Chapter 109
At this, Sarah froze for a moment, instinctively retorting, "I did not..."
Henry looked at her coldly. "I would not be asking if there was not a reason."
Sarah's face fell, her eyes reddening with tears as she pleaded, "Henry, I just wanted to understand her intentions. I am afraid she is toying with your feelings. I did not mean anything else, I will not do it again. Please forgive me."
She clutched his clothes, pleading for forgiveness, panic rising in her chest as she feared Henry might abandon her.
Henry calmly pulled his clothes from her grasp, his gaze growing icy. "Know your place. If you overstep again, you will face the consequences. That incident won't protect you forever."
Sarah trembled in fear. "Henry, I truly know I was wrong. I will not dare to do it again..."
She sobbed, her voice cracking "If my sister were here, she would surely forgive me."
With a single sentence, the temperature in the ward dropped to freezing.
Sarah shuddered once more, nervously glancing at Henry's expression.
She thought, "With her trump card revealed, Henry surely will not press further. He will probably protect me like he always does."
The ward fell silent for a moment.
Henry suddenly asked, "The doctor called earlier and mentioned an issue with your leg. What happened?"
Sarah secretly smiled, anticipating this moment.
She said, "The wound suddenly started hurting and itching so badly that I could not stand it and scratched it."
She rolled up her pant leg, revealing her leg marked with jagged scratches, now scabbed over.
Henry glanced at it briefly. "Did they find out the cause?"
Sarah shook her head. "No, they did not."
Henry's face grew colder, but his tone stayed calm. "It might be an allergic reaction. Rest well and i will call the doctor to find out."
With that, he turned to leave.
"Henry." Sarah glanced at him and weakly asked, "Are you still upset?"
Henry did not turn around, his tone distant. "The priority for you now is to rest and recover, so you can dance again."
He did not give her a response and left without looking back.
Sarah tightened her grip on the blanket. While everything was unfolding as planned, she felt something subtly shifting, slipping out of her control.
A flicker of panic flashed in her eyes as she realized she needed to find a way to regain control.
After leaving the hospital, the cold wind hit Henry. He lit a cigarette, and the smoke curled around his sharp, handsome face.
He narrowed his captivating eyes, took out his phone, and dialed Barrett. "Still awake? Let's grab a drink."
Victoria returned to Rose Villa, instructed the maid to rest and stayed by Emma's side, hardly getting any sleep through the night.
After everything that transpired tonight, her heart had grown colder and harder. Henry's defense of Sarah gave her no reason to hesitate with the divorce.
She thought, "His refusal is likely because I suggested the divorce. As the CEO of the Harrison Group, a man at the height of wealth, it would hurt his pride. I will find a way to make him bring it up himself."
Victoria stayed up all night, working on her laptop and even tweaking her perfume formula as dawn broke.
Emma woke up groggily and saw her on the sofa. In a soft voice, she asked, "Ms. Victoria, why are you up so early?"
Victoria looked up and smiled faintly. "Sweetheart, did you sleep well?"
Emma nodded. "Mm, I sleep well."
Then Emma noticed the dark circles under Victoria's eyes. She quickly walked over to her. "Ms. Victoria, you did not sleep last night, did you?"
Victoria rubbed her head gently. "I did sleep, just woke up a bit early."
Emma frowned. "When my mom does not sleep all night, her eyes look like this. You did not sleep either."
Victoria was surprised by Emma's words, saying, "I slept, just not enough. Now go wash up. What do you want for breakfast?"
Emma thought for a moment. "Can we have sandwiches?"
"Of course."
Victoria shut her laptop and stood up to head out.
As she stepped outside, she saw Jude coming downstairs. Hearing her, he turned to said, "Mom."
"Mm."
Victoria replied indifferently and walked straight to the kitchen.
Jude watched her walked away, lips pressed together. "Dad did not come back last night."
Victoria's expression remain unchanged. "Mm."
She thought, "He must be at the hospital comforting Sarah after last night. If he cares so much, why not just divorce me and marry her?"
A flicker of irritation crossed in Victoria's bloodshot eyes. She tied an apron around her waist, pushed the thoughts aside, and began preparing breakfast.
The maid walked over. "Mrs. Harrison, you do not seem well. Would you like me to make breakfast instead?"
Victoria shook her head. "No need, it is simple. I will finish up soon."
The maid hesitated but did not leave, standing by to see if she could help.
After making the sandwiches, milk, and fried eggs, she set them on the table. Emma and Jude had finished washing up and sat down, waiting.
Victoria glanced at Jude. "Emma is going to kindergarten with you today–help her if she has any questions."
Jude glanced at Emma. Jude's face remained emotionless. "I will."
He thought, "I will do my best to behave, hoping Mom will pay more attention to me."
After breakfast, Victoria followed the car to kindergarten. She thought, "Henry must have arranged everything yesterday. The teachers were so warm and immediately took Emma's hand, showering her with compliments."
"You are Emma, right? You are so pretty. Do not worry, I will stay with you."
Emma blinked her eyes and waved at Victoria. "Ms. Victoria, goodbye."
"Goodbye." Victoria smiled softly.
After seeing Emma and Jude enter the kindergarten, she went back to the car, massaging her temples in exhaustion.
She quickly took out her makeup and applied it, but no matter how hard she tried, it could not conceal her tired face.
She thought, "I am not beautiful anymore! This is so annoying!"
When Victoria arrived at the office, a heavy atmosphere seemed to hang around her.
Hendrick saw her and nervously stammered, "Vika, g–good morning."
Victoria waved her hand. "Stop with the useless talk. Go get your makeup and start working."
"Okay." Hendrick quickly nodded, not daring to cause any trouble.
He thought, "Vika looks really scary today!"
