EPILOGUE

Six months later, I’m sitting in the small office I’ve set up in Hunter’s house—wait, I mean our house—working on my new business.

After a lot of soul-searching, I decided to start a consulting firm helping women entrepreneurs navigate funding and business development. It turns out my experience with risk-taking and pushing boundaries translates pretty well to the startup world.

Hunter has been incredibly supportive, connecting me with potential clients and cheering me on at every milestone.

Life isn’t perfect—we still fight sometimes, usually when I do something reckless (which may or may not be on purpose)—but we always manage to work it out. And the makeup sex is incredible.

Luke is doing well too. He’s in therapy and seems to be healing from his ordeal. He’s even started dating someone—a sweet librarian named Maya.

As for John, he was sentenced to thirty years in prison. Dimitri and Alexander both successfully entered witness protection programs and are starting new lives far away.

I hear footsteps behind me and feel Hunter’s hands on my shoulders.

“Working hard?” he asks.

“Always,” I say, leaning back into him.

“Good,” he says. “Because I have plans for you tonight.”

“Oh?” I ask. “What kind of plans?”

“The kind that involve you, me, and that new paddle I bought,” he says.

“What did I do?” I ask innocently.

“Does it matter?” he asks with a wicked grin.

“Not really,” I admit.

He spins my chair around and pulls me to my feet.

“I love you, you know that?” he says.

“I know,” I say.

“Good,” he says. “Because it’s gonna seem like I don’t when I have my way with you tonight”

My breath hitches. Fuck. How does he still manage to have this effect on me?

“Now get upstairs,” he says. “I’ll be up in five minutes. And I expect to find you naked and waiting for me.”

“Yes, sir,” I say with a smile.
