Chapter 16 Mackenzie
MACKENZIE
Having Chance show me all the local secret spots today has been amazing.
We’re now sitting on a huge rock, looking over the crystal blue waters.
He picked up some sandwiches and drinks, and I’m enjoying our little picnic in the sunshine.
I’m wearing my favorite red bikini with little denim shorts, and Chance hasn’t been able to take his eyes off me.
The tension between us has been building up all day with each gentle touch and hungry kiss.
I love the kind of foreplay that starts before the bedroom.
Gunner and Lust decided to follow us, although I don’t know what they think Chance might need protection from.
I figure because he’s the president, if they have any enemies, they’d go for him.
Do they have enemies? I never thought about that before, but it’s clearly a thing if we can’t even go on a little date without men trailing behind us.
“Are you in danger?”
He shakes his head. “No, baby. We saw someone from a rival MC a few weeks ago, but we haven’t seen anything since. We are just being careful. You have nothing to worry about.”
“I’m not worried,” I reply, taking a sip of my water. Well, I wasn’t until this morning.
He wraps his arm around me and kisses my temple. “Just ignore Gunner and Lust. I sure as fuck do.” He pauses and then adds, “Especially ignore Gunner. I don’t want him touching you at all after the comments you’ve been making.”
I open my mouth to give him a smart-ass reply, but he cuts me off with a kiss.
After showing me the rock pools and then walking across the beach and over a hill to check out another beach, we head back to the parking lot where Gunner and Lust are waiting, standing guard.
I notice both their eyes on me, and Chance must, too, because he stands in front of me and turns around to face me.
“I don’t want to kill my VP and sergeant at arms,” he mutters, taking off his cut and putting it on me. “So wear this until you get your top back on.”
When he steps away from me, letting them see me again, I don’t miss the surprised expressions on their faces. Lust dips his head, and Gunner crosses his arms over his chest, a contemplative look on his face.
“What?” I ask them both as we get close to their motorcycles.
“Nothing.” Gunner smirks, climbing onto his Harley. “So are we still continuing the old traditions?”
I have no idea what he’s referring to, but apparently, Chance does, because he levels Gunner with a look so icy, I hope it’s never directed at me. “You’d like that, wouldn’t you?”
Gunner puts his hands up in submission. “Just asking, Prez. You’re the first one to take an old lady.”
Lust laughs. “You’ve got a death wish, brother.”
Grabbing my white T-shirt from Chance’s saddlebag, I ignore their conversation and take off Chance’s cut and hand it back to him, then put mine on. “Can we get cheesecake on the way home? It would be the icing on the cake of a perfect day.”
Chance leans down and kisses me. “Anything you want, baby.”
“That’s what I like to hear.” I grin.
We head back toward the clubhouse. We’re about halfway home when four motorcycles surround us.
When they speed up ahead, I note that the back of their cuts reads ‘Bloody Scorpions MC.’ Chance puts his hands on top of mine and squeezes.
I hold tighter, just as Gunner and Lust close in, both moving to protect their president.
The Bloody Scorpions race off ahead of us, while we slow down, putting space between us. We then take a different route home.
The clubhouse gates are open and waiting when we arrive, then locked behind us.
I don’t know what that was, but to me it seemed like some biker intimidation bullshit. They didn’t shoot at us or anything, but they sure as shit let their presence be known.
Chance lifts me off the bike and pulls into his arms. “Are you okay?”“Yeah, I’m fine,” I assure him, burying my face into his chest.
“Fuck,” he grits out, kissing the top of my head. “I’m calling church now. Will you wait for me?”
I must look confused because he explains, “Club meeting with all the brothers.”
“I’ll get something to eat and head to your room,” I say, pulling him in for a quick kiss.
“You’ll stay here tonight?” he asks, and there’s something vulnerable in his eyes when he looks at me.
“I’ll stay tonight, but I have to go home tomorrow and prep for my classes.”
He looks relieved. “Okay. We can order something in for dinner. Whatever you want.”
We walk inside together, hand in hand, and he kisses my knuckles before heading to their meeting, while I go into the kitchen and see what they have.
Honey is sitting there, scrolling on her phone. She looks up at me and smiles. “How was your date?”
“Amazing. The best one I’ve ever been on if I’m being honest.” I beam, opening the refrigerator and checking the contents. “What do you guys usually do for dinner?”
“Sometimes we cook, but mostly we just order something in.” She shrugs, putting her phone down and studying me. She’s wearing a pretty off-the-shoulder pink dress that I could never pull off. I want to hate her, but she hasn’t really given me any reason to, unlike Gia.
“Maybe I’ll make my famous chili prawn pasta,” I think out loud, checking what we have and writing down a list for what we’ll need. “How many people do you think will be eating?”
“If you’re cooking, then everyone.” She grins, getting up and coming over to me. “I tell you what, give me the list. I’ll take a prospect and get what you need. A homemade prawn pasta sounds fucking amazing right now.”
“Okay, but check with the men before you go anywhere because they’re all having a meeting right now,” I say, not wanting to get in trouble for sending her away if we’re meant to be staying in the clubhouse. “I also make an amazing brothy chicken rice dish. I should make that next time.”
Honey looks at me like I told her the happiest news of her life. She takes the list and heads off to ask if it’s safe for her to go. When she gets approval, she gets one of the men to take her.
I guess I’m feeding the entire biker clubhouse.
No pressure, right?
