Chapter 32

Ariel

My hands shake as I read Teddy’s latest letter. He bought me a literal star. He named it Daisy so i could feel closer to my baby girl. He did this for me. He’s been doing all this for me. Putting a Chipotle on the ranch so that I can literally walk to it. Writing me handwritten letters everyday. Buying me a star. A fucking star. And he called it the bare minimum. Like this was just something everyone does. I’m not ready to forgive him just yet, but I’m ready to at least be friendly with him. I miss talking to him.

Finally showering for the first time since coming home from the hospital, I get read and head straight to Teddy’s room. When he opens the door, He looks shocked but then smiles.

“I’m not forgiving you just yet, but we can at least be friendly and talk.” I tell him.

“I can wait for your forgiveness. Remember I told you to walk me like a fucking dog.”

“Yeah I remember.” I look down, trying to hide my blush. He obviously sees it cause he chuckles. I’m about to torture him because he pretty much told me to. “Let’s watch a movie”

And that is how we end up watching Trolls. Teddy is obviously not into it but he doesn’t complain. I could get used to this.

“That movie was-.”

“If you say anything other than ‘a masterpiece’ I will fight you.”

“You must really love that movie.”

“I do. Did you not see how everyone had happiness in them at the end? But also how the Trolls lost theirs when they felt all hope was lost? But then we got the most beautiful scene in cinematic history when Blanch- out of them all- was the one to give them their hope back!” I don’t care how many people tell me this movie is for kids, I will defend it until my dying days. Teddy laughs so hard he’s wheezing. I find myself laughing with him. He looks stunned at the sound, but then smiles.

“You are so beautiful when you laugh.”

“Thank you, friend .” I emphasize so he can remember I have no intention of falling for him again. Harsh. I know. But his words three months ago were harsh too.
