Chapter 2 Delete HerFire Him

Xu Heng's cold eyes stirred for one instant. Then he lazily took out his phone and tossed it on the table.

"Go on. Who do you want deleted this time? Who do you want fired?"

Once, I had him fire an assistant who splashed coffee on him on purpose, and delete the Lin Family Heiress who kept trading looks with him.

Back then, his eyes looked tired. "A summer insect cannot be told about ice."

Panic hit me.

Xu Heng was not born favored, but with a sharp mind and a high degree he became a new power in business circles.

I went to a worthless junior college. We were worlds apart.

People around me kept telling me, in the open and in hints, to let go of Xu Heng and let him walk into a wider world.

That so-called world was the Lin Family Heiress, Lin Yaoyao.

Xu Heng and I had not been together long. I did not want to break up.

So I caught them on a date.

They sat in a high-end restaurant I had wanted for a long time and never had the standing to book.

I did not dare step forward and expose it. I did not dare question them.

Deep in the night, Xu Heng came back.

I made my tone sound casual.

"What were you doing? Back this late."

Xu Heng undressed and answered as if it did not matter.

"Dinner with an important client."

My heart jerked. My eyes went wet at once. I kept my back to him and said nothing else.

He came quietly behind me and suddenly closed his arms around me.

"The person I was meeting was a woman, the Lin Family Heiress. Out of politeness, I took her home, so I was a little late."

His voice was low and gentle.

Xu Heng set his chin in the hollow of my shoulder. The heat of his breath landed on my skin.

There was no really intimate move.

My face still went red before I could stop it.

"Oh? Is the Lin Family Heiress prettier, or am I?"

That teasing line left Xu Heng quiet for a long time. Only after a while did he answer.

"Your styles are different. You can't simply say who looks better."

His manner went back to the old proper one. His tone was cold.

"You shouldn't ask a question like that. Saying either person looks worse is embarrassing."

His words stunned me. I pulled out of his arms.

"But if you say I look good, that doesn't mean Miss Lin looks bad. Why would it be embarrassing? Would Miss Lin hear what we say?"

He pressed his lips shut and looked at me. His eyes were deep.

I felt wronged. From the day we got together, he had never praised me, and I had never seen any tenderness from him.

I wanted a little favor. A little proof.

He got up in silence and went upstairs without a pause.

I got angry too. I wrapped a blanket around myself and lay on the living room sofa all night.

I did not sleep the whole night. Xu Heng never came down.

I stayed there alone.
