Chapter 39

Victoria didn't know how to react to her poor act.

From the beginning until now, she had tried to keep a low profile, doing her best to be the invisible person

Victoria didn't know why she was still being noticed.

She was about to say something, but before she could, Jude stepped forward and pushed Sarah's hand back.

"Ms. Miller, this is for you, don't just give it to anyone!"

Jude spoke, but his eyes were on Victoria's face.

She was acting like he was just a stranger to her.

His heart sank. He remembered how, in the past, when he practiced late into the night, Victoria would always show concern for him.

But now, she had changed. He felt his mother didn't want him anymore!

A sense of panic tightened around his chest.

Just then, Victoria turned to Henry and said, "The event's over. Can I leave now?"

Henry replied, "We're going to dinner."

Victoria was stunned.

She didn't want to have dinner with them.

She couldn't understand why Henry wanted her to stay with them.

Henry stood up and, without a word, began pushing Sarah's wheelchair. Jude walked alongside her, and the three of them moved toward the exit.

Victoria lingered a few steps behind, watching them. Then, she suddenly asked, "Henry, if you won't divorce me, aren't you afraid that Ms. Miller will feel hurt?"

Upon hearing this, Sarah's eyes flashed with wild joy!

She felt that Victoria might have finally reached her breaking point. This was what she had been waiting for!

But she knew she couldn't appear too eager. Sarah quickly said, "Mrs. Harrison, you misunderstand. Henry and I don't like what you think. We..."

She babbled on for a while but ended up explaining nothing. Instead, her words made it seem like their relationship was more intimate than friendship.

Henry's cold eyes stayed on Victoria. He had expected to see her angry, and for a moment, he wondered if she had regained her memory.

But what he saw was a pair of overly calm eyes.

Victoria even furrowed her brow in confusion and said, "Living with you three isn't something I can't accept. I'm just afraid it will upset Ms. Miller."

Henry's face immediately darkened. He frowned and asked dangerously, "Have you got the two hundred million dollars ready?"

Victoria immediately fell silent.

She had just spoken the truth. She didn't expect that he couldn't stand hearing it.

As she turned to get into the car, Henry's cold voice cut through the air. "You can walk."

Hearing this, she blinked. She thought that meant she didn't need to go.

Without hesitation, she turned and walked away, not sparing Henry nor Jude a single glance.

Inside the car, both Henry and Jude stared at Victoria's retreating figure, their faces growing darker by the second.

Sarah saw it all. She clenched her fists, not understanding why they were so caring about Victoria. When she first came back, she felt Henry still had feelings for her.

But now, she could hardly feel it anymore, and it made her anxious!

She felt lost.

She had determined to find a way to win Henry's heart back!

In the private room of the restaurant, Sarah gently served food to Jude, her actions tender and attentive, and occasionally, she would help him wipe his mouth.

Henry, however, seemed distracted. Sarah watched him, hesitated, and then asked, "Henry, you said you'd divorce Victoria. Is that true?"

Hearing this, Henry glanced up at her, and when he saw her face, thoughts of the past stirred up a sudden irritation in hist chest.

He replied calmly, "Let's just eat for now".

Sarah's heart sank.

She felt he didn't want a divorce!

She screamed in her mind, "No, this couldn't happen. If he doesn't divorce, I will lose everything!"

She bit her lip and said, "Henry, if you've fallen for her, then go ahead and live with her. As for the promise you made to me, I'll pretend it never happened."

As she spoke, her eyes reddened, and a tear slipped down her cheek as if she were bearing a deep injustice but struggling to keep it together. She appeared fragile and pitiable.

Henry said, "I haven't forgotten. Since I promised you, I will keep my word."

Sarah sniffed; her eyes lit up with hope as she looked at him. "Really?"

"Sure." Henry nodded briefly. His gaze dropped, hiding the swirling thoughts behind his eyes.

He thought, "Since I don't love Victoria, I should divorce her. Now, I get Jude - an heir to the Harrison family. Since I've made a promise, I should fulfill it.

Victoria had been hoping for a divorce for so long... I should give her what she wanted. After all, she had indeed done her job as Mrs. Harrison quite well these five years."

That was his reasoning, but deep inside, an inexplicable frustration and gloom stirred in his chest. His face turned colder.

Jude listened carefully to their conversation, his eyes lowering slightly. He realized that his dad was going to divorce his mom, and Sarah would become his new mom.

He felt that Sarah would surely be better than Victoria, and Sarah was the kind of mom he wanted.
