Chapter 6 Heir Bell
HEIR BELL
A man never looked so good in a tailored, sage suit.
He must’ve spent a few thousand dollars on it.
It molded to his body the way a pair of tights molded to my skin.
Let some tell it, sage was the color of Kody’s eyes.
I’d only seen him in person once, and I wasn’t close enough to him to gage the color of his eyes.
Now that I had Kody’s eyes glued to me, my heart rate skyrocketed.
He was at least six-foot-five and built better than any football player I’d ever seen on the big screen or in person.
His face was nearly perfect and framed by a short, thick brown beard.
Any time he turned his head, I caught a peek of the tattoos covering most of his neck.
Kody vacated his VIP with his eyes set on me. Inhaling a deep breath, I prepped myself for the encounter of a lifetime.
This was by far the craziest shit I’d ever done in my life.
There was no explaining what the hell I was getting myself into by garnering the attention of a man like Kody.
However, this was necessary. If I wanted to put myself out of my misery, I had to go through with this.
The minute I saw him approaching me, I knew that there was no going back.
“Miss Heir… Ya people know you here?” His voice was much richer than I imagined.
He looked even sexier being this close to me, and he smelled dangerous. His eyes… They matched his suit. His milky, light brown skin could’ve been the best thing ever made. Hours upon hours of fantasizing about this man did nothing to prepare me for this moment.
“I’m a grown woman, Mr. McAroy. I don’t need my people’s permission to be anywhere.
” Like hell, I thought. Poppa and Adir narrowly allowed me and Maja to bring our asses in here.
If it weren’t for Maja, they would’ve definitely told my ass no.
Maja had a hold over Adir that I couldn’t deny.
Truthfully, I loved that she could seemingly control him.
“Is that right?” Kody asked. His subtle smirk was so devious, he almost forced me to look away in fear.
“Aight, I see you a lil’ bold. I like that. So, what brings you to my place?” he questioned.
Going for it, I said, “I have a proposition for you.”
Just as his head tilted in reflection and his eyes piqued with curiosity, a woman approached and placed her hand on his shoulder. Her eyes shot daggers into me that would’ve scorched someone else. I wasn’t so easily offended or bothered.
“Baby, VIP is getting lonely without you,” the woman practically whined. I gagged a little. I’d never seen her before, but that didn’t mean anything.
“My apologies. I didn’t know you were taken,” I said. Bummer.
He smirked, just slightly. “Taken is such a strong word, love. For the record, I’ll never be taken.” His eyes found the woman who’d sidled up beside him. Slowly, her hand fell from his shoulder, and her self-assured smile evaporated.
“Good to know,” I replied to him. Taking my L with a smile on my face, I side-stepped Kody to head back to my section.
I felt Maja’s eyes on me. Suddenly, Kody grabbed my forearm.
Gently, he tugged me until I was back in front of him.
The music changed to something a little more upbeat with the bass even louder than the song before it.
“We’re not done,” Kody stated. Again, his eyes flicked to the woman who still stood their looking lost. Kody barely blinked, but the signal for her to walk away was loud and clear.
Ugh. I couldn’t imagine letting a man treat me with such disrespect. She’d barely made the first step before Kody was back to eyeing me.
“What’s so pressing that you riskin’ ya life by comin’ up in here?” he asked.
There was the crazy plan I’d concocted. I was to come here, gain Kody’s attention, then offer him a proposal.
I’d succeeded thus far. There was no turning back, now.
I didn’t want a man and didn’t need one.
One thing my father and brother taught me was that I couldn’t trust anyone; not even the men who were the closest to me and supposed to love me the most. The only men I had love for anymore were Poppa and Adir.
They saved me and took me in like true men should.
So, no… I didn’t want or need a man. However, my body had needs, more like demands. My body demanded that I find a proper suitor to rid me of my virginity. Kody was the only man to ever command my thoughts, my dreams, and my every waking moment. Disturbing, it was.
For one, Kody wasn’t exactly the man to find the least bit attractive. Sure, he was sexy as hell. However, this was the same man who killed his entire elder bloodline. Although my family didn’t fear him, the streets feared Kody.
Secondly, Kody’s dark energy wasn’t the kind that was simply evil. It was the kind that silently stole every ounce of someone’s energy just to prove that he could. Kody was deadly in many ways.
“What’s this proposition, Miss Heir?” he questioned.
Blinking, I came out of my own head to find him peering down at me.
Boldly, I professed, “I’d like one night with you.”
His head tilted again, but it was the glare and gleam in his eyes that gave me pause. Maybe this wasn’t smart after all. He’d devour me outside of the bedroom let alone inside of it.
He stepped closer to me, closing the tiny space between us. I gasped and had to lean further back to see his eyes.
“You want a night with me?” he quizzed, skeptically.
Thankfully, he couldn’t hear my heart beating out of my chest. Keeping up the facade of bravery I’d worn since stepping inside his club, I nodded and confirmed, “One night.”
His eyes roamed over my face and, for a second, I thought he’d turn me down. Then, he smirked and said, “Come with me.”
Gulping, I followed close behind Kody. Glancing back at my section, Maja stood at the banister.
With a sly smile, she tipped her glass to me.
Inwardly, I shook my head. Her ass was just as crazy as me for agreeing to this shit.
I followed Kody through the crowd and all the way to his private section overlooking the entire club.
The guards at the entrance wore identical curious gazes but minded their business.
Ol’ girl was sitting in the section with a couple other women.
Each of them looked bothered as hell. Hopefully, Kody didn’t think I was into a group thing.
Hell, I was already terrified of having sex with him.
He couldn’t just throw me off the deep end.
“Have a seat and relax,” Kody told me. “You want a drink?”
“No thanks,” I replied while taking a seat. The inside of his section was light years ahead of the other state-of-the-art sections. I could see the whole club from every angle. Kody sat right next to me. That was when my nerves took over. This man wasn’t anything to play with.
“Explain why you want a night with me,” he prompted.
One thing I prided myself on was that I was a straight shooter. I didn’t mince my words, and I never beat around the bush. “Recently, I turned thirty.”
“Happy late birthday,” he muttered.
“Thank you, but that’s the thing. I wanted something special for myself, and I’m taking a leap to get it.”
“And that is?” he questioned.
“I want to lose my virginity. But not to just anybody. To you.”
His eyes reflected something dangerous and sexy at the same time. It caused the heat surrounding us to triple as his eyes dipped to my middle. They lingered for a second, and his nose slightly flared.
“One night only. Not strings attached. Anything goes,” I stated.
“Anything goes?” he quizzed.
Glancing at the women sitting on the couch opposite us, glaring at me like they wanted to kill me, I clarified, “Between me and you, of course. It’s my night to of being liberated, so I’m going for it.”
He smirked. “I haven’t eaten pussy since college. Which translates to I don’t eat pussy, ass, or none of that shit.”
“You’re going to eat mine,” I declared without missing a beat. “Once you do, I’ll be the most addictive thing you’ve ever known.”
When his eyes finally climbed back to mine, I knew he was about to say some shit that I didn’t like. No lie behind his gaze.
“It takes a lot for me to admit when I’m intrigued,” he mumbled. “However… I am.”
A flitter of hope surged through me, but I kept it cool.
“With that being said, my dick ain’t the dick to break you in, lil’ baby,” he said.
Although he was likely right, it burned me that he’d denied me. I took the rejection with a smile. There wasn’t a nigga on earth who could control my emotions. Not after the shit I went through. Kody’s right to reject me was his; I had to be okay with that.
Holding my hand out, I smiled and replied, “It was nice meeting you, Kody.”
He took my hand in a handshake that lit me on fire. Although delicate in the way he gripped my hand, it was enough pressure to cause my breath to hitch.
“Leavin’ so soon?” he asked.
Nodding, I stood, shrugged and said, “We have nothing else to discuss.”
Smiling as I made my exit, I thought that it was a bummer that my fantasies wouldn’t come to fruition. Oh, well. I was back on the hunt for a suitable one-night stand. Hopefully, they would have just as much hold on me as Kody McAroy did.
