pulled up the movie on the television, waiting to press play. Liv sat next to Emma on the couch, and Quinn went to grab them drinks and snacks before settling herself on the floor.

“Quinn, there’s plenty of room up here,” Emma said, and Quinn could hear the amusement in her voice.

“Just play the movie,” Quinn grumbled.

They made it about halfway through Jurassic Park before they decided to order pizza, Liv insisting that she pay for all the work that Quinn did to make the apartment livable in her absence.

Quinn appreciated the gesture, sure, but they wouldn’t even have most of the things in said apartment if Liv and her family hadn’t bought them, so she still didn’t feel great about it.

They ordered dinner anyway and ate with the movie still playing in the background.

Liv and Emma distracted each other, as they were apt to do, chatting about their summer exploits, most of which Quinn had already heard about.

Quinn was perfectly content, though, sitting there with the two of them, particularly when Liv’s hand drifted over the edge of the couch, fingers sliding along her shoulders and playing gently with her hair.

It was so sweet, and it was absolute torture.

Emma ended up making it about halfway through The Lost World before she announced that she should head out.

They quickly cleaned the living room, with Emma making faces at Quinn whenever she thought Liv wasn’t paying attention, and then finally, finally , Emma left, and it was just the two of them, in the same space for the first time in months.

The door had barely clicked shut before Liv was wrapped around Quinn, their bodies fully pressed together.

“I’ve missed you so much,” Liv said, so close Quinn thought she might be trying to press the words into her skin.

“I’ve missed you, too,” Quinn admitted, and she touched her lips to Liv’s forehead.

“I love her, but I can’t believe you invited Emma here for our first night in this place,” Liv said. Quinn heard the amusement in her tone.

Even with Liv still in her arms, Quinn managed to shrug. “I thought, maybe we should ease into this?”

“Great idea,” Liv replied, a half-smile across her lips before she backed away from Quinn. “I’m going to take a shower.”

Liv was almost out of the room before she stopped and, after making sure Quinn’s eyes were still on her, she pulled off her shirt, tossing it at Quinn.

She unbuttoned her pants and let them slowly fall to the floor, and then, in a move that could have come directly from Quinn’s dreams, Liv crooked her finger, motioning for Quinn to follow.

Quinn stripped off her own clothes as she trailed Liv, finding her adjusting the water in the shower to a perfect, steamy temperature.

They’d never had the chance to do this before.

It wasn’t an option in their dorm, not when they had a strict “only in our room” rule, so Quinn was going to make sure they savored this.

As they let the water splash over them, getting accustomed to the warmth, Quinn slid her fingers under Liv’s jaw, lifting her head so that she could capture Liv’s lips in a kiss.

She tried to imbue the motion with all she was feeling.

The anticipation and desire, sure, and the thrill at being able to touch Liv.

But also, there was simple excitement, pure joy that they were back together, back in the same place, and they both, it appeared, still wanted this .

Warm, wet skin met warm, wet skin, Quinn’s strong thigh sliding between Liv’s, feeling Liv grind down into her. They stayed like that for a while, exchanging lazy kisses and simply being present in this moment.

“I missed this,” Liv said, between kisses, before again telling Quinn, “I missed you.”

Quinn would say it again, too. She’d tell her over and over if that’s what Liv wanted to hear, but her mouth was busy then, moving from Liv’s jaw, pulling her dripping wet hair to one shoulder so she could have full access to her neck.

Quinn’s hands drifted, running up and down the length of Liv’s arms before sliding up her shoulders and coasting down, palms pressing into her breasts, making both of them shudder.

Quinn’s dexterous fingers grazed over Liv’s nipples before focusing in, skillfully working the tips into tight peaks.

“That feels so good,” Liv breathed, and she mimicked the motions across Quinn’s chest. Quinn lost herself in the feeling for a moment before regaining control again, taking Liv’s hands into one of her own and moving them above her head, gently moving her so that her back was against the wall, making her gasp. “It’s cold!”

“You’ll be okay,” Quinn replied, practically growling in her ear, as she dragged her fingers down, sliding between Liv’s legs. It was Quinn’s turn to gasp when she found an entirely different warm, slick heat.

“Fuck,” Liv shouted, as Quinn gave her the pressure she needed, her fingers circling lavishly around Liv’s clit.

It had been so long, and Quinn knew Liv’s body so well that it only took a few minutes before she was crying out, Quinn still holding Liv’s arms against the wall as she came.

When Quinn let her arms go, Liv wrapped them around Quinn, clinging to her.

“Can I wash your hair?” Quinn asked gently once Liv came down from her high.

Liv’s response was pure affection. Quinn reached for the bottle of shampoo before carefully spinning Liv so that her back was to Quinn, allowing her to work the suds into Liv’s hair, gently pulling her fingers through beautiful, dark locks.

They washed each other slowly, reverently, before shutting the water off and stepping back into the cool air of the bathroom, and then Quinn went to grab towels from the linen closet. They were quiet as they attempted to dry off, but it was a sweet, tender stillness.

Until Liv broke the silence.

“Come to bed with me?” she asked, her voice a whisper.

And, as a friend…how could Quinn possibly turn her down?
