Chapter 4 #2

“Ooh, I can’t wait to burst my mama bubble with that info,” Chance chuckled.

“No, you can’t tell her yet. Not her or anybody needs to know about me. Not until we complete the mission first. Understood?”

“Cool with me,” he agreed.

“If this all you brought me here to tell me, you could’ve sent this message by way of Fernando,” I shook my head. “I ain’t got no reason to tell nobody else ‘bout you being here. Is that all?”

“You act like his ass too,” she rolled her eyes before removing her hat. “No, Nasir, you can’t leave because that’s not the only reason I risked my life for this damn meeting. Now, can I continue or will this be a trip in vain?”

“Nawl, he acts just like you,” Chance corrected her.

After a brief awkward silence, she explained the purpose of her meeting.

It was a warning to pick up the pace on my plan with pushing the work.

Although he gave me a month to have everything up and running, he’ll be popping in to check on my progress.

With him being a stickler about timelines, if he didn’t think you were where you needed to be then you end updismissed before you ever got the work.

Sometimes that dismissal was by death and she didn’t want to risk that, so she came to assist.

“How are you plannin’ on movin’ the work?” She wondered as she folded her arms across her chest.

“By car hauling,” I informed. “I already secured my CDLs in prison, so that part is completed. I’ve been looking into trucks online to purchase next.”

“You’re goin’ to transport the work in cars? Why not just drive the car?” she countered as she continued to marinate on my idea.

“The work will be secured within the car. That way it’ll be almost impossible to detect. It’ll get delivered to the buyers through the dealer of the cars, and that’s where Chance comes in. We’ll secure the business front for an old model cars car lot.”

“And we can use this location for the business front,” she insisted with excitement.

“That’ll definitely put you ahead of whatever Juan maybe thinkin’.

I’ll get people here to pave the parking lot and get this building up to code and have it decorated.

I need y’all to get the business side of it up and running within the next three days.

I think Juan is poppin’ up at the end of next week.

So, if you’re damn near at operating capacity, that’ll keep you in a good light.

Fernando will keep me updated and will be the contact person with the people I have working on everything here. And Nasir?”

“Wassup, Nina?” I turned to look at her.

“Now you can take yo’ high yella ass on home.”

“Still could’ve sent this message by way of Fernando,” I joked as Chance stepped out leaving us alone. “Nina, I don’t want to have to worry about yo’ life too while I’m here in Miami.”

“I am the parent here, remember?”

“All the reason why you don’t need to be riskin’ yo’ life. If anything happens to you then the mission can’t be completed. Remember this is all your plan.”

“I know, Nasir. Listen, I have to lay eyes on you here and there movin’ forward.

It was easier stayin away when you didn’t know that I existed.

Now that you know, I want to call every day.

I want to see you and watch you grow even though you’re grown.

I missed a lot, Nas. And I’m truly sorry for that but I thought I was doing my best to keep you safe.

Knowin’ that it caused you pain fucks with me, but once we’re done with this, we’ll be reunited properly. ”

“Aye, you ain’t say you were comin’ on some emotional shit. I hear everything you sayin’ and I’m not one to hold grudges but don’t let that shit happen again. Because when it’s all said and done, I don’t need you doin’ my daughter how you did me.”

“Wait, a damn minute! I’m a grandma?! Ooh my goodness, I can’t wait to meet her.”

“I gotta meet her first but by the time all this is handled it’ll be the perfect time for y’all to get to know each other.”

“Nas, how the fuck you don’t know yo’ child?! Did you get a hoodrat pregnant?!”

“My Baby Mama ain’t no hoodrat. Watch it, Nina.”

“Then how haven’t you meet yo’ own child? I know for a fact Mama Eva ain’t raise no fuckin’ deadbeat!”

“This comin’ from the actual deadbeat that she raised.”

“Watch it, Nasir.”

“The truth hurts no matter who tells it. But clearly, I’m more like you and Javier than I’d like to admit.

I haven’t met her because I was locked up.

But my Baby Mama handled business while I was away.

On top of allowing my daughter to see me in a good light thinkin’ I was in the military and shit. ”

“Ooh, that must be the girl you were thinkin’ about the day we met. She can’t be a hoodrat if she got yo’ nose wide open like this.”

“Ain’t shit wide opened over here. Miss me with that shit. She was mine then and gonna be mine forever that’s it that’s all.”

“Yeah, ok. I bet she ain’t havin’ that shit. You hurt her, didn’t you? You did; I can tell. You gonna have to move mountains to get her back.”

“And how you figure that?”

“Because a hoodrat baby mama would’ve dawged you while you were away! That baby would’ve known you weren’t shit from the moment she could remember. Instead, she isn’t paintin’ you in a bad light. She’s allowin’ you the chance to right a wrong with her through y’all child.”

“Ok. I see you droppin’ gems, Nina. I’ma make sure I handle up like a real man suppose too. Like you said Mama Eva ain’t raise no deadbeat.”

“And I ain’t birth no deadbeat either! Handle that shit so you can give my grandbaby a life that she’s only dreamed of.”

“I gotcha. But remember I can’t do that if I’m worryin’ ‘bout you. I got it from here with Juan, ok? If I need you or have questions, Fernando will reach out. I’m a grown ass man and I can handle this as such.”

“Fine, I’ll fall back on the Mama Bear tip. Just know I’m here whenever you need me.”

“I know and I appreciate that, but I got it trust me.”
