Chapter 32 HEIR

HEIR

“You were right,” I said to Kody. He stood behind me, holding me as we both overlooked the city skyline of Lima, Peru.

I’d never been here before, but Kody assured me that he would be a great guide.

He flew me, Kim, Charnice, and Katrice out here for a mini vacation.

Truly, he was there to look at some land.

Although he was against moving K. M. Liquors & Wine out of the US, he was thinking about opening another winery four hours from Lima.

For now, we were at our villa having just arrived from the airport.

I thought flying there would have been terrifying.

Next to Kody, the flight didn’t even matter.

He held my hand the entire time and talked me through the turbulence.

My stomach flipped most of the flight. I contributed that to the baby I was growing.

Five tests confirmed that I was carrying Kody’s child.

In a matter of months, I went from fuck all these niggas to being with child. I had to sigh and shake my own head.

Kody kissed my temple. “You ready to build with me, mama?”

Without hesitation, I answered, “I am.”

“The land we buy here will be what we pass down to our own kids. Yeah?”

Inwardly, I shouted. On the outside, I smiled and replied, “Yeah.”

Later that afternoon, Kody took me to the same jewelry boutique where his father purchased Kody’s mother that infamous ring.

I tried on a few pieces of jewelry, none simpler yet extravagant as a two-carat diamond ring that fit my ring finger perfectly.

Seeing something of that magnitude resting against my skin caused my heart to flutter violently.

Snatching the ring off, I sat it back onto the counter and moved to the next item the clerk had on display.

It was a diamond bracelet whose beauty captivated me.

Kody clasped the bracelet around my wrist and kissed me there.

He purchased three more bracelets for me, a watch for himself, and a few things for Kim and Charnice.

Just like that, he dropped six figures without batting an eye.

He spoiled me in ways that a spoiled woman like me wasn’t used to.

Sure, I was wealthy, but so was Kody. His ability to make me feel soft with him surmounted any amount of money he would ever spend on me.

He held my hand, my waist, anything that kept us connected while we shopped at different boutiques.

Although we were in another country, surrounded by people I didn’t know, being flanked by Kody, Dex, and Roy made me feel safe.

I was able to enjoy myself without the restraints of being back home.

We went back to our villa where a private chef prepared dinner for us.

While waiting for dinner to finish, I changed into something more comfortable.

Just as the sun set, I sat on Kody’s lap as we enjoyed our meal on the balcony.

His thick, curly hair was unbound and hanging just below his shoulders.

He was bare chested, barefoot, and he looked like a royal warrior.

I straddled my warrior’s lap and kissed his lips.

His dick hardened beneath me. By now, I was used to Kody’s sexual appetite.

He knew how to please me, and I was well on my way to perfecting how to please him.

I slipped to my knees and freed his dick.

When he asked me to practice sucking his dick, I reluctantly bought the biggest dildo I could find, one that closely resembled Kody’s length and width.

I choked and sucked on that thing so much, if it had feelings, it would have been in love with me. It got me here, though.

Kody’s head was lax on his shoulders. Between his grip on my hair, and the sounds he made, I tried to suck him into another time zone. I took time to pleasure all of him and received my present with a coy smile on my face.

When it was time to visit the land Kody wanted to procure, I stretched across his lap and napped for the four-hour journey.

I prayed my pregnancy symptoms stayed at bay until I made it back to Bell Estates.

I wanted to see my doctor, get an ultrasound, and all of that before breaking the news to Kody.

Honestly, I looked forward to telling him.

We stayed in Peru for four days. I was pampered beyond my wildest dreams, sexed beyond my wildest fantasies, and adored beyond my imagination’s boundaries. There was no way to explain the way I felt about Kody other than I loved him. I was in too fucking deep.

Back home, I found myself hovering underneath my mother.

As the days led up to my first obstetrics appointment, I found any reason to take up space with her.

Like now, she was out shopping for the boys, and I just had to tag along.

Poppa kept the boys busy while Mama concentrated on getting everything they needed. I followed her like a puppy.

She finally noticed that I wasn’t looking for anything and was just content being in her presence.

“What is going on with you, baby girl?” she asked. Although a smile was on her lips, I could tell my clinginess concerned her.

“Nothing, Mama,” I assured her. “I’ve just been thinking about a conversation we had over ten years ago.”

She picked up a pair of jeans, studied them, then sat them back on the display table. “Oh, yeah? What conversation would that be?”

Trailing her around the display table, I said, “The one about you living your life and not allowing Dad to control you from the grave.”

She paused and glanced at me. “Oh.” Her eyes darted around the store, spotted Poppa, and softened. “That was the best advice you ever gave me, sweetheart. That man over there is the best thing that ever happened to me. Besides you, of course.”

I giggled. “Yeah, I know. Since the day you let him in, Poppa has loved you completely. He’s been something to you that Dad never was.

I see that now. He has loved and protected me nearly my whole life.

He’s the reason why I… Why I think it’s okay for me to fall in love.

I mean, it is okay for me to fall in love, right?

I don’t have to allow Dad and DJ’s sins to fall on me or hinder me from the best man I’ve ever known. Right?”

I didn’t know that I was crying until I felt Poppa’s fingers wiping away the tears. Mama stared at me with a set of fresh tears in her eyes, too.

Chuckling, I said, “Sorry. I’m carrying on like a baby inside these people’s store.”

Poppa hugged me to his chest. “This right here is why I’ve decided to become a silent partner with the team.”

Mama gasped. “Really?”

He nodded. “I can’t continue to miss out on my family.” He tweaked my chin. “I wouldn’t give a damn if you were sixty years old. As long as I’m livin’, I’m gon’ always wipe ya tears. Aight, baby?”

I hugged Poppa back and replied, “Okay.”

“And for the record, you’re already in love, dear. Own it. You deserve it,” Mama stated.

Poppa grumbled. “I’ma start diggin’ that nigga’s plot just in case he wanna try some shit.”

I burst out laughing, and Mama sweetly chided him.

“I like Kody, Daddy,” Genesis chimed in.

“Me, too,” CJ added. “He told us he would buy us a car when we turn sixteen.”

Genesis nodded emphatically. “Yep! I can’t wait. I want a Rolls Royce that looks just like his.”

“And I want a Charger, custom painted with dope ass rims,” CJ declared.

Poppa grinned, but Mama lost her shit at CJ cursing. “Boy! Watch your mouth!”

“But Daddy said—”

“Oh… Uh, uh, baby. Don’t do that.” Poppa jumped in quick to save himself before CJ told on him.

I died laughing. Ten years ago, no one could’ve told me that this would be my life now, and that my mother would be in the healthiest, happiest, most loving relationship of her life. I loved that for her. Now it was time for me to step into my own season of being loved.

Just two weeks later, I walked out of my OB appointment feeling like I could pick the entire world up and spin it around like a basketball.

I was pregnant! Ultrasound in hand, I couldn’t wait to break the news to Kody.

It took special care to keep anyone from being the wiser as to where the hell I was.

Dex, who I’d been riding with often since being with Kody, even turned a blind eye.

Bummed that Kody was out of town on business, I decided to cheer myself up by preparing him a nice we’re having a baby gift basket.

Dex took me to the mall, where I instantly regretted going inside there.

As I walked into the first store, Tina’s ass popped up in my peripheral.

She wasted no time confronting me. Just like the last time, Dex was there to intervene.

I wasn’t even surprised when Adir’s security appeared in the store.

“They can’t keep saving you, bitch!” Tina shouted.

Her fingers kept popping over Dex’s shoulder, so the next time they popped up, I grabbed and twisted them bitches hard as hell.

The maneuver was enough to get a grip and yank her ass from behind Dex.

She swung wildly while I uppercut her stupid ass.

All her wild ass swings landed on Dex but mine landed on her mouth and nose.

All too quickly, I was being carried out of the store.

Shit! I was supposed to beat her ass before I found out about my baby.

Oh, well, I thought. She didn’t touch me, but I surely touched her. With her bitch ass!

Now, I had to figure out a way to explain this shit to Kody. Hm. I added a I’m sorry, boo gift basket to my list. I couldn’t have my man mad at me before I broke the news to him. Feeling lighter on my feet, I breezed through shopping, ready for Kody’s trip to be over.
