Chapter 1 Fine We Break Up

Xu Heng came home and saw me chewing candy.

He frowned. "Smoking again?"

Before, when I saw that look, I would have thrown myself on him, hung there, and kissed him again and again, until the man like a cold moon took on desire.

Then I would smile and ask, "Do you taste the smoke?"

His eyes would darken. His fingertips rubbed at my waist, as if he did not notice, while his face stayed cold and stern.

"It's the middle of the day. What nonsense is this?"

"Can't a woman show a little restraint?"

I had liked him for seven years. What did I know about restraint?

So I wound my fingers into his tie and tugged lightly.

"Baby, want to go to the room and teach me?"

A flush climbed quietly to the tip of Xu Heng's ear, brighter than the lipstick at the corner of his mouth.

His voice went hoarse. He still looked proper. "Teach you how?"

I smiled with red lips and led him into the room, one step at a time.

But this time, I had no energy for it.

I swallowed the crushed candy and walked up in front of him.

His throat moved. His gaze was dim and unclear, as if he were waiting for something.

Five years of chasing. One year together.

I had seen disappointment in his eyes, and disdain, and impatience.

Toward me, I had never seen love or expectation.

He agreed to be my boyfriend after people surrounded him when his company had just opened. I called the men from the Bar to get him out.

I used soft words and hard pressure, and gave him one million to clear his debt.

Back then, he looked at me with a distant face.

"What do you want?"

I propped my chin on my hand and traced his features with my eyes.

He had shed some of the boyishness from seven years ago.

I smiled, soft and alluring.

"I like you. Be my boyfriend."

It was my twentieth confession.

He stayed silent so long I thought he would refuse again. Then a quiet "Mm" sounded.

Shock and joy hit me together. I kissed his cheek, excited.

The men from the Bar cheered and urged me to kiss him.

My face heated.

I looked at Xu Heng.

His ice-cold face was like a basin of cold water.

I did not see liking in him.

I did not see him looking up to me either.

It did not matter. Time would change everything.

So stupid.

I laughed all at once.

Xu Heng's fingers, the joints clear, tugged at his collar. His face looked impatient.

"What are you losing it over?"

"I have no contact with Lin Yaoyao anymore. If you throw a temper for nothing again, then we break up."

In that one year, he had said break up more times than I could count.

"Smoke again, and we break up."

"Drink, and we break up."

"Dye your hair, and we break up."

To keep him, I was willing to close the Bar, drop the habits he treated as flaws, and learn the look of a proper young lady.

My wildness had been for him to begin with.

This time, I was tired.

"Fine, Xu Heng. Let's break up."
