Forty-Three

“Levi…” I moan, still dazed and half asleep as his tongue swipes through my center, drawing lazy circles over my sensitive clit.

I let my thighs fall open, allowing him better access.

My eyes squeeze shut as he works his tongue over me, each pull of his mouth sending molten heat flooding between my legs.

“Always so wet for me.”

He moans his approval over my sex, the rumble of his words against my skin drawing me closer to the brink of insanity.

He draws my clit into his mouth, sucking and dragging at the tiny bud and causing another moan to fall from my lips.

Tension coils low in my belly at his whispered praise, and I lose myself in the sensation of him.

A thick finger joins the ministrations of his tongue, slipping into me with ease and curling to place pressure against the spot deep inside me.

It’s an exquisite torture, and I lose myself in blissful agony.

Everything within me tightens, and colors explode on the backs of my eyelids as Levi tears the orgasm from my body with one hard, demanding stroke.

“That’s it, baby. Be a good girl. Come all over my tongue.”

His wicked words should have me hiding my face in embarrassment, but I’m too far gone. Too lost in this tidal wave of pleasure, with only Levi’s touch as my anchor to keep me from floating away.

I’d been wandering aimlessly before I met him, lost in the panic and adrenaline of my own life and haunted by the ghosts of my past. I wandered a dark path through dreary woods, surrounded by trees whose limbs reached for me like gnarled fingers, tearing at my hair and my clothes.

It seemed that everywhere I turned, I hit another dead end, another boulder, another terrifying thicket of trees—all of which sent me sprinting back in the direction I came from, only to realize the path had been overtaken, and I could no longer find my way out.

That is, until I stumbled upon Levi’s light. He reached out to my broken and shaking form, gripping my hand and pulling me forward towards a new start, a new adventure, while never once expecting me to be anything other than who I am, tattered remains and all.

It takes several minutes to fully come down from my high, and when I finally pry my eyes open, Levi is already grinning up at me with a devilish smirk, his eyes bright and his lips still glistening from my release.

Slowly, he licks his lips, the sight enough to catapult my body into overdrive again.

God, I’m insatiable for him. Already, I want more.

More of his head between my legs.

More of his cock down my throat.

More of him thrusting deep inside me.

It’s like a restless hunger has awakened inside me, ravenous and impossible to ignore.

“Where’d you go?” Levi asks gently as he climbs back up the bed and settles beside me on the nest of pillows and blankets.

“With that tongue? To the moon, I think.” I’m still breathless, my body still tingling with the fading aftershocks.

His sultry chuckle warms my skin, and I burrow into his chest, inhaling the intoxicating scent of his soap, sweat, and the faint tinge of me.

“I’ll happily spend the rest of my days with my head between your legs if you’ll let me.”

I pretend to consider it for a moment, my index finger tapping my chin. “Might make holding down a job a little challenging.”

“My only job is to wring as much pleasure from your body as I possibly can. And then some.”

God, the mouth on this man.

“You’re insufferable.” I swat at his chest playfully and stand from the bed, stretching my arms over my head.

My body is deliciously sore from last night, and it’s an oddly satisfying feeling.

The thought of walking around today with the reminder of Levi’s extremely thorough worship of my body has me curling my toes.

“Shit,” Levi curses, jumping out of bed, gloriously naked, and gets dressed quickly. I frown as I watch him tug a dark T-shirt down over his head.

“What’s wrong?”

“I completely forgot that Harold asked us to come in today to finish up a couple of things around the shop.”

“I thought you had today off?”

“Yeah, we were supposed to, but there’s some housekeeping stuff Harold’s been falling behind on, and Justin and I said we’d go in and help him sort it out.”

I nod my understanding and try to fight back the wave of disappointment at the thought of him leaving.

“Will you be late?” I ask as I pull on the clothes I borrowed last night, right before promptly losing them in a heap on the floor. Levi crosses the room to me and wraps his arms around my waist, peering down at me.

“I shouldn’t be. I have somewhere very important I need to be tonight.”

“And where might that be?” I ask innocently, leaning into his chest and matching his playful tone.

He leans down, bringing his mouth to the shell of my ear, which sends a wave of awareness coursing through me.

“Deep inside that gorgeous, tight pussy while I make you scream my name to the heavens.”

This man is going to be the death of me in the best way possible.

“Well then,” I drag my nails roughly down his chest, hating the fabric between us, eliciting a sharp hiss through his teeth, “I guess you’d better get going so you can come back.” I lean up and kiss the side of his neck. “I’ll make coffee.”

Before he can respond, I spin on my heels, breaking out of his grasp, and practically skip out of the room and down the stairs.

It’s like I can finally breathe again, and it’s all thanks to the man I left standing in the middle of his bedroom looking a little dazed and like he’s trying to figure something out.

Who knew all I needed was a change of perspective and an attitude adjustment?

In the form of I-don’t-even-know-how-many orgasms, no less.

Yeah, a girl could get used to this.

Swoon.

I busy myself with the coffee maker, scooping a little extra of the grounds into the filter to make the coffee strong, just like he likes it.

It took some getting used to for me, but now I can’t imagine drinking the maple-flavored coffee any other way.

While the coffee percolates, I scoop some food into Bandit’s bowl, adding a little extra on top for him, too, since Levi isn’t down here to chastise me about making his dog fat.

Such a hypocrite. He gets extra coffee, and Bandit gets extra kibble. It’s only fair.

The German shepherd scarfs his breakfast down greedily. I swear he doesn’t take a breath until he’s finished every last morsel. His tongue wags happily, and I sit down on the kitchen tile to scratch behind his ears and bury my face in his soft fur.

“Don’t tell me I’ve already been replaced.”

I reluctantly let go of my furry friend at the sound of Levi’s voice. He’s standing behind me at the front door, putting on his work boots. I make my way over to him.

“He is really cute, and he doesn’t talk back.” I shrug, then let out a high-pitched yelp as he grips my waist and spins me around before setting me back on my feet.

“You love it when I talk back,” he reminds me.

“You have the mouth of a sailor,” I scold, narrowing my eyes in an attempt at seriousness.

He quirks a brow at me, a wicked glint in his eyes. “You love my filthy mouth.” His tongue darts out to wet his bottom lip, and my eyes catch on the movement. “Mmm, I can still taste you.”

He squeezes his arms around me, his hands traveling up my spine to cup the back of my neck before his mouth descends on mine in a kiss so passionate that it has the blood boiling in my veins. I kiss him back, noting the lingering taste of myself on his lips and not minding one bit.

The siren inside me does a little shimmy at the thought of Levi walking around with my taste on his tongue for the rest of the day. All too soon, the kiss is over, and I’m waving Levi out the door with a promise to text him throughout the day.

I wish I could say I’m productive after Levi leaves for work, but in all honesty, I need rest after we practically pulled an all-nighter last night.

Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed it immensely, and I’m already counting down the minutes until he gets home this afternoon and we can do it all over again, but my body needs rest. I curl up on the couch with Bandit, flipping the television to something mindless, and before I know it, I’m passing out in a comforting cocoon of blankets and fur.

My phone buzzes some time later, and when I glance at the time, I realize it’s already almost three in the afternoon.

I have a few missed texts from Levi wondering what I’m doing and if I want him to pick up pizza for dinner on the way home.

I shoot out a quick reply—Yes, pizza would be great, and I’ve been sleeping since someone kept me up all night—and then scroll through a few of the other missed messages.

Most are from my ex from weeks ago that I never opened and apparently never deleted.

I swipe on some of them to finally delete them for good, but then stop, an uncomfortable feeling settling in the pit of my stomach and telling me to hold on to them just in case.

It seems ridiculous to hang on to such vile, hateful words, but my instincts are usually right, and I might need them one day as proof.

Hopefully, things don’t go that far, and I’ll look back on this time in my life years from now, with Levi by my side, and finally let them go.

I scroll past the offending texts and almost skip past one from an unknown number, but the beginning of the message catches my attention and I click into it.

Unknown

It’s Layla. I’m sick with a stomach bug and can’t make it in tonight. I told Joe you’d cover my closing shift.

I roll my eyes, irritation sparking at the fucking audacity of this woman. I’d been looking forward to spending more time with Levi tonight, but I could use the extra cash. I leave the message on read, not bothering to give her the satisfaction of a reply and head upstairs to get ready.

I type out a quick text to Levi, letting him know I picked up a shift tonight, so he doesn’t worry when he gets home and I’m not here.

I don’t want him thinking I’m second-guessing anything from last night or this morning, but I know that if I don’t tell him where I am, all he’ll do is worry anyway.
