28. Jaxon
JAXON
Ican’t seem to behave around this fucking woman, and I’m not sure how I’m supposed to function with this level of attraction to someone.
After tasting her, the kiss we share goes from gentle to hungry in a matter of seconds, and I’m so desperate to be inside this woman that I am about to not care if we have a condom.
I hope she’s on some kind of birth control because my dick is weeping as her mouth moves on mine.
Having her fall apart on my tongue was… words can’t touch it.
There is a half second of logic that creeps in to remind me that the intensity of whatever the hell is going on here should scare me, but when her hand grasps around my cock, and she strokes it, my entire body shudders, all other thoughts forgotten.
“I wanna go down on you again,” she says confidently, moving her hand along my length.
“Whatever you want, Del,” I manage to say as I focus on her moving hand.
She travels down my body and looks at me with a smirk before she opens her mouth with her tongue out like a fucking porn star.
I’m not sure how she knows to do that, but I take the invitation to tap her tongue a few times before I feed her my dick.
Her mouth wraps around my length, and she looks so fucking good as she moves up and down and a torturous pace.
But before I can tell her how much I appreciate the view, my phone rings.
Obviously, I let it ring through to voicemail while her tongue sweeps over the sensitive spots, and I’m already anticipating how good it is going to feel when she really starts working again.
The physical compatibility between us is beyond anything I’ve ever experienced.
The ringing stops, and I relax my head back, getting lost in the sensation. But the phone chirps again. I lift my head, and she’s looking at me with questioning eyes and my dick in her mouth. I try to say something, but nothing comes out. What could I possibly say right now?
“Do you need to get that?” she asks, pulling off.
“No,” I say with the confidence of knowing that nothing is more important than this right here.
When the phone rings a third time, I groan because one of four people has the audacity to call me this many times. What the fuck do my siblings or Kellen want? But then logic comes back into the picture. The kind of logic you can’t have when you’re in a sex haze with someone like Della Tatroe.
“A meeting,” I say out loud. “I’m supposed to be in a meeting right now. Fuck.”
She pulls off me, trying to read if she should continue or not, and I’m about to tell her just to ignore the phone when it rings a fourth time. Both my dick and I cry as I get up to grab the call. As expected, it’s Cayson, so I swipe to answer.
“Hello,” I answer more gruffly than I should.
“Get down here, dickface. Maybe you don’t recall, you’re the one who scheduled this stupid meeting the other day.”
“I know I am, jackass,” I snap back. But that was before I knew Della wanted to use me to try to perfect her blowjobs.
“You’re failing on… what did you call it? The example we all want to be. Everyone’s waiting for you in the conference room.”
“Why did I call a meeting today?” I ask my brother as my hand travels down my face.
“Because you wanted to gather your top employees for a rah-rah meeting,” he replies, deadpan.
“Can’t you start for me, Case?” I ask. Really, I just need like eight more minutes with Del. That’s a lie. The way she moves her mouth, less than five.
“No. I have to take the twins to swim lessons. Look, I don’t have to think too hard about where you are, but let’s remember that high season is upon us. You can’t afford to be distracted right now, Jax.”
I roll my eyes because while I know he’s currently salty about life in general, I know he’s kind of right.
He’s made a couple of comments throughout the week about his skepticism with Della, but he hasn’t been around the two of us.
All he would have to do is see us together to feel the chemistry between us.
But regardless, I need to go. The meeting started five minutes ago.
Hanging up the phone, I throw it on the comforter.
“You have to go?” Della sits to a kneel on the bed and turns her big blue eyes to me. I’m pretty sure those will be able to convince me of anything soon, including skipping the bullshit meetings I schedule.
“Yeah,” I reply. “I called the meeting with the Lodge crew on Thursday and completely forgot about it. Can’t imagine where else my mind is,” I chuckle, playfully grabbing at her.
“So… do you want to come back later?” she asks.
That feels like an impossible question. Because yes, I want to come back and continue where we left off, but I also want her to know she is more than someone I’m sexing. Or maybe she’s not. Who fucking knows. Regardless, I want Della to enjoy several things here, not just time between the sheets.
“No,” I say.
“No?” she physically recoils.
“No.” This time I say it with a smile. “I’m not just going to come right back and jump into you blowing me, as tempting as that sounds. I want to take you out tonight.”
“On a date?” She asks with surprise, as if the term was foreign.
“Yeah. When’s the last time you were on a date? One you both wanted to be on for the pleasure of each other’s company. Not just to be seen.”
Her head shakes.
“He never organically took you out?” The question comes out with more bite than I anticipate.
Her head just keeps moving from side to side. “Not without the motivation of a camera.”
“Della,” I stroke her cheek with my thumb, “you are worth so much more than that.”
A tight smile spreads across her lips. It will take time to break her of the beliefs that have been put into her head over the last few years, and though I’m not dumb enough to think they’ll all be gone when she leaves here, I’m going to give it my best shot.
“What do I wear?” she asks.
“Anything you want. We’ll go to the place that matches your outfit.”
Her mouth opens as if she doesn’t know how to respond to me. “So shorts and a ratty t-shirt?” she tries to test me.
“Sure, if you want to. I know the perfect place for that.”
“I would never,” she responds.
“Della Tatroe, good luck finding anything to wear that’s going to stump me on where to take you… or stop me from wanting to sex you.”
That finally elicits a laugh from her.
“Seriously, good luck. But I really do have to go. I’ll grab you later, okay?
” I bend to kiss her, and the electricity that runs between us sparks again.
Thank God she pulls away because I’m about to ditch the whole damn work meeting.
But if I leave now, I can save a little face, and grab some condoms before our date.
Because, regardless of what she wears, I’m going to make this woman see stars. God, I can’t wait to fuck her. I’m not sure I’ve ever waited this long to sleep with somebody.
After my staff gives me copious amounts of shit at the meeting, I end up in my office. For a brief minute, I entertain leaving to make this a day date that extends to night, but it makes sense to get some stuff done before tonight.
Ev
How come I wasn’t informed that Jax was late to his meeting?
Case
He was late, all right. I don’t know if he would’ve shown up if I didn’t call him over… and over… and over until he picked up the phone.
Hazel
Are we opening up the floor as to where he was last night?
Molly
We’re not opening the floor. We all know exactly where he was. Okay, maybe not his location, but we all know who he was with.
Ev
Did you really, Jax?
Hazel
Which space on the bingo card is that? Runaway bride or employee?
Jax
I cannot stress this enough: you are all the worst.
Hazel
Hold on, let’s get clarification on whether he was just protecting her from cougar sounds again.
I send a series of middle finger photos and put my phone down again so I can try to get something done.
But it’s futile because Cayson enters less than ten minutes later
“What’s up, Case? Where are the kids?” I ask, looking at my brother, knowing they just had swim lessons earlier, and he wouldn’t have dropped them off at home.
“They’re in my office for a sec,” he says, eyeing me back.
Few people can read my brother as well as I can, and he has something to say.
Even though he’s older, it’s only by fourteen months, neither of us has known life without the other.
I can read every microexpression on the man's face. Things with his ex have been ugly for so long that it’s taken a toll on him.
He’s not as carefree and easy as he used to be.
And on some level, I get that. He’s responsible for two kids now.
So, of course, he’s going to be a little different.
But this latest bout with the bio mom has intensified his anger and cynicism.
And I wish he would let me in on it a little.
I don’t know if I could do much to help, per se, but he’s trying to shoulder everything by himself, and I’m watching him go down a path I think he’ll look back on and regret.
Even if he complained to me about it, I’d take it as a win.
He won’t even acknowledge how shitty that woman or the situation has been, just that the kids are his whole life.
“Don’t do this, Jax,” he says point blank.
“Do what, Case?” I roll my eyes at him because now I know where he’s going. Occasionally, part of me sometimes feels like he’s so deeply unhappy that he unintentionally tries to make other people miserable, too.
“Take everything else away,” he continues.
“Take away the fact that she came into town in a questionable way. Take away the fact that it’s high season, and we’re slammed, and none of us can afford the distraction of a new and shiny crush.
Take it all away. She’s your employee now, Jaxon. Are you rewriting manuals?”
I lean back in my chair and tap my fingers together. “Rewriting manuals? Give me a break, Cayson. You know as well as I do how many people hook up, date, and break up here weekly. Why is this bugging you so much?”
