Chapter Thirty Peyton

I tried to participate in my classes for the rest of the day, but I couldn’t focus.

I couldn’t believe this was happening again.

How many times do people in my life have to get kidnapped?

It’s like one minute I am living a perfectly normal life and the next all hell is breaking loose.

I don’t know where Cooper is. No one can tell me anything.

I’m terrified. I left campus a little while ago and came to the clubhouse.

Knox has been in church with his brothers for what feels like forever.

I don’t know what they are discussing, but nothing is more important than what is going on right now.

We need to find Cooper and we need to find him fast.

I do not want to lose him before I give him more shit for not telling me the truth about everything that has gone on in his life.

Last night our conversation over the phone had been a little illuminating and I know he wants to tell me everything, but he has had so much stupid shit going on in his head.

I can tell that the idiot thinks I won’t know what to do with his childhood and everything that happened to him, but that isn’t true at all.

Right now, I just want to know that he is okay.

I want to know that he is going to come home to me in one piece.

He needs to find out that Devil is his dad.

That his family just expanded and he has so many younger siblings that will look up to him and be so proud of the man he is.

I hate that knowing his dad growing up was taken from him, but in a way he knew Devil growing up.

Just not as his father. I might not know everything that happened to him, but I know he spent a lot of his time at the clubhouse when he could, hanging out with Tanner.

The two of them have always been thick as thieves.

Pacing around the common room waiting for the Untamed to get out of church my phone rings and I look down to see that Tanner is calling me.

“Hey.”

“Pey, what do you know?”

“I don’t know anything Tanner. No one told me anything. I didn’t even know that he was going to be coming here today. I thought he was staying at the clubhouse until he figured everything out about his family. He didn’t even text me to tell me he was leaving.

Devil is the one that told me he had left the lab to come straight here and that was hours before he got in touch with me.”

“Alright, we are working on it here. Devil and Chains got in touch with Terror while you were trying to find out if he was at the Rebel’s clubhouse. Wiz is checking traffic cameras to try and see if he can spot him. If I know Whip he was taking backroads so he could get there as fast as he could.”

“Could this be related to the Acid MC, could they have taken him?”

“Peyton, I don’t know. Honestly, doesn’t scream their MO. Plus right now their numbers are low and they are in hiding. That’s why no one actually came to grab Sophie or the boys when Lips took them. She moved before they were ready. I don’t think this is them.”

“Well then who else could it be Tanner!”

He pauses and I hear people talking to him in the background.

“Peyton, I got to go.”

“Wait! Tann—” I am cut off with the beeping from a disconnected call.

“Asshole.”

Then all of the sudden Knox comes barreling out of church with his council brothers and they all head towards the entrance.

“FANG! WAIT!” I scream and chase after him. He doesn’t stop until he gets by his bike and he turns and looks at his men and then back at me.

“I have to go, Peyton. We are heading to the Chaos clubhouse. They think they got a lead, but we have to go baby. It’s going to be okay. I promise I will get him back. We will get him back, we will have our holidays here with the babies. I promise you that.”

He then gives me a kiss and gets on his bike and I watch as the men leave the clubhouse gates. I am so worried for everyone and no one told me anything. They have a lead? That’s great, but what is their lead?

I head into the clubhouse and up to our floor, the babies are at the daycare and right now that is where they are going to stay.

“Hey Peyton, what’s going on? Are you okay?”

“No Sophie, I’m not okay. Someone took Cooper. No one is telling me anything. I need your help. I know you’ve got some in with those Sirens. I also know that you have computer skills. I need you to use them. Please. I need you to find out what is going on and see if you can find Cooper. Please.”

At this point I am pleading. I’m terrified that our last conversation was the other night when he was flustered about how he was going to deal with the news that someone else was his father.

I am terrified the last thing the babies will see of him is that video he sent this morning telling them how much he loved them.

I don’t want this to be the last anything.

I know I have been fighting all of this, our relationship and the possibility of a future with both men, but I am done.

I don’t care if he ever tells me about his past, I just want him here. I want him safe.

“Okay, calm down. I will see if I can find anything. I will have to work at home, but I can get in touch with Nyx and see if she can do anything at headquarters.”

“Thank you, thank you so much. Please call me back when you find something out.”

We hang up and now I am back to feeling helpless and I don’t like it at all. I hate that I can’t do anything and it is driving me crazy. So I head to grab my babies. Hoping that they will be able to see both their daddies soon.
